  1. Yes, but Springfield isn't owned by an NHL team. Unless the Yotes buy the Falcons, they're going nowhere.

And it's bad optics for the franchise in the same city as your league offices to up and move because its parent club says so.

Norfolk's AHL squad wasn't for sale but once the possibility of a Pacific division came about, $$$ talked and BS walked. Anything is possible.

  2. Not really a realignment more than just a simple adjustment to the playoff format. I was thinking about how MLB's two wildcards in each league face off to eliminate each other in the first round, and applied that to hockey. Plus it would allow Minny to face Winny in the opening round.

Nice try, but no. You cant have the essentiall best two teams per conference (the # 1's) play eachother in Round 1. The setup they have now is pretty much perfect where it creates division rivalries until the conference finals.

  3. The bottom line is that Brandiose "screwed the pooch" when it came to generating potential names for Hartford's Double-A baseball team. They were so intent on coming up with something fun, crazy, and outside-the-box different... so caught-up in the idea of creating a logo package that would revolve around images of a unique and/or goofy mascot - a goat, whirlybird, river-hog, praying mantis, or hedgehog - that they sacrificed adopting an identity truly relevant to Hartford.

Frankly, Brandiose has become a victim of their own success. They've become SO known as the guys who are ready, willing, and able to "push the envelope", few clients seem to want anything else from them. While it undoubtedly pays the bills, I can't help but wonder if going to the same aesthetic "well" doesn't get creatively frustrating for them?

True, but im sure all Hartford ownership wouldve had to say to the crazy ideas is NO. They didnt and we're where we are today.

  4. Looks like the AHL Bulldogs are on their way out, while the OHL Belleville Bulls are getting sold and relocated to become the new Hamilton Bulldogs.

So is Montreal moving the AHL Bulldogs to St Johns and the current St Johns to Winnipeg or is Montreal sigining a deal with the current St Johns franchise and Hamilton is off to Winnipeg?

  5. As for Winnipeg, is it really a great idea to have 2 pro hockey teams in that one city?? They should look west to Brandon/Saskatoon/Regina yes? East to Thunder Bay perhaps?

As stated in the link, the move of the Icecaps to Winnipeg could be temporary until a new facility is found (ie. Pretty much what we all assume the Sharks are doing with the AHL Sharks in SJ)
  6. Still, wherever they end up, I pray they keep the original Sharks logo!

If it's San Jose, they'll almost certainly adopt the current NHL Sharks logo - otherwise they'd have to repaint the logo at center ice on every changeover between the NHL and AHL Sharks.

They'll probably go with a different uni style and a variation on the Sharks name for the AHL team, in order to differentiate it from its parent club/arena-mate. Tiburones (Spanish for "Sharks"), perhaps?

Yeah they've said they're going to rename the team, but not to what. But it'll undoubtedly be Shark related but distinct.

How about NorCal Makos or Bay Area Makos?
