FC Tampa Bay MLS rebrand

Just want to say, there are no actual rumors about the team joining the MLS, this is all for funsies.

In the "Top 3 soccer crests" thread, I saw how amazing the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers logo was. I was jealous, because they're my home team's rivals, and our logo kinda stinks.

So last night I started sketching a logo. I realized that I do soccer logos better freeform on inkscape. I really didn't have any aspects to keep other than green and yellow stripes, a star for the NASL championship, and the team name. I decided on a home plate shape crest, just something simple. The old and new team both had green/yellow/navy color schemes. I decided that I could change that. I swapped navy for a darker green. I've never made a soccer ball using shapes, I would always find clipart or something, but I'm glad I did for this. I made a cool soccer ball similar to most teams these days. The years on each side are the years the Rowdies were first founded. The jerseys are a mix of the currents, and old set, but mostly the old set. You know what? Just look.

I actually made a stadium concept for them just because. I might post that later.

I really like this. Diggin' the halftone effect in the crest. Love the throwback to the rowdies in the kits. Only thing that seems missing is some sort of staple, a symbol in the crest. It's just stripes and a ball, it leaves me wishing there was something more to it for some reason, great as it is.

Yeah, I can see that. I'm open to suggestions for that. I tried having a shape of Florida at the bottom, like i did on my last Tampa Bay Rowdies concept for the Adidas Championship Division last year. It just seemed kind of forced.

Here is a bigger version of the logo.

Well done. Much much better than the actual FCTB crest(either one, the current or their original Rowdies one). The font choice is nice, it adds a lot of interest unlike the bland fonts they actually use, which is a shame considering the wonderful goofiness of the old "Rowdies" script.

On that note, the only thing I think is missing here is the proper Rowdies name. I think the colors and hoops are iconic symbols of the Rowdies/FCTB, nothing more is needed on the crest IMO.

The kits are solid as well, I say if it ain't broke don't fix it. I think the 2011 blue/blue change set FCTB has is very sharp, but it just doesn't fit for them, and it's totally unnecessary as nobody else in the league (or MLS for that matter) has kits that clash with FCTB.

The star just floating above the logo sorta bugs me. It just seems like it's there, not really part of the logo. Like chestnutz said it does seem like it's missing a little something. Perhaps you should try to incorporate the star into the crest, like at the bottom or something. Of course then you'd have to change it with more championships, which then multiple stars would look best at the top. Idk, just throwing out ideas. Uniforms look really nice.

THe star is pretty much for effect, I guess. If you look at the mothership's logos, than they aren't there. Even though teams like Los Angeles and Houston have them on their jersey. Sure i could take it off, but what fun is that? Hahaha

i like the logo but i don't like the jerseys. too busy for my taste. maybe you should try to do the jersey like manchester united road kit from upcoming season.

I don't know if you are aware, but FCTB actually has jerseys that look like those Man U kits:

But the green and gold hooped sleeves and socks ARE the Rowdies and soccer in Tampa Bay if you ask me. And it looks damn good(and that's coming from a die hard Striker Liker who absolutely hates the Rowdies).

On the subject of the star above the crest, I think it's fine, though I find it a bit bogus considering FCTB has no connection to the old Rowdies who won that title. If FCTB can get away with it then the Strikers ought to put one over their crest for the 1989 National Championship the Strikers(2.0) won by beating the San Diego Nomads in the ASL-WSL championship match.

A pro team needs a pro stadium, right? So I made a stadium concept for fun. A location there are talks about for the Rays' stadium is the Florida State Fairgrounds. Sure enough, there was enough room for a stadium there. I made a horseshoe type stadium. I was going for 3 sides, then a section for members of the Supporter's group, Ralph's mob. I might make a logo for them actually. Pretty Simple I guess. I wanted to try something new, and have a the big piece of grass connecting to the outside. The seats go in a green and yellow pattern, as you can see. Also, I positioned the stadium in view of the whole complex, with the fairgrounds, ampatheatre, and Hard Rock Casino
