  1. I had an itch I couldn't scratch for some logos I wanted to see, good thing i'm a logo designer.

If you didn't know, both South Florida and Central Florida had much more unique  team names before their current Bulls and Knights names, respectively. USF was the Goldan Brahmans, which is a type of cattle that looks like it has a goiter. The name is unique, even if Bulls is much more recognizable.

So with this, I traced a Brahman for a front profile looking mascot. Then, added a palm tree and sunset in the negative space created by the lack of features on the front of a bull. To be honest this looks like a normal bull too, so I would just remove the bump at the top to transform the breed.

The case with UCF is a little bit more known. A citronaut, to the best of my understanding, is a citrus shaped astronaut? Some sort of freak that i'm sure a student drew for meal vouchers. Every couple years they bring out the logo for their football team and everyone says go back to it. Well, what if they did and made it look more detailed? There's not a hidden message like the other, besides the star symbol being pulled directly from their university crest.

Would love to hear your thoughts! Just kind of a fun idea I had. It's not the last one I want to do in this series. Look forward for another mid-sized Florida school that drifted away from god's light and changed to a much more boring name.

  2. I don't think it's a hot take to say the Ravens have busy numbers on otherwise a simple uniform. Obvious gripes with the black pants and black socks, but for the most part they've been the same since their inception.

I was inspired last year with an idea to shift more towards a dark and moody Ravens brand, inspired by the social media graphics from recent years. The numbers are germanic in nature but feature a small gradient where numbers overlap. The striping pattern is inspired by the state flag of Maryland.

Why doesn't the Football Team use Yellow or a similar shade for their third?

If they were Washington Football Team still, i'd have gone yellow. But being all fake patriotic kind of tipped the scales towards a military alternate.

I'm sure if you looked you could find 100 yellow alternates for them on this board

Love the main two sets, though  I think a white set of pants would also be cool.  Not sure about the alt greys, seems unnecesary, but I am a guy who finds it annoying for teams to have uniforms that do not use team colors (The Oregon Effect, though it is fine for soccer since that is the historical tendency).  The shoulder treatment is great, though I might recommend that the white jersey have white sleevecaps, because that extra maroon stripe seems unneeded.

Thanks for the comments! I actually had those thoughts while building this.

My original plan was to have the pants be yellow, white, and maroon going left to right (with the implication to mix and match), but didn't like how it looked with the grey set. Think of that as their color rush uniform. I think the maroon pants are implied lmao. As for the sleeve caps, I originally thought that too but the white jersey sleeves would mimic the DC flag one for one and that ruled out in my mind.

I like the subtle use of the flag in the sleeves. Not a fan of the black alternate, but that's just because I think black alternates need to die for most teams. It works for the color scheme you have here, but I feel like Arizona could do better

that one kind of felt like a layup. I think the Cards have black in their brand enough to pull it off without being BFBS, unlike a team like the Vikings would. Kind of reminded me of those black 49ers alts a few years ago. This is one of the few concepts i've done for an Arizona without turquoise. That may be fun to try, but in terms of a main color black was the best option IMO.

  6. Quick little update to the Cardinals concept. I ended up fixing the collar striping to match the cuffs, and I noticed an inconsistency with the white pants striping. Also added decals to the helmet, something I noticed was missing when I did.....

The Commanders are weird. I love their helmet but think the rest of the uniform leaves a lot to be desired. I understand they want to distance themselves from the old brand, but I think they could do that with the color combination they were using. I don't think this is ground breaking but using the DC flag stripe could have been such a small win on the side panels.

The color rush uniform may be my favorite, weirdly enough. Them having a black alternate stinks. I was thinking yellow like Minnesota uses, or maybe a grey. But the grey I started with felt flat and clashed with the colors. I was struggling to fix it, and decided to go with a more sandy-grey to lean into the warmer colors the Commies use.

  7. The cardinals have the worst uniforms in the NFL, one of the relics of the mid-2000s that refuses to die. I'm a big fan in the minor modern updates for uniforms like Minnesota, Cincinnati, and the Chargers have done. So that was my thinking for making the Cardinals have a simple refresh while trying to push the brand forward.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

  8. I can understand why people don't like the set, but I really don't mind the Falcons look. The throwbacks are clean, but these feel like a decent modern take on a football uniform. The falcons seem to picture themselves as fierce and fast and I think these match the logo better than the previous version did or the throwbacks would. Hell my biggest gripe is the drop shadow on the numbers.

  9. The Archers some how bottling this while having the best offense in the league is quite something. The Cannons defense absolutely sucks and leaves their goalie to save so many open shots. I hope Lyle can get some stability there because it's a one man show.

Oh, and to avoid going 9 straight loses they play the number 1 team Whipsnakes, the team that just lead the Atlas 12-1 at half.

  10. The mesh jerseys looked good as a whole but the replicas they sold on the shop was a rare miss. They were replicas and didnt have holes! I get why they did it but i'm gonna be bummed if we lose the soccer-style jerseys when Champion gets a hold of the jerseys more than just replicating what Adidas did.

  11. These look good so far, I would say that you're missing one step in the rebrand process however. I've kind of worked on a theory of rebrands where teams go two steps away from the lovable original logos. The Buffalo Sabres are an example for hockey, but here's sort of what I mean.

I think the Jets could use a middle rebrand with a modern fighter jet that everyone hated and bought the throwback logo merch for. The Nordiques have the husky logo which would work, but I think the igloo logo would at least have a minor facelift to modernize it like the Bruins did.

That aside, I think you've nailed the aesthetics for the eras represented !

A tarped off field won't look as bad as this if they're getting 25,000 to 30,000 a game.

Not the point, but I believe this was a closed door scrimmage game being played at Legion Field instead of Protective Field. Attendance sucked but these specific pics would get a pass.
