Kentucky's New Uniforms

What are you talking about? "matching"?

I think he means that all of the sports teams for a given university wear similar fonts, wordmarks and colors.

Convenient examples: Colorado's basketball teams will ditch the distinctive look they've had for a few years in favor of the same wordmark and number font that the football team has worn for the past decade or so. The University of Miami uses the same font and futuristic striping designs for football, basketball and baseball (and maybe other sports, I have no idea).

Counterexamples that should be fixed: UCLA wears several different shades of blue in their uniforms, and it varies widely from team to team. Compare the blue football jersey with the blue basketball jersey. They're not even close.

Personally, I like the idea of a uniform look. I'd love to see UNC's football team wearing the Berthold City font for its numbers, and maybe an argyle side panel down the pants (although John Bunting would never go for it, which is a different story). Imagine how distinctive Illinois's football team would look with those chunky numbers. Right away, you know you're not watching the other schools that wear orange and navy (Syracuse, UTEP, Virginia, Auburn) if you see those numbers on a jersey. It would upset a few purists, but it would look great. And it can go the other way - USC's football numbers for hoops, "SOONERS" football wordmark on the hoops jerseys, and so on.

Generally, fans of one team (i.e. Duke basketball) would support the other teams. And the converse is true - if you hate Duke (and you should :P) basketball, you probably don't root for Duke tennis. Schools have so many teams to include under their brand and identity package, uniformity among the teams makes the look of a given school that much more distinctive. I'm for it.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Are you kidding?!?!?! Those have to be the coolest helmets ive ever seen. I couldnt stop watching the game vs Louisville mainly because of how good the game was, but also because of how good their helmets look. I love Kentuckys uniforms. Im also in the majority on this board who likes monochrome (is that the right word?)

The football unis are OK, but this is the first time I have seen pictures of the new basketball jerseys.

I hate the way those stripes look, they are completely unnecessary and imo ruin what was a very classy jersey.

Don't get me wrong, the blue helmets are sweet, but the white helmets are even sweeter. Takes me back to the good old days of their 300 pound, left-handed QB. :D

What happened to Ja Lo any way?

He's now the 3rd string QB for the NY Giants.

The most nimble footed 300 pounder ever to play the quarterback position!
