  1. Charlotte was a Metro member in the 90s though, and Atlanta had a team in the conference in the beginning (Georgia Tech). I figured they'd be more realistic choices because of media market considerations. That said, your version of the Metro looks pretty good too. I'd be happy with either one of them.
  2. In my speculative universe, Georgia Tech and Florida State took Big XII invites, thereby negating the need for them to go after Louisville or Cincy. But should UL and UC leave, the door is open for Tulane (an original Metro member), FIU, Old Dominion or UTSA.
  3. It's January 2015 and the Big East is no longer a member of the BCS. No longer finding it necessary to remain in a conference too bloated for its own good, the southern members break off and re-form the Metro Conference, inviting Charlotte, UAB and Georgia State to bring them to an even 10 members with a presence in nearly every major media market in the south. School (DMA #) Non-BE Members Underlined Charlotte (#25) Cincinnati (#35) Houston (#10) Louisville (#48) Memphis (#49) SMU (#5) South Florida (#14) UAB (#39) UCF (#19) Georgia State (#9) Unlike the old Metro Conference, this one will sponsor football as all 10 members have teams. They invite UConn and Temple, the remaining full-time Big East members who play football to become affiliates with the new Metro, giving them enough teams for a championship game. The divisions lay out like so. East Division Charlotte Connecticut* Georgia State South Flordia Temple* UCF West Division Cincinnati Houston Lousiville Memphis SMU UAB *Affiliate Football Member
  4. Is there a good approximation for the lettering here?
  5. Agreed. Even if the uniforms are what we're expecting, they're still an upgrade over what they had before.
  6. The Steelers uniforms no longer work with modern cuts and, as a Steeler fan, I would propose a fairly drastic change. I would love to see them go the same route as Northwestern and put the stripes across the chest of th jersey. I think this template begs to be used for the Steelers:
  7. Judging by this one pic, I completely agree. It was said by someone back when he first posted it, but I'll say it again: too many teams have switched from athletic gold to metallic gold. Just look at teams like the Brewers, Penguins, Stars, and Rams. Of those teams, only the Brewers was an upgrade, IMO. The Stars was a lateral move, and the Penguins and Rams were downgrades. I agree... except for the part about the Brewers. The way gold was used on the Germanic sets was tolerable, but it looks terrible on the Miller-inspired sets. That said, the shade of gold I'm proposing for the Packers is a lot more subtle than the gold used by the teams you named, and the Packers actually have a historical precedent for using this particular shade (or at least something close enough to it). Maybe they could switch to it for one year, say... 2018 (their 100th season).
  8. Red helmet is more Chiefs than Bills to me. Before now, I never realized how few NFL teams wear red helmets (only 3 if you count Washington). Honestly, I wish the NFL would relent on its "one helmet" policy. Both the current helmet and the 90's version are great looks for the Bills (although I like the white one SLIGHTLY better).
  9. I'd still prefer they go white/light blue/white, but I do like it better this way than with the navy pants.
  10. I agree with you. The more "innovative" they try to get, the worse they look. The one flaw I could see is them being accused of beongtoo similar to the Packers. There's no striping, the numbers are yellow, and Oregon uses a noticeably different shade of green. I don't think I'd worry about that. But yeah, this is the best Oregon has ever looked IMO.
  11. You mean like what the Colts use? I couldn't see it NOT working, but I'm not sure it's necessary. The side panels are thick enough to overcome any "washout" possibilities, and everywhere else on the jersey has white to provide the necessary contrast. Although it wouldn't hurt if the Broncos added a white outline to the side panel on the homes (like the orange one on the roads).
  12. Disagree. I think there's good ways to have non-traditional striping, but the back of the Broncos helmet is a clunky mess and the Titans (and Ravens) stripes just look cheap, unfinished and weak.
  13. I'm starting to realize that for the orange Broncos jerseys to work, the blue needs to be royal and not navy.
  14. Right uniform, "wrong" number. To me, Deion had such a memorable year with the 49ers that this looks just as "right" here as he does as a Falcon or Cowboy. On the other hand...
  15. I agree, they're not that bad. They just could've been a lot better.
  16. I believe they tried at one point, but the backlash forced them to rethink. There wasn't a backlash, Ron Wolf just got cold feet at the last minute. Also, IIRC, that gold was supposed to be closer to what Notre Dame uses. The Packers actually have a historical precedent for wearing this gold from the 1950s.
  17. So in addition to a Big Ten with 12 teams and a Big XII with 10 teams, we have two schools with teams in the Big East and Big West.
  18. Eh... I don't think it's the worst idea for Idaho to be independent for awhile, but if they don't at least have some type of plan in place to build a new stadium, they might as well go back to the Big Sky.
  19. Does anyone know of a font that's a good approximation of Wisconsin's "electrical tape W"?
  20. Inspired by the once-worn thread... The Packers should use this shade of gold.
  21. Is that Thomas Landry as in the Cowboys Legendary Coach, Tom Landry? Yes, as a New York Giant during his days as a player. I know he was a Giant. I just thought how ironic it is that cmm posted a player card of an old Giant player who happens to be the most recognizable Dallas Cowboys figure. The Packers' most recognizable figure... also as a Giant.
  22. Segueing nicely into an unpopular opinion of mine: I like the Champion number font. It's legible and classic without looking too "blocky". I love it, too. Should all teams use it? No. Did it look cheap when they made Emmitt Smith replica jerseys in that font? Absolutely. That doesn't mean it's not great for some teams. To me, a kid growing up in the '90s, that font IS the Buffalo Bills. Their jerseys really lost something with Logo Athletic took over and gave them standard block. I wished the new Bills jerseys used that font. Holy crap, this whole time I thought you were in your 40s.
  23. Not sure that's an unpopular opinion. I've certainly always felt outnumbered when I sing my praises about that look.
