And he plays for the Reds. Seriously.
It would have been funnier if he was with the Yankees.

It had just occurred to me that there is a minor league player named.... FIdel Castro

The only reason the Warriors could afford Durant is the salary cap SIGNIFICANTLY increased from $70m to $94m in 2016 when the TV deal kicked in.
KD could have played elsewhere, even stay in OKC for more money, but decided to play for the Warriors. If you want to blame anyone, it is Durant.
Besides, the Warriors were not the champions when they signed Durant. They probably needed him to get the next two and probably would have had a three peat if Durant was healthy (selfishly as a Raptors guy, I was relieved he wasn't) .

Saint-Etienne were relegated after a two-leg playoff with Auxerre.
Fans were not pleased...

Imagine being a Notts County supporter having to watch non-League games while Premier League games are being played across the river

My only complaint with TNT's coverage this season/playoffs is Don Koharski. Get him off my screen. He lacks any sort of public speaking skills and he is consistently wrong about every call they ask him about.
Jim Schoenfeld would agree.

I didn't think the Reds had it in them to score 20 runs.... in ONE GAME.

True, but, find a US city that has done more to build out its public transit system in the past 10 years than LA. Better late than never.
I'd place a bet on a Union Station-Dodger Stadium gondola waaaay before one on a downtown LA Angels stadium.
When I went to LA for a weekend about three years ago, I was actually surprised how extensive the Metro subway/light rail system is. I stayed downtown and I took the metro to Hollywood, Santa Monica and USC.
What it lacks though, is a proper stop at the airport. Yes there is one nearby LAX, but I think you still have to take a shuttle there. Maybe that is asking too much.

It will be interesting to see how Calgary plays out. Winnipeg has the Jets and Moose (same venue) and WHL Ice, while Toronto has Maple Leafs and Marlies (seperate venues) and multiple nearby OHL teams. I know Canadians love their hockey but do they love it this much?
Also, the Montreal area has the Canadiens, Laval Rocket and if you want to stretch out, the Armada.

The Avs are a very weird case for me this year: I think I got so used to them in the black helmets and shorts that blue looks terribly weird to me, even though I’ll fully admit the black was, in theory, the more mismatched color. I think I’d have rather them worn burgundy helmets and shorts instead, something darker like that may have looked closer to “right” in my head.
I guess it comes down to this: they waited far too long to get rid of the black and should’ve made that change years ago (that, or redesigned the uniforms altogether this go-around). The black got to be too “normal” over the course of time and now my brain can’t calibrate when I see the blue helmets and shorts.
The black helmets and shorts were OK in the early years. I think it made the jersey stand out more (At least black is one of their colours) But it got lost when the "edge" template came around.
The current home/burgundy/blue shorts set up is great now, but they need to work on the roads.

I guess the criterion on "retiring" numbers depends on the franchise.
I actually appreciate that the Orioles do not have that many and considering the people whose numbers that the Orioles retired, I just don't see Mussina being in that mix. A type of criticism that Onley describe can be valid, just not in Mussina's case.

You have to be some sort of scammy lying git to steal from the Yankees.... financial issues or not.To be fair, the Yankees have, so far, allowed the fewest stolen bases per game

This is a temporary arrangement though. It's a 3 year lease, with an option for a 4th if they need extra runway to finish a new rink in Tempe. If they can't sort out the new building they'll be gone in 3 years.
Yeah, they have had these issues since George W Bush's first term... so yeah, might as well give it another 3 years

I am guessing missing out on some revenue doesn't mean much for some of the owners. What's a couple of million to them especially in the big markets? They must take great pleasure of not having to pay the players as much as they probably would have if there was no cap.
