My point is that if Glendale's taking all the risk, Glendale should get the benefit. It's not like folks it Tuscon and other Arizona places all of a sudden like hockey now. Glendale's risking an awful lot for this hockey franchise in a way that Rosemont or Fremont probably (hopefully) wouldn't. To me, this is very much not about marketing -- the team's been there for a generation and people know it exists or they don't. It's recouping whatever value you can for a hefty investment.

So why aren't they called the Glendale Coyotes? That's the part I don't get.

I remember thinking the NHL was the bee's knees in the late 90s. In all honestly, the NHL became the Big East of pro sports once ESPN dumped it.

Not possible. The hypothetical arena is being built by the guys trying to bring the NBA to Seattle. Hockey is always going to be a secondary consideration even with a team at Key Arena. That said a secondary consideration Coyotes in Seattle are better than the no consideration Coyotes in Glendale. No, not really. I'd rather the NHL not be a catspaw for some effort to secure a basketball team. You say that like the NHL hadn't sacrificed its dignity long ago.
