I took it to specifically mean the black alternates and not the removal of "black" as a concept from all the uniforms. I also assumed they would just have different black alternates next year because the black alternate is a part of Stamps branding and lore.

There was also another person in the locker room at the same time as me talking with a Stamps employee of some kind and they were both lamenting the fact that they can't wear the black helmets anymore because of how cool they looked. I'm not one for public confrontation, especially for something as insignificant as that, but I almost said something above me giving them a quizzical look.

Oh I see. Shoot. But thanks for clarifying. I thought you meant there would be no black alternates going forward. Too bad.

you totally should have said something

Maybe for next season’s thread, but I’m in line at the Stampeders locker room sale and a lady came outside and told the front of the line that the black jerseys might be a good buy because they aren’t coming back next year.

    Fantastic!

Oh trust me... no I didn't.

We all get that the name isn't great and hell, even I wanted them to go with "Fort Worth" despite the fact that I'm glad they used the Panther City moniker, but these subtle, smug (and slightly ignorant) comments get on my nerves.

You could ask why the team is named that, maybe learn something about a city that's new to this sport and pretty much never gets any attention outside of TCU, but nah, let's all just crap on it and throw out stereotypes.

I’m not seeing anyone being smug. It’s a message board where we share opinions….but I digress.

The reason people don’t like “Panther City” isn’t because of the reasoning Fort Worth has that nickname.

Smart branding is about making it clear what you are selling. In this case, it’s not clear what city this team plays in. For me, the hardcore NLL fan, I looked up the name and I understand it. For someone who’s never really heard of the sport or is vaguely familiar they’ll go “weird name” and move on.  They won’t be bothered to look things up.  I’ve actually had someone tell me “it’s cool that San Antonio is getting an NLL team”.  I asked them why they came up with that. They said the logo looks like a panther in front on the Alamo. So, to my point, the marketing clearly didn’t work. Could this person have looked up what the team is and why the name? Sure but they didn’t because they didn’t care enough.  I think it’s fair to say that’s a marketing fail.

Can you imagine if the Toronto Maple Leafs were called the Hogtown Maple Leafs”?  It’s poor marketing and it doesn’t make sense to put yourself behind the 8 ball like that especially as a new franchise.

And people really think the clip art boat logo is better

Yes we do. ...but I've said my piece before. Like @clonewars2008mentioned, nostalgia plays a role.

So instead of going on about that (and potentially coming off as hostile, which is not my intention) I have to say: The striping on this version of the helmet is SO MUCH better. I wish they'd adopt this striping for the regular helmet,

socks, while drawing a lot less attention than  pants, jerseys and helmets

I’d go as far as to say that bad looking socks draw attention more than pants, jerseys or, helmets. Those are all the same and, beside pants length, can’t really change.

Bad socks can :censored: up a whole uniform

I heard it’s going to be different colors and hopefully an updated logo.  I assume they will stay as the Roughnecks. I can’t see them changing the name after 20 seasons and reigning ‘19 champs. They are going to announce a new corporate sponsor so I’m thinking that the logo will have those colors. The big thing is not NFT, has to do with the playing surface.

    My sentiments exactly.

    Thanks for the insight!

It is a rebrand/jersey release. Ryan Popowich (director of marketing for the flames) confirmed it with me. The article had said 10 am MT (noon ET) so I’m not sure if it will be then or 4pm.

As in a new nickname for the team? Or just a new look?

I don’t think there’s any confusion over that point.  It it doesn’t make the boat with a football as a hull look any less ridiculous on their helmets.

I don’t think it looks ridiculous at all.

now if the boat had a face and was smiling or angry…sure that’d be real stupid.

Here’s the cool thing about the Argos; they have a whole catalogue of nice logos. Som prefer Jason with the shield (I admit I was one of those until I hit my 30s).
the shield is a bit less “gimmicky” and it’s nice too.
i like the football boat because of the teams roots of being a secondary activity the rowing team did to stay in shape in the off season.

as a result, at least in my opinion, you can’t really go wrong

This is the sloppiest looking pro uniform I've ever seen. I would have guessed this photo was taken during practice

Some sleeve stripes and this guy pulling his socks up (or pant legs down) would make a world of difference

I wonder what the issue could be.  Gonna try clearing cache on every device.  Just now, I got logged out of desktop, logged in, and was then almost instantly logged out of phone.  Signed back into phone and am now logged on in both places... but I bet I'm now signed out of my laptop.  I get that this makes it sound that I'm connected to this forum 24hrs a day on a lot of devices, but it's not like that (though my posting history might indicate otherwise.)

On another note, notifications started working all of a sudden, after not (ever) working... so that's good.

Seems to have a mind of its own for you

That was correct, until Saturday.  I logged in using my email address on my phone, and was (understandably) logged out on my laptop and desktop.  I've since logged in to both with my email address (which is now what's saved), but am logged out any time I use a different device.

For example, I was just browsing on my phone, and am posting this from my desktop (which was logged in, until I logged in to my phone), and I had to log in again, even though my email was saved.

Is there a one-device limit now?

    Gotcha!

I’ve had zero problems like that and I switch between phone, work computer and, home computer. So I doubt there’s a limit.

Since Saturday, I need to re-log-in every time I use the forum on a different device.  For example, if I'm posting from in phone, I have to log in on the phone.  Then when I go to the laptop, I need to log in there.  If I go back to phone, I need to log in again.

It's not the bug where you just click the banner and you're good - I'm literally being logged off any time I use a different device.  I use three devices, so that's a little annoying.  Anything anyone can think of that would cause this?

Note - up until Saturday, I hadn't had to log in using the email address for user name - I had just been logged in under my username forever.  I got a new phone on Saturday, so that was the first time I needed to log in using my email address, and that's when this issue started.

I'm guessing your username and password is saved as the log in but in June it changed to being email being needed instead of username.

    Just a guess.
