  1. The Phoenix Coyotes saga ending or L.A. getting an NFL team. What are the odds? I'll take sk8erboi/Nick/MBisordi becoming every woman's dream date over either of those.
  2. Ha. Anyone here who actually thinks this thing is coming close to an end must be really new.
  3. When Chase Field isn't 75% empty, I will. Otherwise, the ushers can get bent. I'm not hurting anybody. And you're going to get ZERO sympathy from me how having to move obstructs the view of the person in the second row for 20 seconds when my season ticket is right on the isle behind the staircase down the third base line. My whole season is obstructed.
  4. So I'm pretty sure I just met Jerry Colangelo at the Diamondbacks game tonight. I REALLY wanted to get his take on the whole Coyotes situation, but considering he was kicking me out of his front row seats while I was holding a 300 level ticket, I doubt he was in the talking mood. He was pretty nice about it though. IE, he didn't have me escorted out of the stadium, so that was cool.
  5. Probably at their first home game. Second home game, I believe.
  6. Phoenix has great PT IMO, but they were stupid enough to put the Coyotes as far away from reasonable PT as they possibly could. It's been said before, but squeezing them into the U.S. Airways Center with bad sightlines would've still been better than moving them to that spacious covered parking lot in Afghanistan. It would be comparable to moving the Golden State Warriors to Lodi or Stockton. Or Gilroy (If you want to get nit picky about location).
  7. Actually most of BART is above ground, except for that very important stretch which goes under the San Francisco Bay connecting the city to east bay, but even that sits on top of the soil. The trains are pretty similar to the CTA trains in Chicago. My main point was that, unlike anything you see in Los Angeles and other major west coast cities, it's a very efficient PT system that stretches very far and nearly renders cars useless in the area.
  8. What staff and security? Unless things are different in Philadelphia than any other major city I've been to, there's little-to-no security for downtown parking lots (and those with security are either with always-private lots or individual companies hiring security for public lots that are owned by someone else), and many lot attendants are being replaced with a pay-box, and Muhammed Jones comes by every half-hour or hour to check up on these lots. Well the valet garages in center city (commercial and residential) have "security", and the other lots at least have attendants. When I said staff and security, I was referring to the team-run stadium lots, where there are the fee collectors, the people directing you down a certain aisle, and security walking around (you may not actually see the security, because in some cases it's plain clothed. Typical East Coast US parking in a "downtown" region are significantly higher than that. That's not meant to start a "contest", just to make it clear that I'm talking about daily rates that equal the typical $20 - $40 stadium parking rates (obviously there are pro stadiums / arenas that charge more than that, but I'm considering that the average sporting event price.) Hell - the unsecured residential spot that I lease 3 blocks from my apartment is $200, and that's not a desirable spot. It wouldn't shock me if due to lack of vacancies at that lot (which is the cheapest in the "center city" district), I could put it up on craigslist and sublet it during the day and just use it at night. I know a few people that do this with their spots, for which they either bought the deed for the spot ($40k - $80k depending on location) or lease for $300 - $400 month. San Francisco says hello, as well. But like those east coast cities, they have pretty awesome PT to help that problem. I often wonder, why do people even bother with having cars who live in cities like that?
  9. Nah, just resurrect the 1995 logo. Agreed the wolf was cool If that's the case, just use the current coyote logo. They're both dogs, right?
  10. Cool! Hopefully he was a local. A few hundred thousand more of those and the NHL will be even with the residents of Glendale.
  11. You must've not seen the PSU/Iowa game when I was a freshman at Penn State in 2004.Iowa 6, Penn State 4. No joke. Yeah, but you walked across campus to attend that game. I drove all night from Atlanta to Memphis to watch that joke of a game. Can I join the club? I flew from Toronto to San Juan to watch Toronto FC draw 0-0 with the Puerto Rico Islanders meaning we were knocked out of the Champions League. That was lame. My son's first NHL game a couple of years ago was a 1-0 OT loss. No goal celebrations, nothing really to cheer about. Eventually, the puck that he probably couldn't see went into our net on the far side of the arena and everyone just got up and left. That reminds me of the very first baseball game I ever went to as a kid. It was the day McGwire was traded to St. Louis. It was the Orioles (who were bad), vs the A's (who were REALLY bad). The game ended 1-0 with Oakland either walking in the game winning run or committing an error to give the win to the O's late in the game. And somehow, baseball is still my favorite sport.
  12. Haha no. It's Blue Jackets vs Coyotes. I think a day spent at the DMV updating an overdue registration would be more fun.
  13. I was walking home from class today and saw a booth they had set up selling Coyotes season ticket packages (lol). I stopped to check it out, not because of the absolute absurdity of a team trying to sell season ticket packages for a locked out league on campus, but because there was a guy who was arguing pretty loudly with one of the salesman. The salesman brought up some point about selling tickets in hope that the league will still have games, and the guy replied, I s**t you not, OITGDNHL.
  14. Ok, so I remember the ACC upping their exit fee from $10 million to $20 million, but where did this $50 million come from?
  15. Well, at least ASU will have a new tuneup game vs a D1 school that's just down the road... Wait... Do they even have a football team? This whole thing is just shenanigans. Not only that, but I just read this on another board Yikes.
  16. If (lol) you don't care about (LOL) the law and want jerseys (lol) cheap, then you must (Lol) also see nothing wrong with (lol) stealing a jersey, right? Lol. I've never understood this argument. Sure purchasing counterfeit jerseys is illegal, but it's not the purchaser who is committing IP theft. When you physically steal something, there's no excuse. Personally, I feel that putting the blame on the consumer is a bit unfair, because the average consumer has no idea it's illegal. If they really want to stop IP theft, going against an ignorant consumer isn't going to do it. Going harder after the provider, and even the shipping companies, seems like a better idea. But How do you do that without violating privacy and international trade laws(not to mention the logistics of it as well)? That really only leaves the major sports leagues to blame. When the option to purchase an item for 1/5 the price of a real one when most people aren't knowledgeable enough to realize the quality difference or the possibility of illegality of the purchase you really can't win selling jerseys for hundreds of dollars. It doesn't make it right, but the major sports leagues and apparel manufacturers definitely brought this one upon themselves. And I for one don't feel bad about that at all.
  17. Who they later traded to the Giants along with Jon Vander Wal for Armando Rios, during a series they had against the Giants in San Francisco. In fact, the very next day the Giants beat the Pirates on a walkoff error by Rios.
  18. I would assume, at least for the first year (if it were to start this upcoming season), that they would just give each team on Penn State's schedule a de facto win and reassess what they're going to do next season. It may seem a bit rash to just award a win to each team (that could turn out to be problematic if each B1G team doesn't play every other B1G team at least once, but that could be adjusted if they don't), but despite the atrocities committed by Penn State, the NCAA can't just cripple an entire conference and take away their championship game because of one team's wrongdoings. Might not be a perfect solution, but I can't think of anything else that would really be feasible. Really, sliding Notre Dame into that spot would be perfect, if they didn't have a set schedule already. It'd be great if they could just take over Penn State's schedule, but it wouldn't work.
  19. I'd say that Cal Ripken Jr. looked most appropriate in a Rays uniform. I've seen a few pictures of him in an Orioles uniform and it's just weird.
  20. That sounds like a very NHL move to me. Let's not bother moving a team that loses tens of millions of dollars every year, because we're gonna ALL lose hundreds of millions of dollars this year!
  21. Except that unlike communism, nobody ever considered Bettman's attempt to keep the team in Arizona a good idea.
