I like it, but just for the cleverness of using the triangle S, I like the Surge so far.
Let's see what Charlotte has to offer.

OK guys, a Chris Creamer exclusive. The three bids for the final 2008 expansion team should go live on Thursday, when the Week 7 Midseason Report is published, but I will release each bid here first, complete with team colors, nickname, logo, and helmet design.
Three very different designs and motifs for 3 very different bidding groups. Today I will release the NC Triangle bid (including a special peak at their secondary logo which appears nowhere else unless this team becomes the winner. Tomorrow I will release the Charlotte bid, and then Tuesday the Tidewater/Hampton Roads bid.
Voting will begin on Thursday, along with a comment section on the webpage where you can try to persuade your "fellow owners" at the owners' meeting to vote for the best bid.
So, here is your sneak peak at the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill bid.... The Carolina Surge.
And a special extra peak, the secondary logo, which those of you old enough to remember the early days of the Arena Football League may recognize as a modified version of one of the classic Arenaball clubs.
What a great idea to use that Sacramento Surge logo, and to pull in the... Detroit Drive!

I say take v2, shorten the flag length, keep one of the stars to represent 2004, and Put ‘Ohio Glory’ where the other stars are
Nah, logos with words are no good. 97% of the time.

I come with no knife, as I did remember him saying at times that he was skeptical about the differences in the helmet and rumored color scheme. That just made it even harder for me to believe that it could possibly be real. It’s understandable that he wouldn’t have assumed not only that his words would have so much power but also that his readers would have so little reading comprehension as to take his word at gospel. Nobody acknowledged TruColor when he expressed skepticism in the rumors, just continued to speculate on how they would be really implemented because they were so obviously real. I even caught @oldschoolvikings implying it was real because TruColor said it was (last chance to say ‘sike,’ big dog). It just feels like a lapse in form for the boards on the whole.
Again, not saying that anything TruColor has done is wrong. Just pointing out a rather seismic cause and effect.
Remember he said he saw the helmet WITHOUT a sticker. That still fits in with the colors that didn't turn out.
Take it easy.

I agree. I’m going back to that was probably a concept that got leaked.
Wonder if it was like the DBacks redesigning to brick and turquoise and then getting cold feet and leaving it behind.
Now they're wearing that combo, however.

It's very drippy.
Did I say that right??

Can we go ahead and have someone leak something so I can start hating the design?

Arizona got that wrong, too. They should be ignoring standard time and always be on daylight time. Missed opportunity.
Well, if you prefer, we're always on Pacific Daylight Time. So ...

Are they really going with orange and silver or is that red herring?
Hmmm ... why would you say that herring is RED?
WHAT DO YOU KNOW?!!!?

The background texture of the crossword puzzle is a jersey fabric which looks like the panels that nike uses on its pants.
It very likely means literally nothing.
OR it means EVERYTHING!!!1!!!

If they DON'T go brick and orange and gray, consider it a massive missed opportunity.

I had a San Fransisco Demons jersey from that first XFL run. Sucks that I lost it.
I had them all EXCEPT that one. And NY/NJ. They're around here somewhere.

Funny to note: The league supposedly dropped the Bandits and recolored the Showboats to avoid so much red.
But with the Maulers recoloring, there sure is a lot of athletic gold now!

Clemson was apparently considering a full Bengals-inspired look in 1997:

They ended up toning it down to just having the tiger stripes on the collar for a couple years.
Call me crazy, but I kinda like it.

Maybe what's been called maroon and orange is actually maroon and copper, which always seems to be portrayed as burnt orange in fabrics.

Didn’t the Steelers do that in the 70’s?
A lot of teams did clear shells with decal and paint on the inside.
In fact, almost any pic of Roger Staubach will show a clear shell.

No - not that crazy. The hints are all out there about the helmets...when you see them, you'll say "of course".
Silver helmet with the red and silver Cardinals logo - like the suitcase with the logo on it.

In a way, if you squint, that seems to confirm the Desert Cardinals rumor (I don't mean a renaming, just the palette and logo).

@TruColor Can you say anything about the colors?

I like v2, and that's a nice idea pulling in that logo.
