Posted April 18, 2006 Share Posted April 18, 2006 is it just me or do the royals new sleeve patches look tacky and added on? they look like they were designing the uniform and realized "oh crap we didnt put a patch on it. quick lets slap something on it" they need to lose the white field surrounding the logo on the roads and alts. on the blue alt they need to outline the blue part of the logo with white but leave the gold crown alone. i imagine this has already been discussed but i didnt feel like wading through the past topics to find it. I always thought the defining mark for the franchise is the propensity to ship off all homegrown talent at the first sign of blossoming into a star. Though I guess that doesn't translate well onto a patch... Sodboy13 Posted April 18, 2006 Share Posted April 18, 2006 IIRC, Pantone said that the overabundance of white border on these patches was not featured in the MLB style guide. Apparently, the original plan was to just have a white outline of uniform thickness around the patch. Of course, that would have looked a whole lot better, but maybe someone at some level decided to take the quick and cheap route with these, turning the cut of the patch into an elongated home plate.
