  1. I dunno about this one. This reminds me of those commercials that basically say that smoking pot is supporting terrorism. Sure, that's maybe true in a very small amount of cases, but it's still an enormous stretch.
  2. Off topic, but I've always wondered. If you were to buy a Green Bay Packers authentic jersey, would it be in the Nike cut or the traditional cut that they actually use?
  3. While the majority agree with this sentiment, and rightfully so, there are reasons why people still buy counterfeit sports goods. I don't agree with buying fake jerseys for all of the reasons mentioned, but I really don't have any sympathy for these large companies who produce these jerseys on the cheap, and often with questionable labor practices themselves, and sell them for $300-$400 apiece. If these major companies really want to lessen the purchase of fake goods, they're going to have to change their pricing models. Most people who buy jerseys don't have nearly the intellect when it comes to this stuff that most of us here who really care about this stuff do. Most people see a great deal and that's all that matters. They don't even have the ability to think about the consequences, because they aren't even aware of the problem. If anything at all positive can come from counterfeit goods, it's going to have to come from the companies themselves by offering quality goods at reasonable prices. I've yet to hear any other solution to this problem that is really feasible. Tl;dr: I don't support counterfeit goods, but I certainly understand why people buy them. These major companies really brought this problem on themselves.
  4. I dunno, they'll be in the same league with teams called the Bees, Isotopes, and River Cats. I don't think it's that out of place.
  5. I remember them making a pretty big deal about him winning his first Super Bowl ring to go along with all of his AFC Championship rings he won with the Bills. I wasn't quite sure if he was on the second of those Packers Super Bowl teams though.
  6. Is $7 a game for hockey tickets unusually cheap? I paid about the same for Diamondbacks season tickets. I think Coyotes season tickets are pretty similar too. They'll also throw in a 5 bedroom house in Glendale and commercial space at Westgate as well!
  7. Uggh. I'm stuck seeing this piece of garbage at least a handful of times every day.
  8. Maybe I look at it differently since I live in a city, but parking spots are valuable real estate that has more demand than supply. Also charging for parking encourages use of pt which benefits everybody. I do get that the situation is different in the coyotes case, and in the west / southwest in general. Also - are sports events really that cheap out there, $40 for a cardinals ticket? $5 for dbacks / suns? Yeah if you know where to look. The D Backs play to a house that's 3/4 of the way empty as it is, so tickets aren't too hard to come by. The Cardinals vary a bit. Tickets to see them play the Chargers this weekend started at around $20. Last week vs Dallas though, tickets started at around $80.
  9. hope no one mindsBut how do you charge for every parking space if you play at a strip mall? Oh yeah, up your parking from free to $25(!).That sounds like a great incentive to drive all the way out to Glenganistahn to watch a Red Wings home game! And it's made all the more ridiculous by the fact that parking at Suns/D Backs/Rattlers games is usually around $5 (or free if you're willing to walk an extra three blocks). Or if you don't wanna do that, a round trip ticket on lightrail is $2. So basically, they're just upping the cost of a product that nobody wants to see in the first place. Brilliant. Let's look at it this way as well. Living in Tempe, if I wanted to go to a D Backs/Suns/Rattlers game, it'd definitely cost under $20, and could be less than a $10 bill. Ticket: $5-$15 Lightrail: $2 But if I wanted to go to a Yotes/Cardinals game, it's basically a guarantee I'd have to spend AT LEAST $100. Tickets: $20-$50 for the Yotes, $40-$80 for the Cards Parking: $25(!) Cost in fuel to even get to and from Glendale: $20-$40 And I'd have to do all of this sober, because you can't spend $11 on beers all game and try to drive home, so there's potential for a DUI. So in conclusion, D Backs/Suns/Rattlers games: $7-$20 Cardinals/Coyotes games: $100-$10,000 Westgate!
  10. I have an old cupon for buy one get one fries at Tim Horton's I can throw in. It did expire in 2011, but unless they read the fine print, the NHL will probably be none the wiser.
  11. Ahh, I misunderstood then. My mistake. Still a good article, and it totally answered my question on just what the heck that thing was.
  12. WOW. When I drove out to California last month I drove right past that and nearly pulled over to check it out because I couldn't fathom any reason why there were giant crumbling grandstands in the middle of nowhere. It's DEFINITELY spooky, and shows just how shortsighted and careless this state is when it comes to public funding. Thanks for giving me an answer!
  13. That is an AWESOME story. Both of em. That's why Iove this place
  14. Can we just make the whole state of Arizona a parking lot?
  15. This basically sums up all of Maricopa County perfectly.
  16. Not possible. The hypothetical arena is being built by the guys trying to bring the NBA to Seattle. Hockey is always going to be a secondary consideration even with a team at Key Arena. That said a secondary consideration Coyotes in Seattle are better than the no consideration Coyotes in Glendale. No, not really. I'd rather the NHL not be a catspaw for some effort to secure a basketball team. You say that like the NHL hadn't sacrificed its dignity long ago. The NHL still has more shreds than the Arena League. Talk with them. The arena league isn't a "Big 4" league either and is more of a circus sideshow to fill dates at arenas. It's a small step above things like that PASL-Pro. Frankly I'd much rather the NHL be "catspaw" as you call them than continue the charade in Glendale that people who live where it's 110 during the day care about ice hockey. Oh they do. They just don't give a about the Coyotes.
  17. The Suns are terrible yet their games are always pretty packed. If they get better the fans will definitely show up. D Backs games have been pretty packed lately as well. Overall, it could be a lot worse for the Phoenix teams. The teams up in Glendale, on the other hand...
