  1. I noticed that about the Canucks as well. Lots with neon green too.
  2. Especially when they think they've got the real deal and are bragging how cheap they got it. I was wearing a road Blue Jays jersey (Romero) on sunday at the batting cages and a guy came up to me and asked why I haven't bought a new one yet (I have bought a new one actually not that he'd know) so I said told him "they aren't cheap" hoping to leave it at that and walk away. He calls his son over and goes "dude you need to know where to go" and shows me his son's crappy knock off. The font was all wrong and I was just like "whatever you paid, it was too much. That's a knockoff." He wasn't having it and went on about how it's real and I should stop "giving Rogers money when it's available for cheaper". I left it alone and said "ok, have a good day." but it's just like...come on man. Worst part is this happens so often, why do people feel the need to brag about their :censored:ty knockoffs?
  3. Unless he is counting the last two that were goalless after 90?? Those, IMO, were the best ones. He said: "Most WC finals end in 0-0 and a penalty shoot out" It's happened once, ever. Somewhat Ironically in 1994 when the US hosted. But yes, I agree those were some of the best games. Granted the Dutch loss in South Africa was also the most painful, lol.
  4. Yeah... that's it. All those 0-0 final scores
  5. ^ Yeah, coming back to this thread today, I think that I just misread that statement. My bad.
  6. Brampton currently has an ECHL team, I'm not sure I follow this statement. I mean, I won't be surprised if the team folds because, well, attendance is :censored:. Besides a pocket schedule available at in line at the beer store, I haven't seen much advertisement for the team either. And I drive by the arena daily (on my way to and from work)
  7. And the Beast (or the new bulldogs..or whatever) move to the AHL? But with what players? Gotta have an affiliation. I had thought earlier today that there was some traction for Ottawa moving the B-Sens to Hamilton, but then I saw that they re-upped in Bingo till 2019. That was going to be my next question, lol. The Beast are bad, like really bad, even for an ECHL team, they can't possibly think that they would be able to transition to the AHL.

  9. Outside of an affiliation with the Leafs (or maybe the Sabres) I would bet my pay cheque that they will be gone. Besides the last-ditch effort by the CeHL it was also a last-ditch attempt by our former mayor to have a team for our arena here. I've heard that the mayor/city played hardball with the Battalion to increase the rent but as soon as they left town the rent was halved or more to get this team to come to Brampton.
  10. I'm from Brampton. I've gone to a couple games this year. Trust me, they aren't averaging 2,000. They tarp off sections of a 5,000 seat arena and the place is rarely half full. I generally buy seats in a corner section because that means I get the section pretty much to myself. I interviewed with the team for a sales position (before the season) and I turned it down because the team basically said that they guaranteed 2 to 4 weeks of work, which sounded like cold calling for season seats. So this internship thing doesn't surprise me. It's a joke, I have story after story about this team in their year and a half that just goes to show it's been a joke since day one. Unless they become the Leafs ECHL affiliate, I don't see a chance this team is around next season.
  11. Exactly!! 6 teams, play each team once, top four move on to a semi final, then finals (which apparently is going to be a best-of-3). Done. If the NHL really wants, they could develop a "B" tournament where the bottom team in the "A" tournament gets swapped out the next time it's contested with the winner of the "B" tournament. I mean, if they actually are trying to grow the sport world-wide like they claim they are. The World Championships already do that. I didn't say it was an original idea. I'm saying it's just easy and makes sense.

  13. Speaking to that "honored not retired their number" thing, the Leafs do that. They only have retired numbers 5 (Bill Barilko) & 6 (Ace Bailey)
  14. Even when there was a junior "a" team in Brampton that I used to go watch (because my house league team got the ice after their games) every Wednesday we had to wait until play stopped to go to our seat.
  15. The CHL has a history of coming down harder only players than the NHL and if I'm being honest, I like it. I think the NHL should do the same. Look, say what you will about tinder being what it is (and I have been on it in the past, it's stupid and just a waste of time. A online dating "wasteland".) but the simple fact is this: #1: cyber-bullying is not a joke. Be it what the guys said or what the girls said in this situation, they are both wrong to hide behind their phone screen and think it's ok. This is still real life. #2: These players are in the public eye. Knowing that, they need to act appropriately no matter if it's in person or online. End of story.
  16. Here is the information that the ECHL tweeted would be provided.
  17. ECHL ‏@ECHL 25m25 minutes ago The #ECHL will announce the revised divisional alignment and format for the 2015 Kelly Cup Playoffs today at 3 p.m. ET
  18. Having gone to a few games and seeing the attendance, I can see that happening.
  19. Based on that report, the ECHL will take all the CHL teams left. Interesting. I did not see that coming. Should be interesting to see if the CHL teams have to adjust their rosters based on the ECHL rules this year or they will get 1 season leeway to adjust.
  20. woah....it's going to happen this year? That's a lot of work in a short period of time!
  21. I'm certain the plan was always to do this for 2015-16. I spoke to a friend of a friend who works for the Brampton Guardian (the local paper). He worked for the Battalion before they moved up to North Bay too. He told me that the Beast are actually just hoping that they get taken along to the ECHL but as far as he knows there is nothing promised. I think this whole re-shuffle would be smart. I don't think there is any need for the CeHL. I've been to a few Beast games and, good on these guys for chasing their dreams, but at a certain point you aren't gonna make it. Plus I hear that a lot of CeHL players come to the league with the idea of being closer to home but end up back over in Europe after a season or 2 because they end up with way more money in their pocket. Apparently in Europe they get paid plus all their food/travel/living arrangements are taken care of by the team where as food(on game day or on the road)/travel is all the CeHL does. ......I kind of got off on a rant there. Sorry. My point is that I don't think there really is a need for a AA level of pro hockey and re-organizing the minors is needed.
  22. My mom bought me a present recently. I'll probably wear it when I visit her once or twice before getting rid of it. Not the green-ish blue colour in the logo and the stitching on the 9. I smiled and thanked her, as her heart was in the right place but i'm sure you all know how I felt. Like most of us here I'm the guy pointing out all the fake jerseys at games.
  23. Only mods can send messages to more than 1 recipient. Thanks
  24. Here's a question: I'm trying to send a message to more than 1 recipient but it is not working. I am able to select the 1st recipient from the list but not the 2nd one. I have left a space and, have used a comma with a space. Neither seem to work. I'm sure it's something small and stupid that I'm over looking but can someone please advise?
  25. Yup. you are right VictoriaGooner. But that will leave plenty of time for the 2026 bid. If you mean to take over for a potential moving of the Qatar world cup, you are spot on. Canada won't be ready. The stadium won't be ready but more importantly, Canada's national team is at the end of a cycle of players who (though not amazing...we almost got to the hex) were at a peak. We are going through a rebuilding and it will take time to have a team that won't just embarrass itself at a world cup. Rams, I have been under the impression that Victor Montagliani (CSA President) is very much willing to spend to get a world cup in Canada. From what has been reported Soccer Canada, after the referendum a couple years ago, has been very focused on bringing big events to Canada to promote growing the sport. That said, how many 40 thousand plus stadiums do you need? BMO, Roger's Centre, Olympic Stadium, BC place, Commonwealth Stadium and, McMahon stadium (with the expandable seating) are all 40 thousand plus stadiums. I'm pretty sure that the rest coming in at 30 thousand will do fine. The exception being the Moncton stadium, it's expandable to 20,000 right now. That said I've heard it is essentially just risers so I can't see it being a huge issue to just add more seating. So in terms of spending money, Olympic stadium would need work (at the very least bringing in a field that would be FIFA approved) and expanding Moncton's stadium.
