  1. Yes, but in fairness its a sky blue and not a dark blue like most others.
  2. Honestly its not bad. Its not a cartoon water tower swinging a bat which is what I was expecting.
  3. Florence Freedom of the independent Frontier League will reveal their new name tonight. The Top five choices were the Go-Goettas, Fossil Jockeys, Y'alls, Pop Flies, and the No Sox. florenceyalls.com redirects to the Freedom website.
  4. Florence Y'alls has significant meaning to the area. Across the highway from the ballpark is a water tower and the Florence Mall. The water tower originally read Florence mall but was changed to Florence Y'all after legal concerns. I got a feeling this name will win out. They already have Wally, the water tower as their mascot. Go-Goettas also works locally after a local meat called goetta (pronounce "getta"), usually made with pork and or beef with oats and spices. Its similar to scrapple (a similar version found on the east coast).
  5. Well okay at least it isnt the (unnecessary adjective) animals. Im fine with Worcester Red Sox or WooSox. Oh and apparently Worcester is the birthplace of the iconic smiley face. As for the Heart W, Worcester was also the home for the first commercial valentine.
  6. So a video is up on their twitter showing a brick wall and someone shaking a can of spray paint. Worcester Taggers?
  7. The Missoula Osprey will unveil their new name and logo on Monday at around 10:30 am (Missoula time) on their facebook page.
  8. At this point the Atlantic League and American Association should merge too. Supposedly New Britain is leaving the Atlantic League, leaving them with an uneven team count, not to mention their lone team outside the Atlantic footprint in Sugar Land Texas. The American Association may or may not lose Kansas City. The T-Bones were just evicted from their stadium, and are looking for a buyer.
  9. If anything it more reminds me of the Northern League/ Northeast League merger in 1999-02. its pretty much the same footprint but i think this one could work as the Frontier and Can-Am are more stable leagues than what was the GBL/Northern League/UBL combo.
  10. Ive heard rumors of a possible frontier league- Can Am merger. Ive also heard the ballpark and city are looking at putting a new team in the Frontier League to replace the Rascals. Meanwhile in the American Association the Kansas City T-Bones are being evicted from their ballpark at seasons end.
  11. ECHL Brampton Beast with new jerseys and logo
  12. Only if the full version of In A Gadda Da Vida is played between each at bat.
  13. Battle Creek Rumble Bees introduced as the final club in the FPHL (formerly FHL) for this season. God awful name and logo
  14. Cincinnati needs to get out of the American.
  15. Honestly the Florida experiment should have ended a while ago. Miami and Tampa are better off in the Florida State League. Lets get baseball back to Montreal and to maybe Portland, Las Vegas, Charlotte or Nashville.
  16. Danbury returns to the Federal Hockey League with the Hat Tricks. Not a bad identity for a low level minor league. Danbury is known as Hat City for its hat making history and ties. A great tie in to hockey with the name.
  17. They have said that Kannapolis will be part of the name but loved the Piedmont Boll Weevils name. The way MiLB branding has been the past couple years, Boll Weevils would be a good fit.
  18. This is their fifth identity they have taken (not counting the Tacos or what ifs) since the team began in 1998. Seems a bit much.
  19. On February 15 the Cincinnati Cyclones will play as the Cincinnati Flying Pigs to honor the cities pork industry, flying pigs and the Flying Pig Marathon. The story behind Cincinnati and flying pigs: In the 1980s, as part of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the city, a park was built along the river and named Bicentennial Commons at Sawyer Point. British Artist Andrew Leicester was commissioned to construct a sculpture to stand at the park’s entrance. The piece he created consists of four crowned smokestacks, which recall the importance of the riverboat to the city’s history. Atop each smokestack is a small statue of a pig. In an apparent fit of whimsy, Leicester adorned the creatures with wings. He later explained that this was to symbolize the hogs’ ascent to Heaven, as they gave their souls to make the city great.
