our own version of Around the horn

There is no way Randy Johnson is going to be traded. He is the face of the Arizona Diamondbacks franchise and trading him would be too devastating to not only their team but there fan base as well. Trading Johnson would be the stupidest thing that the Diamondbacks could do. No one represents the Arizona Diamondbacks like Johnson does. Time wise, I think Johnson still has at least three more seasons to go, possibly four, so long as he dosn't get hurt. He's just as good now he was at any other time in his career and I see him playing until he is 43 or 44, pending injury.

Just a suggestion You guys should limit it to a week so we have a different Around the Horn each week.

Yea...I like that idea a lot, because if someone didn't quit, I wouldn't have gotten the spot in it, and actually, if we went in order of who requested one originally....NJTank should have replaced the person who quit...but either way...yea I like the one a week thing....

you guys need to respond

I think this has taken too long, it might be time to start over.

But in any case. . . .

pick who should be the all star starters and tell why

American League Starters

C - Ivan Rodriguez - Tigers: The man is on a hot streak after hitting .500 for the month of June. He currently leads the majors with his .384 BA and has 10 home runs and 56 RBI's so far. Other Nominees: Javy Lopez (Baltimore)

1B - Ken Harvey - Royals: Heading to the break Harvey has a .326 BA with 8 home runs. If not Harvey than Paul Konerko at first, who is hitting .276 with 20 homers and 54 RBI's. Other Nominees Scott Hateburg (Oakland)

2B - Alfonso Soriano - Rangers: The other guy the Rangers got from the Yankees for Rodriguez is having just as good a season as his trade counterpart. He's hitting .294 with 12 dingers and 45 RBI's. He's a key part of the Rangers being at the top of their divison this year. Other Nominees: Ronnie Belliard (Cleveland)

3B - Hank Blalock - Rangers: The hero of last year's game with a pinch hit deserves to start this year with his .312 average, 21 home runs and 57 RBI's. Other Nominees: Melvin Mora (Orioles) and Alex Rodriguez (Yankees)

SS - Michael Young - Rangers: Young is making people forget about A-Rod in Texas. His .326 average, 10 dingers, 46 RBI's, 111 hits (tops in majors), and 6 triples (top 5 majors) make him the top canidate for the SS spot on the AL roster. Other Nominees: Miguel Tejada (Baltimore) and Carlos Guillen (Detroit) who are both having very good seasons.

OF - Vladmir Guerrero - Angels: .342 average, 19 homers, 69 RBI's. Nuff said.

OF - Manny Ramirez - Red Sox: Ramirez follows closely behind Guerrero's stat line with a .340 average, 22 homers and 62 RBI's. So if one goes, so must the other.

OF - Carl Crawford - Devil Rays: The fastest guy in the league has 35 steals and a .311 for the Devil Rays who are putting together some season. His 8 triples is second only to Chone Figgins 11. Crawford is the spark plug to the Devil Rays order, getting them going right away. Other Nominees (OF): Ichiro Suzuki (Seattle)

SP - Mark Mulder - Athletics: Mulder is quietly putting together a good season. With the 40 somethins shining over the young guns, Mulder has pitched himself to a 10-2 mark with a 2.90 and 4 complete games. He's probably not going to start, but he should. Other nominess: Kenny Rodgers (Texas)

National League Starters:

C - Johnny Estrada - Braves: This a toss up, but give it to Estrada who has the best batting average of any NL catcher at .335. 1/3 of his 77 hits have been for doubles this year. Other Nominees: Jason Kendall (Pittsburgh) and Paul Lo Ducca (Los Angeles)

1B - Jim Thome - Phillies: He leads the majors with his 27 round trippers and holds a nice .308 average. It'd be a disappointment if the leagues leading long ball hitter going into the break wasn't a starter. Other Nominees: Sean Casey (Cincinnati) and Todd Helton (Colorado)

2B - Mark Loretta - Padres: Loretta holds a .319 average from the top of the order. He's one short of a 100 hits and has 24 doubles so far. Other Nominees: Luis Castillo and Jose Vidro

3B - Scott Rolen - Cardinals: His league leading 76 run scorers and .342 average make him a no-brainer to handle the hot corner for the All-Star game. Other Nominees: Aramis Ramirez (Cubs) and Adrian Beltre (Los Angeles)

SS - Jack Wilson - Pirates: No other NL SS's numbers are near Wilsons .339 BA and 107 hits. Other nominees: Barry Larkin (Cincinatti)

OF - Barry Bonds - Giants: Barry is a shoe-in. The most feared hitter in the game boasts a .353 avg., 21 home runs, 44 RBI's, only 16 K's and has been walked 116 times allready this season.

OF - Danny Bautista - D'Backs: Forgotten in Arizona, Bautista started this season with a long hitting streak and now has .316 avg, 10 dingers, and 48 RBI's to show for it.

OF - Lance Berkman - Astros: Berkman is hitting .301 with 16 round shots and 58 RBI's. As nice as it would be to see the 500 HR club roam the outfield the first inning, these guys deserve it. Other Nominees: JD Drew (Atlanta), Miguel Cabrera (Florida) and Steve Finley (Arizona)

SP - Roger Clemens - Astros: Here's the Rockets time to shine in his home town for the All-Star game. Other Nominees: Jason Schmidt (San Fransisco) and Randy Johnson (Arizona)
