  1. Anyone should consider themselves lucky to find someone who loves them as much as Gary Bettman loves the Coyotes.
  2. No one seriously thinks Saskatoon is a viable NHL market. But it'd be less embarrassing than this.
  3. This team... they don't have it in them. If their star players aren't trying to get cute with the puck they're vanishing. The Leafs have gotten hosed by officiating but you know what? They still had chances to win this series and they get so far up their own asses. lol 1967, you This core though, they're not breaking any droughts. Marner, Matthews, the whole lot of them outside of Jack Campbell. He deserves better. Oh, and Lightning? you too, you unlikeable schmucks.
  4. You can't rely on the refs to bail you out every time, Lightning.
  5. I mean...he signed with the team he grew up rooting for. Frankly it felt good at the time and still does. Southern Ontario produces some of the best hockey players in the world but as soon as the possibility to actually play for the team they grew up imagining they played for comes up they shrink away like a vampire in sunlight (looking at you, Stamkos). So having a guy of considerable skill from here who actually wants to play here is a huge step up from the usual "local Toronto-born player lists Leafs on his 'no trade' list." That all of these schmucks then go on to talk about how much it means to play for Canada internationally just adds to the dumbness. So Tavares grew up rooting for the Leafs, had a chance to play for the Leafs, and took the chance. I get Islanders fans being upset, but I also think it's unfair to make him a villain in the whole thing.
  6. Just like the Jags are going to gold helmets with a teal "Jags" script like UCLA!
  7. All this Warriors talk...
  8. I've been a Leafs fan all my life but I've never been to a Leafs playoff game live. It may not be in Toronto, but I'm gonna be there! Go Leafs go! Let's make it 3-1!
  9. No, because moving the team to the hockey crazy locale of Quebec City with a NHL-caliber arena already in place would be a step back for the league...somehow.
  10. The Leafs' striping change was 100% a "MLSE is a money monster" move. There were rumours for years that the Leafs wanted to ditch the Ballard leaf for something close to the classic logo but held off because they didn't think the resulting sweater would be different enough to get fans out there buying the new stuff. So when they finally committed to something resembling the classic logo they of course changed the hem stripe because now it's different enough so you HAVE to buy a new one! It's the type of nonsense that only MLSE could think of. Of course this is merely an explanation and not an excuse...but my counter is that the Leafs owned blue and white for a century can do whatever they want in those confines and the Lightning can kindly piss up a rope. I mean yes, the Leafs made it worse in a cynical profit driven move, but damnit, they're our colours anyway!
  11. Toronto and Tampa both look good...they're just too similar. And that's 100% on the Lightning. You know what you did.
  12. The problem with the Oilers is that their 80s team was quite possibly the greatest hockey team ever assembled. So good that they lost the best player in the history of the sport and still won another Cup. So when you leave that much of a mark on the sport it becomes hard to justify a move away from that. Look at the Islanders' fisherman disaster after ditching their dynasty unis. "The Oilers should wear orange!" "The Oilers should wear navy!" "The Oilers should wear navy and copper!" "The Oilers should wear navy and copper and look industrial!" Not bad ideas in a vacuum, though some are mutually exclusive. But it's hard to justify a move away a look that's so engrained. The 90s/00s navy and copper was accepted because it seamlessly went along with the styles at the time and it was conceptually similar to what came before. It wasn't THAT radical of a redesign (we're not talking Islanders fisherman, teal Pistons, or red and black Sabres). And if they had won that 2006 Cup maybe it sticks around but...they didn't. And it didn't. Since then they went to that Edge abomination then to the classic 80s look...then to orange and navy...and reportedly back to royal? I donno man...they always seem to revert to the Gretzky-era look anyway, and it was worn by an all-time team. Just stick with it and stop ing with it.
  13. Dot matrix! In 2022! DOT MATRIX! It's like someone from 1976 designed THE FOOTBALL UNIFORM OF THE FUTURE! Agreed. The name is alright. And while I can see a new owner wanting a fresh start with new unis I don't see the NFL willing to go through another rebrand in such a short time span.
  14. I'm going to be an annoying history teacher and go "you can elect kings. It was very common in the medieval period. And happened as late as the late 19th century when the present Belgian and Norwegian monarchies were established via elections and referendums." I'm truly sorry I ruined the joke but I hope this was at least educational
  15. Teal insisting there was no news of the Bucs changing only for them to change was certainly a top one. If only because of how defensive Teal got about his "credentials." Another good one was a guy (may have BradyIsMyHomeboy) who claimed Nike was seeding concepts on these very boards to gauge reactions to certain design elements. And he posted a specific Seahawks concept as "proof." Only for the concept artist to laugh him outta here.
  16. I get it to a degree...but also the King designation is kind of its own thing with playing cards, you know? It doesn't mean anything beyond "this is the card worth the most."
  17. Somehow I think the legacy of President Washington will survive a mock-up of a playing card.
  18. So Russell Wilson is spearheading the change to all navy on just a few months notice but ALSO he's getting them to go to throwbacks next year? The switch from orange to navy as the primary can't be done on a dime like that...and they certainly can't just do throwbacks next year on a whim because their new QB thought it would be neat.
  19. Listen TheSoundOfThrowingPennies, do you have nothing better to do then come here every other NFL off-season and spread a bunch of fake "leaks"? Still waiting on your claims about the Broncos going to orange and grey and that chrome Cowboys helmet!
