  1. The Giants will wear their throwback navy helmets with their color rush this week, rather than their normal royal blue helmets with the throwback logo.
  2. The color rush uniform and helmet combo will still be worn this year. Week 3 I believe. And likely with the “current” helmet but re-fitted with throwback decal and white facemask like the past 6 years. By the way, if anyone is counting the Giants will wear 4 different sets of white pants this year - “home” - white with blue-gray-red-gray-blue stripe ”road” - white with red-white-red-white-red northwestern stripe ”color rush” - white with blue-red-blue stripe ”classic - white with blue-red-blue stripe the color rush and classic are very similar but have different colors. The color rush is inspired by the 80s-90s road uniforms but in 2000’s colors. the classic have the actual shades of blue and red from that era.

  4. Not sure if this was mentioned but the Commanders are officially fixing their secondary logo to have the correct championship season years:
  5. Super Bowl XLVI 10th anniversary logo
  6. ^ Eli Manning jersey retirement logo
  7. Logowise its nice. Nice modern update of the original. The colors are more inviting and less aggressive than the old one. the strokes overlap in weird ways but it works for me. There's some technical issues with it .. like for example the navy outer stroke around XFL doesn't extend into the big X... you can see under and above the F there's no navy stroke there.. so that's a little weird. But this could be a placeholder anyway
  8. This is a bad answer, but my guess would be because the changes to the Rangers shield logo aren't THAT significant - to lay, non logo obsessed people anyway. That maybe putting different NYR logos would look sloppy, rather than a nice nod to the time period. Whereas the Knicks logos are different enough that it successfully shows the evolution of the logo and the team identity at the time. Again, not a great answer but that makes sense to me.
  9. I'm surprised they retired his number before Glenn Robinson's #13...I think the Big Dog did a LOT more for the franchise and its culture. More than playing in three All-Star Games (1973, 1975, 1976) and starting at forward for a championship team (1971) and for another team that went to the Finals (1974)? Really? I agree. The championships should matter the most for any franchise. However, as The Starters noticed someone should have checked baskteball reference before printing the banner because his second stint with Bucks was in 81-82. BTW, anybody knows from which season is this uniform? The mothership doesn't have any uniforms with the green script. technically it could just say 1981 because he didnt play in any games in 1982
  10. Sweet Georgia Brown, that font is awful. Steve Carlton never wore a "32" that looked like that.Yeah I have no idea what they were going for there. At the Vet they used something similar to the 80s font (they also had a couple old-timey "P"s retired for players who played before numbers. They have policy of retiring numbers for HOFers (only exception was Ashburn but he eventually got in to HOF). I really wonder if they'll do anything for Rollins since he was here so long and set the team hit record. I hope they don't, but something tells me that they will. Phillies have such a unique and signature number font - why wouldn't they use that?
  11. I think a lot of team make mention of making it to the Final Four ... although idk how many phrase it as National semifinalist
  12. this is very nitpicky but I think ur proportions are a little off on the giants. The word mark should be just a tiny bit bigger-- right now u have about a 1 "underlines" space between it and the bottom of the end zone but it shouldn't be that much. But also the NY logo should be a decent amount smaller
  13. The other thing is -- I really like having the Super Bowl logos at the 25 yard lines. Think about it -- that's where the majority of the action takes place in the game. Think about how often you see a line of scrimage at the 48 yard line .. compared to either of the like 23 or 29 yard lines. Over the course of the game my guess is like 85% of the plays either start or finish with that logo within the frame of the camera - especially because there are TWO of them - whereas only like 15% show the midfield logo. So from a birds eye the field might not look as cool without the Super Bowl logo at midfield, but on tv and in game photos its much more likely to see the SB logo if its on the 25's vs. the 50.
  14. Mentioned this at the time but I actually think making the Endzone's navy blue for both teams was a good idea. For starters... the teams wore white and orange... so the endzone's contrasted both teams as an alternate color ..White/Navy and orange/navy. Also -- while I love the color orange it can be VERY clashy - so if there was an iconic photo of a seahawk catching a game-winning touchdown you didn't really want a 50-50 chance of that photo being on a bright orange background as a seahawks fan. Navy worked for both team's in that instance. I'm not sure why they left the NFC logo navy for the seahawks or why its on the wrong side... maybe it was a style choice because then both conference logos are on the near-side of the TV and the team logos are on the far side. That doesn't explain why its navy though HOWEVER there is precendent because the Giants endzone at Metlife usues the Giants blue for the NFC logo and also the NFL shield at midfleld is in Giants Blue and Red not the NFL colors. Hard to tell. But I still vote for lazyness, with a touch of the weather combined. The NFL got lucky, if that storm had come in 18 hours eariler the game would have looked like it was being played at Mile high rather than New jersey. This is why i believe the field was so bland. Unsure the field would even be visable with a possible storm aproaching. The NFL went with "No Frills" on the field markings. I totally disagree with that.... it doesn't snow that much in northern NJ -- granted last year was a very bad winter but there was no way the league assumed it was going to be snow covered. if anything it would be very cold and maybe flurries but it would have to be perfect timing to get a few inches of snow to fall at that exact time. I dont think last year's field was any more or less bland then it has been for at least 5 years. Its colored endzones, and logos at 25, 50, and 25. The only laziness is keeping the NFL logo at midfield 6 yards wide rather than making a new one 10 yards wide one.. but honestly i think that more smart money than laziness.. its already there. its not that important for it to be larger. Especially when you consider its not paint.. its colored turf -- I'm not entirely sure how the puzzle fits together but ud probably have to make two new strips of turf 5 yards x the wdith of the field to replace the area between the two 45-yard lines. Its not as simple as just painting it like you would with grass. So-- not that the NFL and host committee doesnt have the money but its just not so important to spend the money on. That entire turf including the Jets and Giants endzone was brand new last year... replaced the one from the first 3 years of MetLife Stadium. So no need for a new one for midfield.

  16. The Celtics have 21 numbers retired. If the NBA used college/high school rules (which they dont) where you had to pick 0, 00, 1-15, 20-25, 30-25, 40-45, or 50-55 (41 options), then there would be only 20 numbers available. So if you join a roster that already has 14 out of 15 players on it you only would have a choice of 6 numbers.
  17. Shoes I agree I don't care about, but football Socks are part of the uniform. They take up almost half the leg. So you do have to make sure they work with the pants, whether its contrasting color or same color (leotard as you said), stripes or no stripes. Its part of the uniform. i'd say its the same as the long-sleeve undershirt in baseball. Might seem secondary but you have to make sure everyone wears the same color and they work with the uniform top. (or the socks in baseball for that matter)
  18. I wouldn't say the Atari logo is associated with failure - that company was very successful for a long time, and even if its not anymore I don't think it can be considered a failure by any definition of the word. Sega, i somewhat agree that the Saturn and Dreamcast were failures but not Sega itself.
  19. True story, around 1994 the Storm brought out these uniforms for the second half of a game in which they trailed at home. The crowd went nuts, the helmet was silver from the silver and black uniforms the Storm was wearing at the time. I don't recall another football team changing uniforms at halftime at any level of play. Not football, but one that comes to mind is the Lakers a few years ago had a TBTC night to the Magic-era unis and wore short shorts with them. But they changed into modern long shorts after halftime.
  20. This was the "Nobody Beats the Wiz" logo (rebranded to just The Wiz) when Cablevision bought them over and drove them to banruptcy.. or, saved them and then drove them back. idk exactly what happened. But i know the new logo was awful Classic logo: - now used by PC Richards
  21. Who would you retire? Can't really think of anyone worthy without it seeming like you forced it, unles you wanted to do Bob McAdoo for the Buffalo Braves. You could I guess do Bill Walton but his best years weren't on the Clippers. I think your next best option is Elton Brand whenever he retires, and then Blake Griffin in about 15 years. One other option i guess is Eric Piatkowski for longevity reasons but that'd be a pretty sad choice for first retired number
  22. THIS looks similar, and you could edit it to get it closer... Yeah that's pretty close. The E's are different and I cab edit out the extra diamonds. Close substitute if I cant find the original
  23. Can someone help identify the arabic style font on this business card. My friend wants me to duplicate it for him and he doesn't have the original files. Also, any idea where I could download it for free?
  24. I worked at MSG for 4 years... The Theater is within the arena. The basketball court/ hockey ice is on the fifth floor, and then the seats expand up from that all the way to the top floor which is the sky boxes. The Theater is beneath all that, I believe the stage level is on the first floor and the top row of seats is on the 2nd floor. When you say "floor", you mean seating tier, right? Not like the arena is on it's own floor, like it's an office building and it has stuff above and below it, right? So from what it sounds like, the theater seems to be nestled in behind the first and second levels of seats, where you would normally expect something like a locker room to be? Something like * * * * * <------200 level seats * * <----- 100 level seats theater * theater * theater * court / ice theater *********************************** No, he means like an office building. The floor/ice is not at ground level. MSG is 10 stories tall, the floor is on the 5th floor and the seating is on floors 5-10. I've never been to the theatre portion but from the way he describes it I think the theater is below the arena. Now that I re-read his post, it makes more sense now. Still, it certainly didn't look like a 10-story building. I was staring at it as we walked up to it, and it didn't appear to be much taller than the Wachovia Center or any other arena. Of course, it may have been an illusion, since there's a big tower right next to it. To get to the theater, we had to go up at least one escalator. Can't remember if more than one. We then walked through the lobby where the bars are to get to the seating, and walked down to our seats. It would make sense that we entered on the second floor, and walked down near the first where the stage is. It seemed so small though... like it couldn't have taken up the entire floor (unless there's a huge area behind the stage.) MSG has diagrams on its website. As you can see here it takes up about a quarter to a half of what would be the arena floor. http://www.thegarden...verview-map.pdf Here is the general overview of MSG diagram. As you can see the Theater is floors 2-3, and the arena is floors 5+. I think floor 1 is the lobby. I don't rally know the only part of MSG I've been in was Penn Station. http://www.thegarden...verview-map.pdf Has for its height it is probably a little of both. The bigger buildings around probably do create an optical illusion but Wachovia Center might not be that far behind in size. Remember MSG was built in the late 60's about the same time as the Spectrum in Philly. Layouts were different where it goes out more instead of stacked like arenas today. Thus the arena portion isn't as tall. As a comparison look at the height of the Spectrum compared to the Wachovia Center. Cool, thanks for the info! http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1135433/index.htm This old Sports Illustrated articles was written when they first built the Garden IV... if you click "view this issue" under the title and go to page 39, there is an interesting diagram. What was originally intended to be a bowling ally is now the club restaurants and also the becomes the theater "studio" area where they do post-draft press conferences interviews. And in case anyone was wondering, the furth floor is where MSG network offices and studios are (under the seats). The expo area is on the fifth floor (same level as the court) but underneith the seats. Thats where they do band set-up, hold the circus animals, keep the zambonis, etc. I also would from time to time see college cheerleaders rehearsing there during the big east tournament :-) I was wrong about the theater it is on floor 2-3, not 1-2. The ground level (1st floor) doesn't have much on it other than storage and entrances for freight and employees (or both in the case of Eddy Curry... zing) The Knicks, Rangers, and Libery offices are in the tower next to the garden (2 Penn Plaza). ESPN radio, WPLJ, Disney Radio, and AM 770 ABC is in there as well.
