MisterE Posted December 9, 2005 Share Posted December 9, 2005 While watching coverage of the Midway plane incident on CNN, across the bottom line it scrolled "Former Purdue Coach Gene Keady to take assistant job with the Toronto Raptors." It's great that he's got an NBA job, but it's only been eight months since he "retired" from Purdue. Two years ago, there were talks of him going to San Francisco, but agreed to coach Purdue one more season as he took SIU assistant and former Boiler, Matt Painter under his wing for Painter to take over for this season. I remember him saying he was going to enjoy his days golfing, but he's taken the job with Toronto. He's in his late 60's or early 70's and I am annoyed that he bothered to leave Purdue to take a job with one of the NBA's more lopsided teams, although I wouldn't blame him for leaving the University after the Boilers haven't been to the Tourney in three years or advanced very far in 5/6 years.
