Obviously still a few days out, but will be interesting to see how the field holds up if these weather conditions happen on Sunday.

Local stations here in Tampa are saying that the majority of the rain should be before kickoff, but clearing up shortly after kickoff.

Wasn't a 40K seat stadium built just for UConn's ascension to Big East football nearly 20 years ago? Would hate to see such a relatively young stadium sit empty because it's primary tenant ceased operating.

Maybe the stadium's ownership/operators could strike a deal with US Soccer to have the national teams host more friendlies there. Or make a bid to host the NCAA D1 men's lacrosse finals. Or even make a deal for Notre Dame to play "home games" there. They'd have to do something to justify the stadium's existence if UConn were to axe the football program.

All built with taxpayer dollars.  They ain't dropping football because the state lege will kill them.

If I recall correctly, this stadium was originally supposed to be a new Patriots stadium (in another form) prior to Gillette Stadium being thought of.

And their sports seem to have been using it more lately.

Mostly basketball and soccer I think.  Baseball may have done a black version but i cant recall.  It seems most of the slime green unis have been against UCF in the past year, and this week might be the first home game against UCF in football since slime green unis have been used (not black with bright neon).

I think delaying the restart gives the league opportunities to bring a few more teams/cities into the mix. Assuming they want to expand.

I would think that now that the AAF isn't around to take some markets, you could see the original 8 remain but with some relocations to more suitable locations that laid host to AAF squads.

    - LA to San Diego (if a venue can be found, maybe Petco if Qualcomm is done)

    - Tampa Bay to Orlando (UCF or the Orlando City soccer stadium would be good smaller venues)

    - Dallas to San Antonio

Third ownership group in seven years. When was the last time a team got passed around that quickly without involving some major scandal (e.g., John Spano)?

Lightning were owned by Palace Sports thru early 2008, then sold to the Saw producer Oren Koules and Len Barrie until 2010 when Jeff Vinik took ownership.

Needless to say that happened because Koules and Barrie were incompentent and couldn't handle it.

I'm not 100% sure on the Raiders yet. We've seen their turf field, which they've used for practices, but I expect them to use the grass field for games. We shall see.

Raiders are using grass.  The turf field was primarily for UNLV and maybe all non-Raiders games.

Good point, When do you think Liberty will join a conference, NDSU is a elite program nobody talks about, so I think they go in the Big Ten.

I foresee Liberty eventually in the Sun Belt or CUSA.

NDSU will never leave D1 FCS, theyre kinda isolated conferencewise and I doubt the Big Ten will offer a jump that far.  The MAC would be their best option, but even they travel would be an issue.

I saw a new ad that will basically be in the same spot and just expand as you scroll down. Ever since It will no longer bring me to the last post of a thread but instead just to the top of the last page. It’s pretty frustrating now.

I reported this to Chris.  Moving forward,  if anyone encounters this error again can they please screencap and note any details. Browser, desktop/mobile, time of day etc so he can alert the ad network and they can fix

Mississippi retired its flag, to be replaced with one that doesn't have a symbol of the Confederacy. I've been critical of what I've seen as empty gestures, but this is not one of those, this is actually fixing something broken.

I did see that the new design has to include "In God We Trust" on it, but I guess you had to do something to get it through.

Something with river imagery would be a good start.  I found this from a site article from 2015.

"To describe its symbolism, the 21 stars are there to represent the 21 known tribes native to Mississippi. There are 19 full waving stripes, representing the mighty waters of the Mississippi River as well as our Gulf Coast. The one red stripe is a nod to the original Magnolia Flag and when added to the 19 stripes adjacent, they represent Mississippi as the 20th state."

The weird thing is the Amerks have been pretty good at developing players and were doing pretty well the last few seasons. So I don't know why exactly the Pegulas felt it necessary to clean out their staff, as well.

True, but if the issues were at the NHL level, and the staff in Rochester had connections to the old Buffalo GM, it may be a better decision to start with a clean slate.

I've seen it done with friends in the MLB player development side of things so it doesnt surprise me.

The Pegulas have pretty much blown out the entire Rochester Americans front office, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was a precursor to something worse for hockey fans in Rochester.

Well, i think the Sabres also fired their GM in Buffalo so it sounds like a top down approach.

Read something today that if there's MLB this year, and if they play at home stadiums, the announcers won't travel with the team and will call road games from studios in their home location.  I wonder if they'll be calling it based on the same feed the viewers see, or if they'll have their own CC feed that shows more of what's going on.

I would think they may have their own feed.  A few years back the Lightning radio play by play announcer decided to call road games from the studio because his wife was having health issues.  It wasn't immediately announced he was doing this until later in the season, and you couldnt even tell.

From what I've seen and heard, this is an "option" because the relationship between Charlotte and Carolina has deteriorated. Whether that's front office or more on the ownership side, I'm not sure but given Dundon's history, it wouldn't surprise me if he's pissed someone else off.

That would have the be the only reason theyd consider moving affiliates from a regional pairing to the leftover Chicago Wolves.

Florida-Chicago could make sense as flights can be had pretty easy from MDW and ORD to Fort Lauderdale.

I have a theory about the LA Wildcats. Why is their look so "fiery" and why is their name so bland (especially for a city like LA)? My thought is, early on in their design they were called the Wildfires, until they realized the sensitivities a little late and made an easy fix.

    Complete speculation though

Wow thats something I hadnt thought of, but makes a ton of sense.
