The font is off. The front numbers for the Cardinals and Orioles are not just smaller versions of the back number. The aspect ratio is different...or at least it was different.

Not sure if Nike’s going to create front number fonts for teams that have them for replica jerseys

  2. Maybe nothing:

All Broncos Nike game jerseys on Fanatics have been reduced by 30-40%; the Seahawks and Titans jerseys are still full price, as are Texans and Lions (to be expected for the playoffs).

Edit: apparently only men’s and kids’ sizes have been reduced for Denver? After more inspection, this could be an inventory issue (and it looks like a blank jersey liquidation, which seems to mean new design is on the way). For men, all orange jerseys are unavailable in size large, and all navy jerseys are only available for 3XL…which pretty much means every jersey sold these days is numbered after the purchase.

Does Mahomes have a logo? That tweet makes me think UA is going to give Texas Tech Mahomes-branded uniforms like the Curry-branded uniforms they make for Davidson.

If Texas Tech is switching to adidas then I think any new UA jerseys are out of the picture.

  4. Weird to see three new alternate jerseys all have circle crests (Ducks/Lightning/Sharks).  Seems like that's the new trending theme.

Also...I realize alt NHL jerseys were introduced in Jan '96 (IIRC), but it sure seems weird to wait a half a season and then say "Oh yeah...by the way...here's our new jersey for a few games this year".

IDK if this is a result of Photoshopping numbers onto imaginary jerseys, but the front numbers are wrong. What we're seeing here are just smaller copies of the 8" back numbers. Neither the Mets nor the Cardinals were wearing such front numbers as of last year.

Are you saying the font is off or the numbers weren't there last year?

Keep in mind these are still replica jerseys (and as you noted, photoshopped).

The Seahawks Sportslogos.net article has an interest comments section.

The weirdest part is him saying Nike has been working on this new logo for the Broncos for five years.  Not sure how a digital printer in Ohio would know that information...and not sure how that length of time would be possible with the Broncos' ownership change, especially with the surveys only going out in 2022. It's possible but not likely.  If Nike designers are telling third-party digital printers (who aren't stakeholders in Nike) that a new design is in the works five years in advance, then it seems like a weird situation for the designers.

The NDA stuff...meh...Jesse isn't disclosing anything proprietary. Reddit posters think NDAs force people to not talk about it at all, and that's not 100% true, so the comments on Reddit about this are hilariously off base (if anyone happens to read them).

Does anyone know if the one sheets/logo slicks are actually sent out in January by the NFL?

Plenty of religious groups/leaders have changed their stance on LGBTQ+ issues over the years, and I’m sure that there are more religious players who wore the jerseys than didn’t. There can be value in religious beliefs, but more often than not they get corrupted in order to justify ignorance.

And you’ve completely missed the point of the pride celebrations. It has nothing to do with “what people do in the bedroom”, it’s about acknowledging a group that’s historically been vilified by western society & generally unwelcome within the world of men’s sports. Kids don’t view it as a sexual thing in the same way that they don’t view straight couples as sexual things. It’s conservative adults who seem to keep projecting sexuality onto the whole debate.

Maybe unpopular opinion - I like the softer purple for the Lakers just because IMO it gives more of a southern California golden hour/sunset vibe, or at least how I think of it. The pre-1999 purple is actually my preference.

Oh no, we really need to be going out of our way to protect the fragile masculinity of a handful of bigots who don’t like being told to respect people.

I’ve used this example before, but what do you think would happen if an MLB player refused to wear 42 on Jackie Robinson Day? Do you think the commissioner would just scrap players wearing the number altogether?

Major League Baseball gave the option to players to wear BLM patches in 2020...and luckily, those who didn't weren't lambasted for being a raging bigot and racist (or maybe they were but that animosity didn't really last very long). Players weren't coerced to wear one. They don't wear them anymore but I don't think it's because the league is losing out to the right-wing fringe.

Not every NFL player who changed their rear bumper decal from "Black Lives Matter" in 2020 to "Inspire Change" or whatever in the following years is suddenly against the idea that Black Lives Matter.

The Jackie Robinson celebration is a bit different because those jersey are worn during actual games...players get paid during actual games. The celebration was likely approved through collective bargaining, just like ads were approved by MLBPA.  I would bet not everyone wears a 42 shirt or jersey during BP every April 15th, nor do I think anyone is forced to wear something during BP. And the tribute to Jackie is a bit different because Jackie didn't require everyone to accept or champion him. I don't think Jackie ever required MLB to celebrate him after he retired.

Tangentially, I don't think the NFL should have salute to service month...and I really don't care for most of the military tributes on uniforms or the redesigned logos...and it's not because I hate the military. I just think it's played out.  Nobody's going to think less or more of the military no matter what the NFL or a college football team wears.  I couldn't give two :censored:s if hockey players didn't wear military warm up jerseys in the NHL. I think it's silly they're included in EA's NHL game.

I would, however, be really creeped out if NHL reporters said a player should be banned, arrested, and/or deported if a player didn't participate in a military appreciation warm up night.

Well I hate to break it to you, but that’s how the world works. If you’re asking people to donate $500 to a charity, or you’re asking them to spend $500 on a jersey with the proceeds going to charity, what do you think is more likely to get people to open their wallets?

    Keep thinking that one over.

And I hate to break it to you, but some people don’t like being coerced into doing stuff. That’s just how the world works.

Several teams didn’t wear Pride jerseys last year…including one of Canada’s biggest teams (if not the biggest)…and actually even your Senators didn’t wear warm up jerseys…and the world carried on just fine and everyone forgot about it a week later.

Every team held a Pride night with hundreds of Pride-themed celebrations and events and other Pride collectibles. Those aren’t going away…you have to incredibly neurotic to see a list like that and claim “the league is losing to the homophobes”

And there is zero percent chance that the charities are able to bring in the same money without having signed jerseys to auction off.

“I want to support the charities, but what’s in it for me?” is always a weird argument from “altruistic” people.

i swear, nobody hates the nhl more than the people who run it.

They’ll still have the theme nights. Warm up jerseys were always a ridiculous idea in hindsight, especially if the league’s most prominent reporters were advocating players be banned, arrested, and deported for not wearing the warm up jersey. Seinfeld’s “Who’s not wearing the ribbon?” episode was spot on in this case.

Fans will just have to donate to charities without expecting something in return.

The stripes on the gold pants match the helmet.

The stripes on the purple pants should be purple-white-purple

The stripes on the white pants match the jersey, so maybe they will wear a white helmet with it with matching stripes.

There is a lot of unanswered questions with only releasing these 4 images and only 1 helmet shown.

My distaste of the pants stripes has more to do with them being thick at the top and really thin at the bottom. The tapered look doesn’t match the helmet stripes.

You missed a fad that they chased. The facemask changed from black to chrome.

Contrast this with changes made by most other teams, and it's a lot in terms of number of changes. This gets at the 'year after year' statement, which I agree with.

To be fair it’s more silver than shiny chrome, to match the shell. Falcons and Cardinals also introduced silver masks after the Lions. The Rams should have done a metallic mask instead of regular blue.

I like that the numbers don't overlap the sleeve stripes anymore. Still don't like the nameplates but at this point they've made it their gimmick so whatever.

The Ducks just posted this, giving us a look at their 30th Anniversary patch on the home jersey and pretty much confirming no major changes this year, unless there's some sort of throwback or other anniversary jersey planned. Oh and there's an ad now too. Yay.

Still amazes me the Samuelis stuck with those jerseys for another year, and probably no changes after the adidas deal expires. The look has some local brand equity as practice rinks have a derivative version of it…but it’s just so early 2010s and everyone wants 90s lol

Also, this feels like what the Saints did last year:  replaced their perfectly acceptable normal helmet worn with their alt uniform with something worse.

I don’t think anyone liked the silver helmet with the gray jersey, which is opposite of the Saints’ pre-2022 quasi-throwback look.

I mentioned a page or so back that its been mentioned here in Detroit that this helmet was designed with next year’s rebrand in mind.

    Let the wreckless speculation begin.

The blue helmet will probably return next but without the historical logo (probably regular logo instead).

Colorado State unveiled some new (long overdue?) uniforms. A bit more of a classic take; only gold pants, no gray alternates in sight, striping on the pants and sleeves. Not bad, it looks good in green and gold.

Can't help but think that their rivals down in Boulder might feel a little ripped off though:

It looks like CSU redesigned the horns a bit…they’ve always been a tad different than classic LA Rams, but the horns seem to be very different in these pics.

From 2014-2019 that was what they did and it was a great way to still keep the wonderful assortment of looks while also connecting to the city they were playing in. Some were better than others, but I enjoyed that era of ASG looks (I'm still punching myself for not getting the panel front Twins hat from 2014)

Didn’t the Miami ASG only have orange and blue hats with that bubbly looking material? Maybe I’m misremembering.

    Update:

There was this set...which I don't think was really ever worn, which was in blue and orange:

NWT St Louis Cardinals Home Run Derby 2017 MLB All Star Game Snapback Hat Cap | eBay

But the 2017 ASG (which I think were the actual game hats) also had team color hats in this pattern, which were pretty nice though seemed to be better suited for the LA game than the Miami game:

Chris Creamer on Twitter: "2017 MLB All-Star Game caps will be in individual team colours with all logos and patches now in gold More: https://t.co/FIxKFRib4h https://t.co/2HJmCz7smy" / Twitter

The Lions already stated the helmet is going to be worn with the gray color rush uniforms. It is for sure going to be a blue helmet with silver stripes to match the car in the picture.

Yeah the blue car with silver stripes wasn’t just by chance.
