smith03
my understanding is that LA Angels were re-named on Sept 2 1965 during the season to California. Does anyone know why they did not just finish the season as the LA Angels? also did the team continue to use the LA hat? thanks Just say NO to gray facemasks. Quillz
Los Angeles Angels -> California Angels -> Anaheim Angels -> Los Angeles Angels [of Anaheim]No, they have used a variation of the "A" hat pretty much since the '70s. It's obviously short for "Angels," but since '05, could also be a slight reference to "Anaheim," too. Their original LA cap was retired in 1971, I think. Gothamite
Wow. I never knew that.I'm guessing that they kept the same caps. Dressed to the Nines shows that they wore "Angels" on the roads, but I don't know if that was for the entire season or only the end of it.(FWIW, he has them under "California Angels" for the entire season). The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
Swiss
I just tell you that I love those '60s Angels caps. It's great to be young and a Giant! - Larry Doyle
