  1. We're definitely living in a time where the nostalgia monster is going full bore through the 90s, so I think that heavily contributes to why jerseys like the Raptors split colours are getting so much love. That said, I agree. There is such a finite space on basketball uniforms to make the look your own that little details like the trees on the trim for Minnesota or the wacky number fonts give the uniforms character.
  2. Magic is definitely up there, but there's a vagueness to Wild that makes it worse than the others.
  3. My biggest issue with the Nuggets branding is the use of all three primary colours together, which I am hard to pressed to think of an example of that I would say is anything better than "not terrible".
  4. So a new number font and a brighter green? I see where you're coming from in regards to the green and black not contrasting enough, but I don't really feel that makes the uniform "dated". Its a pretty classic, simple design. If they were to update the number font I would like to see something in the same vein, maybe with the drop shadow removed. Overall though I would put other teams ahead of them in the most dated categories.
  5. Well luckily for you there are lots of threads to discuss your feelings on the branding decisions made by leagues in other sports.
  6. Every league has its share dysfunctional nonsense. Whether or not you think its "minor league" is basically dependent on how popular hockey is where you live. "Unserious". How serious is a game supposed to be? This isn't the "Amarillo Sod Poodles" or "Rip City Remix". Is the issue that they're not real? Does that make the NFL unserious for having the "Titans" or the NBA unserious for having the "Wizards"?
  7. The "Kraken" name is goofy, and the jury is still out on how well it will age, but its nowhere near as bad as "Wild". In terms of bad names, the Wild is in a league of its own in the big four sports leagues. The only thing that comes close were the leaked Professional Women's Hockey League names that were so bad they decided to scrap them entirely and go strictly with the city names and generic templates until they could come up with something else.
  8. No that's pretty bang on. The 5280s seem incredibly gimmicky. I equate it to something like the Giants putting 'subtle' apples all over the uniform because some people refer to New York as the 'Big Apple'.
  9. Looks like these are going to be the logos for the 2024 Grey Cup Festival logo is pretty generic, though there's nothing wrong with it. The actual Grey Cup logo looks like they took the template from last year's game in Hamilton and just removed the skyline in favour of that orange pattern. I'm still trying to figure out what the shape is supposed to be,
  10. Why does it have 5280? Does that number have any significance to the city of Denver? On a completely unrelated note, does anyone know Denver's official altitude? I know its probably never been discussed before, but I sure wish cities would spam their official distance from sea level at every possible opportunity so we never forget how thin the air is there.
  11. On the subject of team's having a unique identity, I don't think another team wearing black and multiple shades of "hot" colours is great for building a brand. We've got Anaheim, Vegas, Calgary and Vancouver's thirds in those, and thats just the Pacific division. It feels like its becoming what double blue was to the 2010s. I really would like to see Utah wear purple. Not just because I want to see purple back in the NHL, but because I think it would look good and fit Utah really well.
  12. You have to do both. You need a colour scheme that matches your identity, but the whole point of having an "identity" is that it is identifiable as yours.
  13. It really is baffling. The more I see the Broncos uniforms the more I am reminded of the Seahawks uniforms, with the triangle serving the role the "feather" does for the Seahawks. Whatever the hell this triangle stripe is, is the equivalent of the tire track on the Seahawks helmets.
  14. No red and black. How about red and blue? That hasn’t been done before.
