St. Louis Satchmos

Upon learning that there is already a team in Montreal, I ditched the Montreal Romanians and came up with the St. Louis Satchmos. The name is inspired by Louis Armstrong, who was quite famous during his time in St. Louis. The jerseys are inspired by sheet music, as well as title cards from Charlie Chaplin movies/art deco. C+C please.

Try the Romanian coat of Arms on the jerseys rather than the "RH." Maybe even stylize the Romanian eagle.

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

For a name like Satchmos, you better have a trumpet in the logo. So says an old trumpet player.  :D

And isn't Louis Armstrong more associated with New Orleans than St. Louis?

I thought he was fairly well known in both places. I could be wrong though. I know he wrote a song called St. Louis Blues.

As for the logo, it was hard to find a good pic of a trumpet to use. I was actually hoping I might find a very simple, cartoony picture of Satchmo to use. But I couldn't and picked the easily recognisable treble clef.

He was born, raised, and became famous in the Big Easy. Regardless, it's a nice sounding name. As for a trumpet, perhaps you could find a larger version of the old St. Louis Blues secondary logo, and go from there.

Here is the home and road with with the trumpet logo as the primary and the treble clef as the shoulder logo. I just saved the St. Louis Blues logo as a monochrome bitmap, then got rid of the ring around it and added it to the set. C+C please.

It's not really working for me for the whites, though I think it's because how it was saved as a bitmap (a small case of the jaggies throws it off in comparison to the smoothness of the stripes and the treble clef), but it looks nice on the colours.
