Team shot down a rename to Predators and dumping Admirals as a moniker seems dumb given its history with that organization and area.
Absolutely agreed, and I was referring to something not Predators. Admirals is great...I say stick with it.

Norfolk announced that their new affiliate is with Nashville.
New Logo & Jersey coming soon.

Maybe new logo means new name for the Norfolk team???

They've actually won four straight championships. The timing makes sense when you consider the new owner wants to put his stamp on the franchise. Americans fans are PISSED and letting the team know.
At least they're keeping the Americans name....

Texas Americans is the clear frontrunner, with North Texas maybe not far behind.
LoneStar, DFW, and Dallas all can be thrown out...

Nothing major, but the Missouri Mavericks are rebranding as the Kansas City Mavericks, next season.

Hopefully with a new logo too...because this is so weak for an identity called the Mavericks.

i say move them to Vegas and have them be the Golden Knights (think Seattle or Portland Oregon would be better but Vegas has an owner).
Well technically Vegas has been established as an expansion team already, so contracting the Coyotes is the only choice.

Fold the Coyotes and keep Vegas....

I wasn't expecting a team called the "Fire Frogs" to have such generic uniforms.
This might just be me speculating, but the team only has a 3 year lease with Osceola County and they just became a Braves affiliate.
Fast forward to 2020 when the Braves open their new spring training ballpark open in Southwest Florida. The Braves say they want an FSL team there so the Fire Frogs could be a short term solution.....but that's just me reading the situation.

The road gray is the best of the bunch, and that's not saying much.

Following the New Orleans Baby Cakes model of "Don't embarrass our players by putting our stupid team name on the uniforms."
Too bad they went the stupid route of using their location identifier "Florida" when clearly theyre in the Florida State League and all 12 freaking teams are in Florida.

Coyotes: "We are committed to staying in Arizona."
Glendale Star: "Then why were you looking at arenas in Seattle and Portland?"
Busted!!!

The FSL's Fire Frogs will unveil the new uniforms on 2/15/17 according to their twitter.

Bob Costas has stepped down from Olympics hosting and will pass the torch to Mike Tirico.
Cant say this is a surprising move.

I guess if Hartford is going to have a team, it's probably best as the expense of a NY regional team.
I never understood the reason for 3 NHL teams in NY metro.

Is the izod center in Jersey still functional? Maybe a stopgap if a new arena needs to be built.
-
Seattle and Quebec are really the only foreseeable options as I don't see the NHL or any league for that matter going past 32 teams.
Quebec has an NHL ready venue, and my gut says that at some point in the next 5 years that Carolina moves there.
Seattle will be the expansion team 32 if and when their arena gets footing.

Not so coincidentally, a bunch of those have at least some relationship with the MAC. All except the Cure Bowl, I believe. Poor MAC.
Edit: and Arizona
And that wasn't my point with removing those, just coincidence.
It feels like bowl games are like participation trophies. It makes it more special if there is a supply and demand kind of thing.

Looks like we have our first off season casualty to the bloated list of bowls. Surprised it was the Poinsettia Bowl to go down first given it always had decent attendence. But it definitely won't, nor should it be the last to fold.
http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/aztecs/sd-sp-poinsettia-0126-story.html
When there are 40 bowls with many hosting losing record teams it's time to pare them back.
I can think of a few more that can probably fall off the list too:
- Arizona Bowl (when you cant get a TV deal with ESPN or another big network and stick with the American Sports Network you're destined for failure)
- Bahamas Bowl (yes, its a nice location, but there's a reason why the MAC and CUSA are your affiliations)
- Cure Bowl (one stadium doesn't need 3 bowls)
- Birmingham Bowl and Camellia Bowl (Birmingham and Montgomery don't wow me as traveling cities.)
- Potato Bowl (I know they've been in the lineup for a long time, but it's Boise in December....hard nope.)
-
I don't get it, what was Donovan doing that was improper or illegal?
-
I wonder what Falcons red endzone white wordmark would look like to reflect how it looks on their home jerseys.
-
I'd say he is spot on for the endzone colors for the four teams. The only year that I recall alternate/secondary color endzones was SB34 when Tennessee has light blue over navy and the Rams had gold over royal.
As for the Steelers, have they ever had a black Super Bowl endzone? SB42 and SB45 both had yellow for sure, and I believe 40 did as well.

True, it's probably not at the point that Vegas needs a squad of their own just yet.
