See Red
Wasn't pretty offensively but they got the job done. Francis pitched a gem, even with the two home runs. He shut down the top four and if the Rockies can continue to do that, the series is theres. Both teams are pitching rookies tomorrow. A lot more pressure for the Phillies Kendrick than Morales of the Rockies.
koizim
Or if you're a Braves fan and you have to hear about the Braves choking in the playoffs. As Hedley said, no Mets fan can EVER talk about the Braves choking after what just transpired in September. Not a single one. This is one season. Braves choke every year. So CHOKE, CHOKE, CHOKE. Atlanta CHOKES!Hello? When the Braves were winning their division, they managed to make the World Series five times (1991, 1992, 1995, 1996, 1999) and win it once (1995), as well. So I'd have to say that 5 pennants in 14 attempts is a bit better than one of, if not the, most spectacular divisional collapses in baseball history. Jeez, it's come to this: a Yankees fan defending the Braves.... Engine, Engine, Number Nine, on the New York transit line, If my train goes off the track, pick it up! Pick it up! Pick it up! Back on the scene, crispy and clean, You can try, but then why, 'cause you can't intervene. We be the outcast, down for the settle. Won't play the rock, won't play the pebble. VitaminD
Oh Charlie... why'd ya do it?You'd finally gotten the people on your side here. People were openly lobbying for you to get a multi-year deal ASAP to keep you here. Fans chanted your name and cheered your every move. Then you channeled Grady Little. All of sudden, 89 wins get flushed down the crapper on a bad gamble. Hell, the kid could've done no worse than surrender a grand slam; instead, you rely on LOLohse?Somewhere, John McNamara shares your pain. So does Dave Stapleton. "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.
