I said “just about any other fanbase.” Of course Cleveland and Detroit have had it worse than Cincinnati—I even had something to say on that but I felt it detracted too much from the congrats to Cincinnati (and also Rams) fans.

Washington and the Jets, at least past 2005 or so, can just about make as good a case as the Bengals IIRC. However, nothing’s going to top losing a team for 3 seasons combined with getting an inferior replacement (Cleveland)—or the overall stench of ineptitude that’s permeated the organization since athletic antiquity (Detroit).  Off the top of my head, I don’t think there’s been more than 2, maybe 3, playoff wins between the Browns (v1.0 or 2.0) and the Lions in the last 30 years, unless I’m missing something.

Heck, if I am not mistaken, the Lions have one playoff win since their last NFL championship...

If they set up brackets based on where you qualified for the World Cup I could see them get a great draw. I'm pretty sure they'll end up in a group of death because of previous campaigns.

That was my exact thought . Yes, top the qualifying round.... but end up being the same group as Brazil and Portugal or Italy. 😅

Brian Kelly is the gift that keeps on giving. Debased himself just to lose out on recruiting the kid in the video with him.

I kinda joked somewhere that the video is really an Alabama recruit video.

  4. At this point, I would consider having the match abandoned.

Great night for an outdoor soccer game.

All this just to avoid an extra hour on your flights and letting any brown people into the stadium.

Just to be clear, it's Hispanics to be specific.

I mean I don't know about the Arab or South Asian populations in that state, but somehow, I know there is significant Filipino population in Winnipeg.

What's funny is that the pedestal uniforms actually had a more appropriate colour balance. They had black, yes, but it the fourth most prominent colour after red, gold, and white.

My guess is that the pedestal striping just wasn't popular, and the black alternate was (it was the height of BFBS) so they ran with that and made a white version.

Then they decided to go back to a red primary look but they wanted to keep the striping. The chevron stripes meant that white or gold as the main secondary colour would be "too much," so they opted for black.

And once you've committed to large black stripes on red you might as well go with a flaming black C and numbers?

That's the progression of ideas that makes sense to me anyway.

The black C was always weird though. Not only because of the "it looked charred" observations, but it just flew in the face of the franchise's history. They had worn a white C for twenty years prior to abandoning it, and a white A for six years prior to that.

Like...if the Canadiens rolled out a new red sweater with a blue C we'd all be going "what the :censored:?" It just flies in the face of the team's established visual identity.

I was alluding to the 'C' on those pedestal uniforms. To me, it brought out 'C' more than the current/classics, both red and white.  To me, that was the one redeeming aspect of the pedestal uniforms

  6. I am not going through all the posts about the Flames. I will just say, I do not mind that the Flames have black in their color scheme.  Maybe I would have added some black trim to their current/classic red uniform, but really what they have now is great.

What bothered me about the 00's reds was just simply using black for the flaming 'C' and the numbers. I feel they should have been white, especially the flaming 'C'.  (Then again, I had always preferred that the Los Angeles Chargers have a white bolt instead of yellow ... that  is different discussion 😁)

What more do you have to see, Brian McBride? Berhalter is not the answer at manager unless your plan is to get bounced in the group stage at the World Cup. The US has no plan, no thought in the final third aside from letting their players try to make a play 1v4. It’s absurd. Canada was without Davies too and you can’t manage a single goal?

Starting Zardes against the group’s top team on the road should be a felony. Every match the USMNT will be out coached and has been out coached, despite having the easily the most talented pool in the region.

This confounds me.  Sure, the pitch was an issue, but Canada was able to find two goals. If anything, the US should have been better prepared for this match than Canada partly because Canada just came from the heat in Honduras and they now have to fly back into the heat in El Salvador.

Before the game, a thought came to me that said, what if Canada just simply has that one or two players that can just finish... but, who does the US have?

As it stands, Jamaica is leading Panama, If that result holds, considering Panama's next game is against Mexico,  Canada, could possibly qualify in THIS window.
