  1. although i actually like the look of the white ball, i think the problem is simply that the sunburst is just based on a logo that everyone associates to be orange. i really dont think theres anymore to it than that. if the Suns logo always had a white ball then people wouldn't have as much of a problem. i like the look of the new jerseys, but it's just odd when you're essentially wearing an enlarged logo of your team except the logo is recolored. the closest comparison i can think of is maybe if the raptors decided to modernize their original dinosaur jerseys and made the dinosaur white or something.
  2. Suns came out with their new jerseys so i thought i'd tag along with a new court design. A lot of it is based on the original 90s court that was paired with the original sunbursts. Including all the exact use of colors and the orange circles. I altered the center court logo a bit with a little orange on the end of the sun logo just like how the original 90s court did. except i also made it to where it referenced the pixel design that the suns use on their statement unis. and on the outside of the court you can of course see the giant sunburst taken directly from the new jerseys and also present-day wordmarks with the drop shadow like on the new jerseys also made a statement edition court just cause i felt like their statement jerseys don’t really fit with a regular purple and orange court. also know a lot of people miss the retired valley court so this is sort of like a call back i also still have no idea if i should follow my head canon of teams still having full wordmarks down the baseline or if i should go for realism and give all my courts adjusted ad space
  3. here's more of a better look at the shorts. instant turn off for me now lol. always hate those random lines that’s been on the suns/clippers shorts
  4. gotta say im proud of the suns for coming out with this new uniform set. yes it will always be in the shadow of the originals and yes there are some tidbits id change like the iffy proportions. but i can still say im pretty satisfied. this makes a run for the best uniform set that they've have had since the sunbursts in my opinion. and with teams like them and the kings now adding some more personality to their uniform sets, maybe this whole minimalism phase in the nba will come to an end. you can still have a modern and sleek jersey with plenty of personality.
  5. i’m just glad there’s a gradual increase in teams with a front design outside of letters and numbers. of course we’ve had the blazers with their sash and the warriors with that bridge logo. in recent years we’ve had the hornets bring back the double pinstripes, raptors going for that big chevron design, and now the suns bringing back that sun stripe design. i wonder who will be the next.. maybe jazz bringing back mountains full time?
  6. yea i agree. the logos are great honestly. i mean you cant really ask for more from a team named the new orleans pelicans. all the concepts logos i've seen are always too gaudy, too silly, or just not fit for the nba. the pelicans logos are sleek, sharp, symmetrical, have good color balance, etc. that's when the whole scheme of modern and sleek works. but outside of that is when they fall off a cliff. even with the amount of freedom that nike gives they've failed to capitalize off what the city has to offer. you can just check https://basketballjerseyarchive.com/new-orleans-pelicans-jerseys/#2010s and see that all uniforms post-hornets have been mostly just copying and pasting off each other. imagine if the pelicans had a creative team that was on the level of teams like the hornets who always come out with crazy new jerseys or the heat who've made some of the craziest marketing videos i've seen (still blown away by those vice videos they made) it sucks when youre a design geek plus pelicans fan living in new orleans and you see all this art and culture around you daily just to see your team do absolutely nothing with it. i dont think anyone wants them to step up their game more than i do.
  7. if i wasnt a pelicans fan i would say those are alright. but since i am i can say that im pretty disappointed. i like the idea of bringing in a "crescent city" jersey, i like the idea of bringing some more gold into the mix. and i can appreciate the marketing team for making a decent video (yes the bar is that low for us,) but on the other hand: they scrapped the most iconic jersey the franchise has had since the rebrand happened over a decade ago.. the new color balancing is odd. the front and back of the jersey looks like a pistons/wizards jersey. but the side colors add some much-needed pelicans pop with the gold. but the side design is way too generic for my liking. every team's got some iteration of vertical stripes going down the sides. they could do way better than that given all the elements from the city they could have incorporated. maybe some wrought iron, maybe some fleur de lis.. anything the pelicans are the youngest brand in the nba, they've pretty much been wearing the same uniforms since the brand was birthed 10 years ago. with one of the core jerseys gone, it just doesn't feel right. all the little success the team has had and all its memorable moments have been in the red "PELICANS" jerseys. they're easily the most popular jerseys and the one everyone associates most with the team. if you're gonna get rid of them (which i don't think they should have in the first place) you gotta at least go all out and not make something that looks straight out of 2k.
  8. pretty large number and it seems to be centered. the sun stripe might be pretty small im guessing. also looks like they’re keeping that same exact trim. kinda wish they changed it up just to establish the new jerseys as more than just replacing the front design. but that’s just me nitpicking
  9. i always felt like at least one of them should go for a direct red-and-white look. especially the raptors. i think it's ironic that they based their entire brand around a jersey that was in red and white... i also think it fits best for them as the canada flag is red and white as well. and just in general red and white has a really a fresh look that I think fits the them best. as for the rockets, they were originally red and grey before their jersey rehaul in 2019. red and grey was at least something a little different even if it wasn't eye catching. but like many, they went for red and black. i really wanted them to go back for the red and yellow look but they missed that opportunity and surely enough the hawks got their hands on it. i think it would be neat if the rockets went for a red and dark-red look that we got a glimpse of a few years back. much more of a cleaner and unique contrast in my opinion.
  10. a little late but here’s my court concept for the nuggets. it’s essentially their regular court but i took added some design aspects that come from the city edition jerseys they wore when winning the championship. the red part of the keys made to resemble the jersey trim and the lines on the outside made to resemble the side design of the jerseys. i wanted to make a court that really reflects off the city of denver and their championship. so theres some extra design aspects added like the mountains. also made a championship logo version just to see what it would look like. /— As for the kings here’s a court concept based on their new rebrand. i used the new cursive wordmarks on the baselines and in the arc. i incorporated a little beam design down the middle. and went for an asymmetrical look based on their new statement unis. the black side has a little fading effect to play into the beam-in-the-sky theme
  11. i feel like the kings are now in this weird territory where they're a cursive team but at the same time they're not. their two main jerseys use cursive lettering. but their third one as we see here won't and i doubt the city edition would either. and if it does itll be gone within a year anyways. none of their main logos use any cursive lettering. they all still feature that old blocky font. and it doesn't help that theyre continuing to use that font on a rotational jersey. it makes me happy to finally see a cursive team again in the league but honestly speaking the two main jerseys feel more like alternates considering everything else down to the current court design (which i hope is changed by the regular season) uses their old font. their brand as a whole just isn't striking me as royalty like how i wish it would. but at least they've taken the first steps. thought this would look a lot better
  12. i kinda wish the kings went for a new side design. maybe even getting rid of the side stripes altogether for that more classic feel. or maybe going full time with the checkerboard. still feels like they’re wearing the same jerseys but just replaced the wordmarking and color. also a shame that there’s no jersey with a cursive sacramento script. but all in all i can’t complain.
  13. didnt the rockets bring back the championship season jerseys not too long ago? if so i think they'll be bringing back the white version of them if they do celebrate this anniversary but then we also add the pinstripe jerseys into the equation which they've been sort of wearing these past 2 seasons. the twitter basically confirms that this style is coming back again. so i just wonder if itll be directly in a throwback jersey this time or switched up through a city edition like they've been doing. because if they do celebrate the anniversary they can only have one of each right? or can a team have two throwback jerseys?? two city editions?? (doubt) or maybe they wont do anything for the anniversary at all
  14. obviously nitpicking but i prefer the blue tinted grey. sorta makes all the difference for me as i think it slightly compliments the purple more. but other then that, im loving the cursive. a cursive branded team is exactly what the league has been needing and id honestly say that the kings were the best candidate to go in this direction. really embraces the whole royal theme. im hoping they come out with a real nice court design (please less black) and hopefully some a really good uniform set.
  15. i figured something was up when the instagram page changed their profile picture to the (was) secondary logo and now primary logo. i just don’t get it though. absolutely no upside to this change. you lose the fleur de lis, you lose the wrought iron, you literally lose the name of the city (plus that unique font), you lose the pop of red. and overall you just lose that unique shape the original logo had. bad move. assuming that the two logos just switch spots now (please don’t tell me the new orleans logo is just gone) it just makes no sense that a secondary logo would be more intricate than a primary logo. i mean sure the new logo looks better in some situations like on a tshirt or sticker or something but its not like that logo didnt already exist before the change. thats what secondary logos are for. its there for teams to use. the only change this does is that the team will have to suddenly prioritize using this "new" logo more for no reason. if anything its a step backwards as they lose everything i listed above. honestly as a pelicans fan who’s been paying close attention to the creative side of this team for years, i think this was just a change for change’s sake move as many things are nowadays. from the constant lackluster jerseys to the subpar marketing team, i think the team just did this for the heck of it.
  16. something that’s crossed my mind: i wouldn’t mind if the suns did a little rebrand revolving the gradient pixels look. i bring this up because after beal got traded all i’ve been seeing across instagram and twitter is him photoshopped only in the suns statement jerseys. like you can check the @suns page on instagram and look at their tagged posts. it’s mostly all pictures of him and the other players in the statement unis i think it’s pretty obvious people during these past 2 years people have been associating the suns mostly with that pixel gradient look. and i honestly wouldn’t hate it if they go full time with that theme. it’s better than the leaked jerseys we’ve seen which just looks like a failed modernization of the throwback jerseys. sure the pixels can be a little tacky to some but there’s no denying that it sells like crazy. it’s very modern and still captures the spirit of the old sunburst days. my only thing though is that i still have no idea what the suns and phoenix have to do with pixels..
  17. questionable move to wear those jerseys on the greatest day for their franchise. i mean it’s a good looking jersey that could even pass as a rotational jersey. with that being said though, they created this new uniform set just a couple years ago and spent most of their time contending in them. it just kinda irks me that it was all topped off by a jersey that probably won’t even return next year. and even if it does, it still doesn’t balance out how much they done in their regular jerseys leading up to this. when i think of the 2x mvp jokic i instantly think of him in the jerseys with the wishbone collars and the mountains on the shorts. so close to a picture perfect finals finale
  18. i can’t see the kings possibly being that dumb… i mean they already have that whole thing with the purple beam. what i can see though as mentioned is that (like every other team these days) they just put all their focus on black. which i feel we’ve already seen enough of and it’s just not good. as someone else said, they should just own purple. i mean they’re the only team to wear purple and not have it paired with any other non neutral colors. it’s a really distinct look and its a shame if they just water it down with more black.
  19. that logo just kinda emphasizes how dark the teal is on their logos for some reason is. and how dark the purple is all around the team’s branding (uniform, court, etc) think they were better off just bringing the last anniversary logo back and changing the year numbers
  20. i dont think its that big of an issue using another teams font its just kinda funny when the font in question is very obviously that of another team. like i think even non uniform enthusiasts can spot those out and notice it's more fitting for the cavs. better look at the font here: ----- i'd also like to bring up this concept by casey vitelli on twitter. not sure if these have been posted already but these look so much better and cleaned up. way better number font. way better scaling and placement of the sunstripe and wordmark. and also some uniformity with the statements.
  21. seeing these in real form all i could really say now is wow what a awkward-looking jersey. i thought the fan rendering did it some justice. but these just fall so flat. maybe they'll look better officially on the players. but from what we see here these do not look great. the stripe and the wordmark are so oddly small. the number font feels out of place and is sitting at a weird angle too apparently. and one jersey has the stripe filled in while the other doesnt... its just a strange looking mess. im a believer that a team can take an old look and modernize it (as we saw from the city jerseys for the 75th season.) and its a shame that the suns missed the mark here. they could have easily added in the gradient theme.
  22. excuse the rough editing but i completely agree. it 100% looks way better than the blocky “SAC” that they use on their main jerseys. and as mentioned earlier they could really build a new set around this look.
  23. its hard because theres teams like the grizzlies, wizards, pelicans, magic, heat, jazz etc. who have statement jerseys that blend in just fine with the main two jerseys. like i would actually prefer if the grizzlies wore more light blue than navy. and i definitely would prefer the jazz to wear more black than they do neon yellow (why are their jersey categories flipped to begin with?? whos idea was it to categorize the neon yellow jersey as an icon jersey?) anyways, you then have teams like the suns, knicks, bucks, kings, pistons, etc. who have statement jerseys that stick out like a sore thumb. like i dont even wanna see the knicks wear their navy jerseys given that their brand is barely centered around navy at all and that their home floor doesnt match whatsoever. same for the suns. but then.... this brings up teams who happen to have city jerseys that almost look like rotational jerseys. like the nuggets this year
