  1. I understand Nova would play at the Union's PPL Park, but isn't there some kind of average attendance minmum that FBS schools have to meet? Thus, would playing in a sub-20,000 seat stadium be an issue?

I guess they could attempt to play neutral site home games close to the home of their visitors, ala Florida Atlantic playing a "home game" at Ford Field in Detroit agaisnt Michigan State this season.

  2. C'mon, man. Of course they own their own IP. The issue is giving one company (EA Sports for Madden, Reebok for jerseys, etc.) exclusive licenses. Don't you think Madden would be better and/or cheaper if there was another company allowed to make NFL video games?

Agreed, I can recall back before the Reebok exclusive deal came into play, replica jersey store price was about $5, sometimes less. Then all of a sudden, Big Reebok goes exclusive and the same jersey that I bought the year before is now $70.

Please tell me something is wrong with this picture? :therock:

  3. So the North Carolina schools wielded their ridiculous amounts of political power to make sure they were split up into separate divisions?

    Wait... what?

    <checks the alignments>

I could've SWORE they were in the same division. In large part because it's the only logical reason for having divisions that make no logical sense.

<adds my post to the "evidence that the ACC's alignment makes no damn sense" pile>

Well, and to seperate Miami and FSU so that it's possible to have them meet in the championship game, in which this season looks to be the first where that might happen.

  4. New Pac-12 division alignment?

    PAC-12 NORTH

    California

    Oregon

    Oregon State

    Stanford

    Washington

    Washington State

    PAC-12 SOUTH

    Arizona

    Arizona State

    Colorado

    UCLA

    USC

    Utah

However, I could see Colorado/Utah being swapped for Cal/Stanford to keep the California rivalries intact.

    Maybe an Eastern/Western:

    Eastern:

    Colorado

    Utah

    AZ State

    Arizona

    Wash St

    Wash

    Western:

    Oregon

    Oregon St

    Stanford

    Cal

    USC

    UCLA

I'm pretty sure USC and UCLA are the furthest east of the old Pac 8 Schools. Or at least the easternmost "travel pair"

It also seems kind of funny to put Washington in the east and UCLA and USC in the west, when Seattle is actually further west than Los Angeles.

True, you're right...the map I was looking at was skewed a little and not flush with the Equator.

  6. This story blew up on some USF forums I visited yesterday. Problem is, there really has been no proof so far. Memphis is a good choice, probably the best "available" option, "available" in the sense that they'd probably accept. Central FL on the other hand I'm semi-questionable on. I know, I may sound biased as a USF fan, but I really think there are some better options to make a splash before inviting Central FL (Maryland, TCU, E. Carolina, Houston, Navy, Army - all are extreme stretches, but the worst they can say is NO)

  7. Where will the PAC 10 and Big 10 championship games be Jerry World?, Rose Bowl?, Lucas Oil?, Lambeau?

As for the Big 10, Lucas Oil (durr), Soldier Field, The Horseshoe, Ford Field, Lambeau.... haha I'm just throwing wild guesses but wouldn't be surprised if they were selected.

Eh, probably not The Shoe, but I could see Cleveland or Cincy in the mix instead.

  8. Nebraska first....

    Mizzou and Texas next....

    Colorado even?....

To put it lightly, the Big XII is :censored:ED.

I wonder where Baylor, ISU, Kansas, and Kansas State would do next if that happens?

The most logical option would be that the Mountain West adds those 4 plus Boise State to hit 14 teams and becom the de facto replacement in the BCS for the Big XII

  9. This is on Scout's main page this morning, which looks to be more like something I could see happening.

Q: It?s 2020. What are all the conferences going to look like? - MR

A: Sooner than later, I foresee a day when the little guys are squeezed out completely and moved to another division. Eastern Michigan just can?t compete with Michigan when it comes to attendance, funding, and in every other way a you want to compare football programs. The big boys are going to realize the money to be made by creating an uber-division of elite teams and conferences, and the Big Ten is getting the ball rolling now. After all the dust settles from expansion and realignment, here?s my best guess (with the new schools in each league in bold) for how the college football world will look ten years from now ?

ACC ? Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, East Carolina, Florida State, Maryland, Memphis, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Pitt, UCF, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia

Big Ten ? Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Purdue, Wisconsin

Big 12 ? Baylor, BYU, Colorado State, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, TCU, Utah

Pac 10 ? Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, California, Colorado, Fresno State, Nevada, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, Stanford, UCLA, UNLV, USC, Washington, Washington State

SEC ? Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee, Vanderbilt

The Big East will dissipate with all its top teams being swallowed up, meaning there will be five mega-conferences with 16 teams each. That would make an upper-level division of 80 teams with Notre Dame staying independent and remaining in the BCS mix.

Army and Navy, all MAC and Sun Belt teams, six current WAC teams (Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, San Jose State, and Utah State), two Mountain West teams (Air Force and Wyoming), and seven Conference USA teams (Marshall, Rice, Southern Miss, Tulane, Tulsa, UAB, and UTEP), will create a mid-level division between the current FBS and FCS. They'll have the ability to play the upper-division teams and with bowl tie-ins, but they won't have the legal ability to be eligible for the BCS.

  10. There are 120 Division FBS schools. Eliminate independent programs and organize these schools into 10 conferences of 12 teams each. Divide each conference into a pair of 6-team divisions. Within its conference, a team plays all 5 divisional foes each year and 3 of the 6 schools in the other division on a rotational basis, making for an 8-game conference schedule. Additionally, each school can schedule 3 non-conference games, bringing regular-season play to 11 games. (In the event that a school wishes to play a non-divisional traditional rival from within its conference, said game can be scheduled as one of the non-conference games, but won't be counted in conference standings.) Division winners in each conference face-off in a conference championship game. After the conference championship games, a 16-team playoff field is put together, comprised of the 10 conference champions and 6 at-large schools. Selection of the at-large schools and playoff seeding is determined by a committee using a combination of a coach's poll, a media poll, the Harris Interactive poll and computer rankings. Playoffs are single-elimination, with teams seeded 1 vs 16, 9 vs 8, 5 vs 12, 13 vs 4 in one half of the bracket, and 3 v 14, 11 v 6, 7 v 10 and 15 v 2 in the other half of the bracket. First-round and quarter-final games are played at the home stadium of the higher-ranked team. The semi-final and championship game sites are put out to competitive bid. The most games a championship team would have to play would be 16 - one more than the FCS champion currently has to play. Bowls could still exist and those teams not qualifying/selected for the 16-team playoff would be free to accept bowl bids. The title of "National Champion" would be determined on the field of play and awarded to the winner of the 16-team playoff tournament.

That my friend makes too much sense, thus it probably will never happen.

  11. So who is taking bets on which stadium is built first or if any of them will be built at all: Oakland, Tampa Bay or Florida.

    I'll say..

    1. Oakland (2011)

    2. Tampa Bay (2012)

    3. Florida (???)

The Marlins have to vacate Dolphin Stadium by 2010 at the latest, so I assume that if they do not show progress very soon, that Huizenga will not be willing to work with them on any kind of extension.

  12. Looks nice, but seems like a waste of money to me. Tropicana is only what.. 12 years old? Wouldn't renovating Tropicana be much easier than rebuilding Al Lang field anyway?

Although Tropicana Field is entering it's 11th season for MLB in 2008, it was built far earlier than that. The Trop was initially began construction in 1986, with the intention to lure a relocated franchise. It was finished in 1990, still without any tenants. It took until 1993 to get a tenant, in this was the Tampa Bay Lightning NHL team. The stadium was renovated to accommodate the arena-style setting and the Lightning remained there until 1996 when they moved to their new arena in downtown Tampa. The Rays were awarded as a franchise in 1995 and began play in 1998, and have been the tenants ever since.

As you can see, the Trop is clearly past due, being that contruction began in 1986, that means the design plans for the Trop were about that old. The Trop is outdated among current trends and is past it's prime, even though the team is 11 years old next year

  13. I have no idea where to put this question, so this seemed the most logical place. Why is it I can't start a new thread. I know I am new here, so does that have anything to do with it? Do I need to have a certain amount or replies before I am allowed to start a new thread? I get an error message everytime I have tried, and even when I tried to send a PM to one of the Admins I got the same message. I looked throug hthe help files, but I didn't see anything about being resticted from posting new threads. So can someone please help me?

I think you have to post 2 posts in other members threads until you are able to post your own thread. This is in place to thwart spammers from posting their own thread immediately

  14. ok heres a good one, I use Paint. I have recently tried to paste gordie_delini's MLS templates into Paint, but it seems that they all come up with a black background. I tried pasting other images, like a logo from Chris' site and it worked fine. Anyone have any clue whats going on?
