NJTank
The latest Bobby Knight "scandal" smacking a player is the most glaring example yet of ESPN being out of touch. I am the first to post this topic on here nobody is talking about it but them, and to me it seems as if ESPN is deliberately trying to start a firestorm to get him fired before he wins 8 more games and becomes the winningest coach of all time. PaperAirplane31
That "smack" wouldn't hurt my 7 year old cousin.
TFoA
Exactly. And you can tell that pretty much everybody in "Sportsnation" thinks that this is a nonissue. 80% said it wasn't. Dumb ESPN, well, dumb media in general. But still, he shouldn't have done that, because everybody knows that since Knight has had a rocky ass relationship with the media over the years, that this would break out, and the media would take any chance they had to get something started. rams80
You're right...complete non-story.But the funny thing is, ESPN did its job (a little). We have a thread on it now. Squeaks4
I have been working on the computer for a good part of the entire day today, and I finally had to turn off espn because I honestly saw the replay of it 20+ times.
Jigga
Remember the Miami-FIU brawl? Broadcast media like a good controversy. It's the nature of the business...controversy drives viewership. This isn't new. It's not a NON story. Based on Knight's history, it's completely a story. However, it's non-sensical to think that ESPN would do something to get Knight fired since they put on a movie about him and his stupid Knight School show. You wouldn't try to get someone fired when you're too busy slurping his or rimming his . Plus with the exception of Doug Gottlieb, all the college basketball analysts think it's no big deal.I suggest getting the story RIGHT instead of hastily reporting conjecture. Isn't that what we EXPECT of our media in this country? On January 16, 2013 at 3:49 PM, NJTank said: Btw this is old hat for Notre Dame. Knits Rockne made up George Tip's death bed speech.
