  1. The Jaguars are so boring. A teal/black/gold team that dresses in black and white.
  2. Only I can think of is the bone Rams pants, but since they seem to be in uniform timeout, I'll pretend they don't exist.
  3. Alright, hold on a second -- first off, Tennessee should not drop the flaming shield for a simple roundel. Roundels are boring, reek of MLS or NBA, and the great thing about a good helmet logo in football (the only uniform item other than the side of a racing car where there's left->right real estate that's prime and not an armpit or pant) is that it has left-> right motion to it. It's why I am such a fan of the Broncos logo, Seahawks helmet logo, Rams horns, the new Falcon, Packers G etc. Yes, a symmetrical logo is good, but making a Titans helmet logo just the roundel would take the most fun part of the identity and turn it into a soccer logo. Boo to that idea. I could do my own shameless plug, but PERRIN's concept is probably my favorite Titans concept I've seen. It would work just as well with the traditional white helmet and that stripe he made. Either way, Tennessee *had* one of the best identities in pro sports and they mucked it up.
  4. At this point it's nauseating how repetitive and lifeless all of these reveal videos are. I hate to say it b/c as a content creator, I respect the hell out of other people's work. But with that said, it's all the same. It's like when there's a viral video/challenge/meme etc and every socail/content creator on the planet has to jump in. A most basic example is every single sports team making a silly joke about pies on Pi day, right? Uniform reveals just takes this to another level. It's become much more about simply having something new to reveal than it has become about thoughtfully designing an alternate and thoughtfully introducing it. Everything in college football is in the TikTok era of short attention spans, and the quality of the actual uniforms we get is the casualty. Because it's not about the quality (see anything unveiled by PJ Fleck). I'm to the point where I wish we went all the way back to when teams had one helmet, two jerseys, two sets of pants and called it a day.
  5. Those UGA collars are large? Idk, the worst offenders were when teams were still wearing the flywire collars a handful of years ago.
  6. In extreme Will McAvoy voice: "The first step in any problem is recognizing there is one...socks are no longer part of the uniform anymore"
  7. UGA used a three second video of a player in uniform darkened out with eyeball emojis to simply tease a 20 second video of no substance. That's an all-time hilarious troll job or short-sighted mistake from someone over there considering how uniform tweaks are received in Athens. I can't even say I am disappointed because as fun as UGA actually introducing alternate garments *could* be, I don't trust any equipment managers or the inertia of player input and trends enough.
  8. Georgia is teasing dimly lit 3 second video on Instagram with the eyeball emoji, which is pretty much guaranteed to be a uniform alteration. If it's for Saturday, it'll be just the third time since the turn of the century they've worn an alternate uniform on the road -- only other times were black helmets and pants vs Florida in 2009 and the throwback jerseys and red pants vs. Arkansas in 2020. I've always wanted to see a road uniform with a white helmet, red center stripe, black facemask, and black pants. Not sure if they'll be introducing a new helmet, but the teaser is taken at the waist, so my guess is we are getting a new set of pants. Should be interesting.
  9. Maybe it's because I am 32 and never really lived through the full sleeve era, but for me I have no issue with the way sleeve stripes or shoulder stripes terminate, like the examples above and how shoulder stripes stop kind of at 45 degrees, if you will. In fact, when LSU tried to elongate the shoulder stripes into the armpit a few years back it made for one of the most ridiculous jerseys I've ever seen. By far the biggest problem is that they're not being effectively designed to breathe, especially on NFL jerseys. The Lions and Steelers have the biggest issues, because their stripe real estate requirement is too large. ALL they have to do is scale down the stripes.
  10. You know what baffles me? The NFL tripped all over itself with the “Color Rush” program, which not only inadvertently made NFL uniform rules more ambiguous but was a failure because they quickly had teams wearing all white with white socks b/c of the issues like what we had with Bills-Jets. Move on. But instead of burying it, they created a monster with these arbitrary rules (can’t wear alternate helmet unless it’s with your “color rush” uniform or throwback or alt”. What does that even mean? The rules are being applied either. I think a no-brainer is for the league to get all 32 teams on board with throwbacks and have throwback games for all of the Thursday night games. Let teams pick a home and away throwback, and let them rotate them every 2 years (like how soccer does with home and road kits). I guess the Ravens & Texans would feel a bit left out, but I still think it’s a way better idea than doing the alternate helmet program and getting all of these odd, redundant and lame looks.
  11. This is sound work across the board -- I would challenge you to try to commit to one concept for them, and there's juicy things in each of these. Firstly, I fist pumped when you added the black facemask. I understand the disdain some have for adding black to a color palette that may not need it for the sake of definition, but I am of the opinion that the current Washington uniform would look better if they had a black facemask and then balanced it with threads of black here or there, which obviously they have in the road but not the home set. If we're rolling with the new W monogram, rounded numerals just aren't going to fit -- in fact, bisecting the numerals to fit with the way the W is broken up actually draws attention to the differences between the jaggedness of the logo and the roundness of the numerals in place, which is an issue they have IRL as well (kind of like how the Falcons had a jagged custom font but soft, rounded numbers from 2003-2019). So, I think the more traditional number font is a natural fit, and you can definitely bisect that to have the same effect. I think the sweet spot would be to follow a 70 % red, 25% gold, 5% black balance from head to toe, with the W monogram, a "blockier" number font, and incorporate the 3 stars, and you would nail this.
  12. I've not been a fan of Oregon's winged helmets -- the design is a bit too artificial for me (as opposed to more realistic designs, like the Eagles current wings). It was fun the first time we got them, but I much prefer the iconic Nike "O" monogram. My deal base for the next Oregon suite would be Os back on the helmets, a wing pattern on the sleeves, less weird Nike-fied plastic pieces, and getting away from the muddier green they use when they aren't in that beautiful apple green. If I could even get them back in that standard green from the Belotti era, that deep green shell, and maybe even some loud yellow accents from the neck down, they could try to do a 2022 version of the Joey Harrington era unis. I would eat that up.
  13. I think it's a common assumption at this point that the Falcons red pants don't exist (which is good), but I am eager to see if they ever mix in red socks, which were also part of the unveil. I think they would look amazing paired with black pants, home or road, or used to break up the leotard look if they wear black-on-black, which I am sure they will a couple of times like they did last season. Also, wild card, but I still heard through people connected to the organization that the entire gradient uniform was built around the idea of having a red helmet by 2022, and that the red shell would serve as the canvas for an alternate with a decal-swap, much like what Dallas has done with their white helmet this season. Not looking like that is going to be a thing, but who knows? Wonder if teams could tinker within these guard rails mid-season, or if everything we've seen so far is what we are going to get.
  14. Spotters and broadcasters are going to have a field day with those Rice "uniforms." I just don't understand, how anyone looked at those and said "yes." I'm also so tired of all these one-offs. Rice *should* have some of the classier uniforms in college football, instead they are only getting attention when they do something like this. That's kind of a major issue -- a lot of small programs have taken the Oregon route to be "seen," meaning if you are an average fan you may not even see more than 2 plays of a school all year -- but you might see their uniform reveal video 5 times over. If the uniform reveals are only for wonky things, the "identity" of these smaller schools ends up going by the wayside. I mean, when it comes to G5-and-lower schools, I honestly can't think I am even caught up on how half of them look anymore off the top of my head. Instead of standing out, like Oregon did, these schools are all just mucking themselves up into one bad "LOOK AT US" casserole that nobody wants a piece of.
  15. Not a giant fan of Akron's new logo, but it's not bad and those uniforms are classy as hell.
  16. Sucks should have worn yellow pants. Also, there’s so many weird details with that plastic-like material on the jerseys. I noticed the strange like green pointy thing on the shoulders and now it’s driving me crazy.
  17. It looks like Michigan has corrected its shade of maize, has more of that greenish hue to it. The past few seasons they’ve worn what appeared more like traditional gold. Looks great.
  18. if I see "icy whites" one more time I am going to ramp up my contributions to global warming.
  19. this is an all-time, hall of fame, ccsl post
  20. those are an improvement over what they had, but they really need to find something other than the NCAA Team Builder numbers.
  21. Well folks, we should start seeing uniform reveals any minute now for the games this week/weekend. Seems like things have been a bit more hush than normal, don't know if that's just a conception of my own or if it's related to supply chain stuff still having an affect on which programs are getting ahold of what, and when. Most interested to see if Georgia-Oregon is color on color, which has been a theme for CFA Kickoff games and the Peach Bowl in the past. Green vs. Red is going to look like Christmas in September. Also super interested in seeing just how bad or not bad Georgia Tech's new uniforms will be. They took a major risk with using both flat and shiny gold. The navy-over-white combo will likely be their best of the season b/c it doesn't have any of the flat gold material. As well, to round off my local ties, Kennesaw State opens Thursday so should see something from them any minute now. They usually have a uniform reveal clip (I have gotten so tired of those). They mix-and-match just about as much as anyone in FCS, but seem to like going yellow-white-yellow or yellow-white-white to open seasons and then slowly try new things as the season goes on. Here's to another 3 months of head scratching and exclaiming "WHAT ON EARTH???" in sports bars even though none of our peers know what we are talking about.
  22. Even if there may be reasons not to resemble Hampton in any way, Howard looked very good. I loved the color balance and stripe consistency. They were blue or gray pants away from perfection on Saturday (minus the logos being placed awkwardly on some helmets)
  23. I love IceCap's response about the Buccaneers. I know this is re-iterating, but it's remarkable how that first round of Nike re-designs was SO BAD that EACH TEAM that gave them the keys to the car changed their mind. Buccaneers: went back to Nike after 5 years and said "yeah, thanks but no thanks." Imagine being the creatives who worked on that, only to see them revert to their previous look? Browns: went back to Nike after 5 years and said "yeah, thanks, but no thanks." Imagine being the creatives who worked on that, only to see them revert to their previous look? Jaguars: went back to Nike after 5 years and said "yeah, thanks, but even though we didn't have a classic uniform to revert back to, can we just ...look, Tom Coughlin basically just said you can't do design anything." Nike: "Wait, not anything?" Jaguars: "Please put numbers on jerseys in our colors and ship them out, thank you."
