  1. New "Coal and Steel" special edition kits for 🇩🇪 Borussia Dortmund, which they'll wear Sunday. Black kit with a charcoal pattern, and names and numbers on back have a metallic grey "steel look" with a map of Dortmund incorporated. Other appliques (crest, sponsor logos, etc.) are black with a glossy finish.

You know I think so far, ALMOST every single kit has been a hit. There has not been an over abundance of all black or all white or just lazy designs. They all have a pretty nice look and are creative to what we’ve seen. I know there’s still teams to reveal tomorrow but they’re all so far winners for the most part in my book.

Only miss for me is Austin. And that's not even necessarily about the different striping patterns. It's more about the white Adidas shoulder stripes and side/hem stripes that throw it off kilter for me.

I love it. That’s a definite buy for me.

The more I look at it, the more I'm reminded of Japan's away kit from the World Cup. Same sort of colour scheme and geometric patterns, if not the offset colours. Yeah, it's really growing on me.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there are a lot of kits announced tomorrow morning. Atlanta is doing a launch party at their exhibition cup game against Toluca tomorrow night, but have also said you can buy them at the team store as early as 11 AM tomorrow. Sounds like they’ll be revealed first thing in the morning.

By my count, there are at least nine kits being revealed tomorrow. That's how many had posted reveal dates as of the last time I went through MLS Twitter accounts earlier this morning.

    1.  Atlanta United
    2. Austin FC
    3. Charlotte FC
    4. FC Cincinnati
    5. Colorado Rapids
    6. Columbus Crew SC
    7. Houston Dynamo SC
    8. New York City FC
    9. Seattle Sounders FC
    10. New England Revolution

    EDIT: Make that 10.

  5. A few more that popped up in the last little while:

🇩🇪 RB Leipzig special edition kit — inspired by a "Leipzig on Fire" stadium chant to the tune of "Freed From Desire" by GALA — 30 Euros from each shirt sold will go to charities helping people affected by earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria:

🇫🇷 Lille OSC fourth kit — inspired by textile industry in Northern France:

    🇩🇪 VfL Wolfsburg third kit:

    🇮🇹 US Salernitana 1919 Valentine's Day kit:

Jordan definitely gets more passes than LeBron for misteps on and off the court. Having grown up with Jordan as the most popular athlete in the country (world?), there was a mystique that could simply not be matched under any imaginable circumstance.

I think the lack of social media and a 24-7 news cycle during Jordan's era plays into that. Had we all had cellphones with video cameras and unchecked platforms on which to post the videos we took with them in the 90s, there would probably be as many videos of Jordan behaving badly at casinos or nightclubs as we do of LeBron at, as  @Sport mentioned, his sons' AAU games. Jordan wouldn't have gotten as many passes as he did and wouldn't have been able to build a mystique because the evidence would have been front and center, played ad nauseum on cable news and dissected by their commentators and analysts.

  7. As I was looking at the first one, I thought to myself, "This could use one of the other shades of blue as well." Then I scrolled down and my wishes were instantly granted. 😁

These are both a tad jarring because the Kraken don't use more white than absolutely necessary in their branding, and both of these feel very white-forward. But I'm not against it. The dark blue stripes on the arms could be so the numbers don't come right to the edges of them. But yeah, all in all, a solid concept that bends the rules of the Kraken's branding but doesn't break them.

Someone on reddit hypothesized a hologram crest that changes from the standard logo to this new dragon logo, which would obviously be incredible.

Oh yeah, AS Roma did a similar thing on their third kits this year. But it was only on the replica retail versions, and not on the match-worn authentics.

  9. Merging this with the Arena Football thread in Sports in General. If the league releases a logo (which, from what I can see, they have not) or any teams release new logos, then you can start a thread in Sports Logos News. But if all we have now is talk about gameplay and organization, let's keep that to SiG.

I haven’t found a great pic, but apparently the fabric layer beneath the adidas stripes has one stripe in green, one in white, and one red.

Here's the best pic I could find of this:

It's hard to make out the green against the blue shirt, but you can see it in this one closer to the collar.
