Saintsfan
It is worth pointing out that England didn't lose out to Qatar, England lost out to Russia, Australia lost out to Qatar. That's not to say Qatar is a great host nation, but England didn't lose out to Qatar. 2011/12 WFL Champions
mattwswfc
It is worth pointing out that England didn't lose out to Qatar, England lost out to Russia, Australia lost out to Qatar. That's not to say Qatar is a great host nation, but England didn't lose out to Qatar.Yes another tournament in which the vast majority of foreign players will be racially abused by yet another Eastern European host (see Euro 2012).But the point I am trying to make is Australia as well as America would have been a better alternative and no doubt great host for the 2022 World Cup. Another interesting thing is the 'planned' city thing in Qatar in which they hope to construct cities and hope that people will live there. What happens if those plans fall through or people decide not to move there? How can they justify building a 82,500 seater stadium in a massive wasteland?Surely someone on that voting panel must have thought this out? I don't know but it seems ridiculous that Qatar, a country that has never qualified for the world cup and was still part of the British empire 40 years, has gained enough merit or 'brownie points' to deserve one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world!
