here is what the clippers need to do to seperate their identity from the lakers:

1) get rid of their third jersey, replace it with the light blue/red throwback we saw ealier this year.

2) go back to the clippers logo from san diego (sail boats).

3) change the script on the home and away to match the script on the sail boat logo.

4) besides the changed scipt keep home and away unis unchanged with one more minor change. nautical flags that spell out "clippers" down each side of the shorts.

5) if the team stays in l.a. keep "LAC" logo. lose it if team moves.

* los angeles and san diego are the only cities that can call a team the clippers. so if the team leavs l.a. it should head back to san diego. with the chargers stuggling they could get decent fan turn out.

Clippers 3rd uni is more like their home uni from their early days in LA. It was red with "Los Angeles" in blue script with a white outline running diagonally from lower left to upper right across the chest:

Other teams from that era did the same thing (Jordan's first unis in Chicago said "Chicago" in cursive across the chest).

Note that the Lakers uniform you're referring to, the cursive runs horiztontally across the chest, not diagonally, and the word "Los" appears above the word "Angeles", not on the same line as in the Clippers uniform. The font is also different:

If anything, the Clippers' 3rd is a ripoff of the Clippers, not the Lakers!

The simple fact is that the Clippers aren't gonna attract an audience in LA whilst the Lakers are doing well (Which historically is pretty much all the time.) They need to move on, change identity and find there own niche.
