  1. Thinking about what a uniform "should be" over its stand alone quality has definitely happened in the past and will again. It's something to take into account and most folks on here do. We could do a whole thread on past uniforms that were good on their own maybe but not for that team (arguably the 2000's Astros fall into that category). "Thick skin" is such an overused term on the internet. The mods on these boards do a good job and this is one of the nicer communities around which is a good thing.
  2. I've generally been curious about the Bears deploying this combination on Thanksgiving Day. https://www.gridiron-uniforms.com/GUD/controller/controller.php?action=single-weekly&game_id=1934_CHI-DET^13 Solid white helmet. White jersey with the classic stripes and solid navy block numbers. Canvas colored pants. Blue socks with orange stripes. That against the Lions classic throwbacks would be a visual feast.
  3. Does the inevitable appeal go to the 5th Circuit or the Fed Circuit?
  4. Your honor, the color of the pants is clearly an issue of fact and relevant under the FRCP to counsel's argument that one Henry Hill of Arlen, TX would prefer metallic blue.
  5. INCORRECT! In the episode A Beer Can Named Desire where Hank has the opportunity to throw into an inflatable beer can during the Saints/Cowboys game, he's offered the chance to wear Don Meredith's jersey, he asks for the pants too. When presented with the britches, Hank swoons, "Ahhh Cowboy metallic blue." I think Hank loves the current shade. If anything, he might hope for them to tweak the helmet color.
  6. Ah the somewhat less cesspool-y early web.
  7. Dallas historically has had varying colors for the helmet and pants. Just scrolling through images, its really hard to find a year when the helmet and pants had the same color. Even today, trying to match colors is difficult across different mediums. For example, the helmet finish isn't a pure silver like the Raiders or Lions. It has a degree of blue in it but less than the current (or historical home pants) but more than the current (or historical) dark jersey pants (or the Little Giants set).
  8. See my earlier comment on the Bengals 2021 rebrand being a success. Adding the black/white/orange as a jersey/pants/socks combination really sealed it. I honestly cannot tell which I prefer to be the full time, primary home look. I always like the idea of a team having a special variation of their standard look for big games, the orange socks could be that for Cincinnati. Save the orange hose for key games or division games. Then again, its pretty awesome so maybe just roll with them full time. I still love the black socks on the road with white pants. Ideally, I'd probably like to see Cincinnati split their road games evenly between white/black/white and white/white/black then go with black/white/orange for most home games with black/black/black, orange/white/orange, and orange/black/orange each getting one game.
  9. Somebody is going to write a really interesting book about this Washington rebrand in about 10-20 years once there's some distance.
  10. Not a Chicago Wolves thread but just acknowledging the Wolves have not substantively changed their (awesome) jerseys in their entire, nearly 30 year history.
  11. I'd wager strongly that these are the rear numbers. The current jersey template has a seam running down the center and the stitching closely resembles kiss-cut outlining for twill numbers.
  12. Probably because the current fauxbacks are re-adapted 1969 throwbacks with a black helmet because of the one-shell rule.
  13. Excellent question. They were part of the reveal but have never made an appearance in the flesh. https://www.atlantafalcons.com/news/sftb-fans-players-media-weigh-in-on-the-new-look-falcons-uniforms I've no idea if there's a box of them sitting in the Falcons' equipment room and the staff just hasn't opened it. Ditto for the red socks. They might exist which just further reinforces my belief that the choices made by team staff matter just as much as the designers.
  14. All open to interpretation. Just noting the change in approach the Falcons' equipment staff has made this season.
  15. In an interesting reversal, let's check in on the Atlanta Falcons in their combinations in non-fauxback, non-gradient games: 2020 Monochrome: 11/14 2021 Monchrome: 3/14 They went from being among the most monochrome heavy teams in the NFL to one of the least. UPDATE: With the final game being monochrome the Falcons exactly reversed their 2020 distribution. From 11 of 14 games monochrome to 11 of 14 non-monochrome.
  16. I was unaware of the "Tex's Rangers" connection. It probably gets a pass given that the connection is in the distant past and the visual identity doesn't connect to the Texas Rangers or a general Western motif. If the team wore spurs or stars you could definitely make the argument but they don't even have a sleeve patch. If you don't know that specific history with the owner there's little to indicate it to viewers. I could see it coming up but its probably indirect enough.
  17. I just did a redesign with a red insignia on a red cap so no comment.
  18. There's no problem with the Nationals, especially since the team has never incorporated anything particularly militaristic or jingoistic into their identity. We all know how that war turned out so there's no issue with the Yankees. Maybe I could see an issue with the Padres depending on how you view the role of the Franciscan Order in the colonization of New Spain. Though in San Diego, that influence is pretty limited to the founding of the mission which the city grew out of and certainly there's no blaring issues with the Franciscans today. Cool tangent: The Padres brown is derived specifically from the robes of the Franciscan Friars. This is in marked contrast from the Dominican Friars who wear white and black robes and Benedictine monks who wear black. This specific tone of brown worn by the Franciscans is also the etymology of cappuccino. At a coffee house you could specific how much milk would be added to your coffee by telling them that the color should match the color worn by the Capuchin Friars (a subdivision of the Franciscans).
  19. The only thing offensive about the Angels is not winning the division despite having both Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani.
  20. I still love the Rancheros. Lots of interesting opportunities design wise. Given we'd be talking about the original cowboys, you could probably use a version of the hat logo given the Stetson is just an East Coast rip off of the sombrero.
