if only the Nuggets hadn't changed their unis in 2015, I'd be a happy fan right now
They had already tweaked the powder blue look to death by 2015.

The NBA needs to push all the fans back away from the court, especially the owners. The way the NBA lets its owners think they are larger than the teams is insane. When the Warriors won the championship and they started with 15 minutes of the owners holding the trophy and talking about how much they sacrificed to win this before Steph and Klay even touched the trophy, that was infuriating.

A ridiculous FOUR DAYS OFF between Nuggets/Suns games 2 and 3. For no reason either. The Avalanche are eliminated and the Suns don't share an arena with anyone.
It makes no sense at all because even if the Avs were still going the schedule would still have worked without the days off. The Heat/Knicks have the same thing going on too, so the only thing I can think of is that they wanted a stand-alone weeknight for the Lakers/Warriors and Celtics/76ers. To try to boost ratings?

It ain't over yet.
If this continues, we may be looking at a Seattle/Vegas West Final.
A SEA/VGK and FLA/CAR final four is not what anyone wants, but it's what we deserve.

There's an orchestral feel to it. The high-five is understandable. Very cool, thanks for sharing.
Don't listen to @infrared41, he is clearly an industry plant trying to cover up the fact that the NHL is RIGGED!

Not sure why anyone would would ever put a team near Macon, it’s a godforsaken place. Dated a girl who lived there for a couple months, lovely girl but not worth the trouble of going to Macon.
That NE corner of the metro area, specifically Alpharetta, is where the money is.

Atlanta is a big sprawling market. Forsyth is pretty much Macon. However that area of Georgia has grown. From the 2020 census (compared to 2010), Atlantas population is up 18.7%. Forsyth is up 15.7%. Nearby, Warner Robbins is up 20.6%, Perry is up 49% and Macon is up 72.2%.
Atlanta/Macon is simmilar to what is happening in Cincinnati/Dayton. The population between them have grown to the point that the markets are starting to merge together. Here in Ohio, the Mason and West Chester areas are viewed as both suburbs of Cincinnati and Dayton. I imagine the same thing is happening between Atlanta, and Macon.
This arena project is for Forsyth County, not the city near Macon. Forsyth County is NE of Atlanta right next to Lake Lanier. -

While the fanbase topic may have been part of the issue, look up Atlanta Spirit LLC (now coincidentally known as Atlanta Hawks LLC) as an ownership group and you'll see another issue why the Thrashers failed.
Oh, I’m fully aware that there were hundreds of reasons why the Thrashers failed, including the ownership group’s self-sabotage.
My point was, if the NHL goes back and puts the arena in Forsyth they are completely ignoring all those other reasons for the Thrashers failure and unfairly putting all the blame on demographics.

ATL is the busiest airport in the US, so I think there's an argument that, like Chicago, it's a regional hub that's easy to get to for a lot of people.
But I guess I'd also need to know how many events the existing Atlanta NBA/NHL arena is turning away now, an also how many of those events aren't suitable for the Georgia Tech arena it or whatever facility may exist at Emory or other places in the city.
Atlanta's big as hell, so I'm assuming there are plenty of places to host whatever event whenever.
Not a local and only lived there for just under 4 years. so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Ga. Tech and Emory are not hosting any concerts or events outside of official school-sponsored stuff. There were a lot of reasons given for the location of the Battery, but the biggest one was so that the wealthy people in the burbs didn't have to deal with the downtown "scene" anymore. The Atlanta Metro area is massive and the northern suburbs are so determined to not have anything to do with the actual city that I definitely think they could make this arena work. I'm sure Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, and the like would much rather use this new venue than the NBA arena downtown.Them throwing an NHL team in Forsyth would be the league absolutely stating that the reason the Thrashers failed was that they were too far away from rich white people to succeed.

In Forsyth? That's still technically the metro area, but it might as well be in Tennessee.
Having just moved away from Atlanta, it is astonishing how contentious the dynamic between the suburbs and the inner city is and the suburbs just keep one-upping themselves. -
These are all top-notch, as always. My only critique is that most of the cap logos would benefit greatly from losing the drop shadows and outlines. With cap logos, less is always more.

Dan Hurley might be the most random coach to win a national title since Jim Harrick

He does come from a pretty strong pedigree. His brother is the Arizona State coach and one of the best college point guards ever, and his dad was a coach as well. His dad is in the basketball hall of fame and is one of the greatest high school basketball coaches ever. The Hurleys are synonymous with basketball, calling him a "random coach" is insane.

It seems like revisionist history to say that Mutombo embraced Denver so much more in his time with the Nuggets than Melo did.
Up until his tumor last year, Mutumbo was still heavily involved in Denver charities and would appear at events regularly. I'm in my early 30's by the way.
Melo is certainly an influential piece in the history of the Nuggets, I am not disputing that. I'm just saying his number does not need to be retired.

There is really no argument that Mutombo and Lever are that much better of Nuggets than Melo was.
Melo was absolutely a better player than both of those guys, but he wasn't a better Nugget. Melo never embraced Denver and always felt like a rental. Both Mutumbo and Lever meant a great deal to the community. Plus, Lever accomplished just as much as Melo ever did, and Mutumbo was the centerpiece of one of the most memorable moments in the Nuggets' history.
I harbor no ill will towards Melo at all, and I wouldn't be opposed to them retiring his number. But with how he forced his way out, the fact that he doesn't lead the Nuggets in any statistical category, and Jokic taking the number, I don't think it needs to be retired.
-
The Nuggets should not retire Melo's number.

EY has survived much worse scandals than rigging the draft of a sports league most people outside of Canada don't care about. Their reputation is far from spotless.

It goes beyond the "College" moniker.
Generic screenprint numbers. Miniature script. Striping is all over the place. BFBS.
The entire uniform is lazy. Straight trash.
I mean, it is the College of Charleston. That uniform is a straight catalog order because their entire athletic budget is like $5.

That’s not on UA. That’s a long time alternate logo for CofC. They always try to play up “College” whenever they can. They refer to themselves as either The College or College of Charleston, never just Charleston. It’s dumb.- 4

Watching the NIT. Why does Liberty look like they didn't bring the proper jersey, or shorts to their own gym? Navy numbers and sky blue outline on the tops. Navy trim and a white and red logo on the shorts.
That's their normal home uniform. Not sure why, but they've been leaning hard into the sky/light blue lately for the basketball team.

Bill Walton was in top form tonight. It’s both a shame and completely understandable why they only let him call these midnight west coast games that no one watches.

Lol yeah it does. I’d rather have blue pants and the extra color than just a generic, cheap looking all white look that kids’ teams wear because they can’t afford the away pants.
Have you seen youth football uniforms lately? They definitely don't wear all white uniforms.

Yeah, that’s just some graphic design intern for the Peach Bowl throwing together whatever he can find to fulfill the design brief.

It really depends on the team. I'd imagine most on-ice ads are those vinyl wraps and some teams use them for center ice as well. But there is still a chunk of teams painting the ice. Here's a video of the Red Wings from the beginning of this season.
