WNDUP FX
I've been playing around with the City of Ottawa O swirl in combination with the Sens famous O logo. Here's what I've come up with so far. Behance | @scotmccormack
aci
That's a really good, unique idea. I don't think I've seen anyone try it before. The O inside the O doesn't feel right, though. Maybe you should just put the red and black stripes on the outside of the main logo?p.s. I especially like the laurels on the right side of the logo, very nice touch. WNDUP FX
Thanks. I tried it without the white oval inside, but the black line gets lost in the black oval around it. I might just try to lighten the weight on the stroke and get rid of all the black, which I think is what's making the logo look so heavy. WNDUP FX
I think I prefer the weight on this one. The black isn't so dominant. It could be used as is on a white jersey and possibly with a white outline and then a black outline on that for darker tops. rbripley
This is wonderfully interesting and unique. I responded to the second one (lighter black lines) which has a very airy but confident feel to it. The laurels are a great idea (as someone mentioned previously).Have you thought about playing with the stripe - either enlarging or even filling the interior of the circle in two halves (black on bottom/red on top). With such a really unique approach to the rest of it, perhaps something a little more surprising might work? Either way, this is very, very cool. I can't wait to see it develop. Which is probably not to say I wouldn't, but a collective like this always gets the ideas flowing and from reading this board for a while it's quite apparent that the majority of the posters on here know what makes good design and more so why designs don't work and usually have suggestions on how to fix them. GMW79
Version two is my favorite so far. I don't think the red/black halves work so well. They make the O look out of place, IMO. What if you tried to add more of the classic barber pole pattern to version two? keep the red and black stripes in the middle, behind the O, but add another pair at the top and bottom. (i.e. red, black, white; red and black stripes that you have behind the O now; then white, red, black again).
WNDUP FX
I think it's definitely a lot fuller looking. Great idea GMW79.Do you guys think this would work as a shoulder patch design? Perhaps on the new 3rd they've been discussing. I don't think it's strong enough on it's own to be a logo on the front of the jersey. GMW79
Looks good! It's not as simple as I was envisioning, but this is cool. I think it does look more like a shoulder patch than a primary.
WNDUP FX
It wasn't difficult to create. My layers are well organized. Just a lot of Bring to Front and Send to Back in Illustrator. Behance | @scotmccormack
J Blackhawk
That last concept is just a little too busy. I really like the previous design, but perhaps lose the red outline on the center O and make it a little larger to fill the space?I love where you're going with this! Good Ottawa concepts are fun to see. BTW: 1st post
WNDUP FX
Hey, thanks for posting. Go Hawks!I went back to basics inspired by the Sens original patch on their jerseys for the early 90's with the serif S.Edit: Rereading your post, I think this is what you were suggesting. aph7824
I love everything you have posted in the thread--- and the logo gets better each time. The inside circle that's half red half black works perfect iwht the O.
OrangeBalloonCoast
have you thought of using the swirl thing as the O by itself?.. and then inside of the O shape some kind of combination of red, black, and white
