  1. If the move to St Pete and into the Trop had happened, the Giants would probably have ended up looking something like that, they probably wouldn't have used cream and gold. So in terms of aesthetics, it worked out for the best that the Giants stayed in San Francisco, as we would never have gotten both Oracle Park and the rebrand that went with it.

A little sneak peek of the new La Liga logos for next season ...

A blanded out logo with zero soul replacing a logo which only needed a slight update. The sooner this trend dies out the better.

The Wrexham one would make a beautiful Manchester United home kit

The third colour on the cuffs is green and the pattern on the shirt has the Welsh Dragon. If you changed the green to black and replaced the pattern with one representing Man U, then it would make a good shirt for the Red Devils.

Everything looks really good except for the R logo, but I wouldn't abandon it completely. I think with some retooling it could work. It's mainly the shape of the R you went with. It feels very outdated; like it's straight out of the 70's or 80's. If anything hold onto it for a feauxback uniform? Look forward to the rest

Thanks! I'm going to try and retool the R logo and make it look more of a modern shape. It probably could work for a fauxback uniform with a suitably 70's script.

I think the 'R' logo is 100% worth salvaging, especially the idea of working the silhouette of a mountain into the lettering. The ball fits the space as-is, but I'd suggest shrinking its size by about 10%. I also think the overall shape of the 'R' would be improved if the mountain silhouette at the bottom was made of hard angles instead of flowing curves.

It's a critique I have of the main logo, too. The current silhouette looks more like Denver Intl. Airport than the Rocky Mountains themselves, and I truthfully thought you intended it that way upon first glance. The Rocky Mountains are, well, rocky, and are much sharper and angular than most other North American mountains. I think representing that would benefit the overall look, at least in the main logo. The photo below kind of shows what I'm trying to say, at least in regards to the DIA/mountains comparison.

That said, all the designs are really well done as-is. Your reasoning behind the design choices is also really thought out, and shows the effort you're putting in here. I'm excited to see what the next update will be!

Thanks! The next set of updates will take into the rockiness of the Rockies and improve the sleeve patch logo, and I'll keep working on the R logo.

There’s the NL West! I’ll add the Central soon! I’ve redesigned them a bit since my last Central post on this thread. Let me know what you think of these concepts! Thanks!

The Dodgers and Padres look fine, as do the Giants, though the socks with the three orange stripes are missed.

Going back to purple and turquoise is a good move for the Diamondbacks, and making the road uniform sand is pretty cool. The D-Backs script still sucks though and the A would look a hell of a lot better on the home and home alternate, as would using the cuff pattern on the original alternate jerseys.

Not a fan of the green for Colorado, the purple was chosen due to a line in America the Beautiful, and the uniforms here look too drab with the black and the unsaturated green. The purple should have been kept, and don't worry about two teams in one division using purple - the teal and copper, as well as the cream and sand should keep the Diamondbacks looking distinct from the Rockies.

Maybe, but I tried not to get too hung up on what exactly "would've" happened, as it would've then essentially just been the regular Pirates set with "Tampa Bay" on the road jersey. I wanted to take at least a little bit of creative liberty of my own with these teams, and you'll continue to see that throughout the rest of the series.

I do prefer black and gold to blue and gold for the Pirates, but can't deny it's a nice colour scheme. I would like to see the Pirates set in gold, black and red, as I can see the team in Tampa adding red to the colour scheme just like the team did in Pittsburgh in 1997.

And almost forgot, thanks for doing the Marlins pinstripe jersey. The 1997 sleeveless jersey was the definative version of that uniform.

  6. I'm absolutely sure the Pirates would have kept the black and gold if they moved to Tampa, the region is famed for pirate lore and the Gasparilla festival takes place there every year. The Pirates brand would have fitted Tampa Bay like a glove, and I doubt the owners would have made the team colours less piratical.

And it is confirmed that the MUFC away kits not only are green and white stripes but a thin red stripe will be in the middle of the white stripes. They look like Christmas candy lol.

That shirt is wretched. Not a particularly nice colour combo to start off with, and the boxed sponsor and badly colour matched back panel makes it even worse.

I hope whoever that quote came from realizes the NBA also has multiple types of court ads, jersey ads and TV ads as well, so they're just as ad-riddled as the NHL is lmao

The NBA banned the Bucks and the Sixers from wearing cream uniforms due to the digital ad interferance, so unless the NHL has also banned a team from wearing a certain uniform color, then they are, if anything, worse than the NHL in terms of advertisements.

Digital ad inteference? What does that mean?

Basically, the cream and the hardwood being so close together in color means that on TV, you get the same sort of effect as this when a player goes over a digital ad.

Small amounts of the color are okay, but with digital ads, cream uniforms are history in the NBA.

  10. Love the wordmarks and the colours. The drawing of the mascot is good too, though I don't know why it's a South American rodent, and calling it a type of mouse is like calling a Giraffe a type of deer - Chinchillas are much more closely related to guinea pigs and capybaras than they are to mice.  I'd call the mascot after a local name for a ground squirrel rather than a Chinchilla.

The main uniforms are okay, but I think you could have done a lot more with the blue, red and vanilla colors rather than just going with the one color armhole and collar trim and solid side panels. The city edition is nice but probably would be banned from use for the same reason the Bucks and Philly had their cream uniforms banned (digital ad interferance).

Overall though, this is a really cool concept with great logos, just the uniforms need a bit of work.

And why did they feel the need to change it?

75 years since the Porsche 356 was launched. The company was actually founded in 1931, but Porsche wants to keep that quiet for reasons that should be pretty clear considering it was a company founded by an Austrian in Germany during that time.

You could argue that Oakland is a poorly managed city but I don’t think a refusal to play ball with even more poorly run sports teams really counts in that argument.

If the A's ownership really wanted to stay in Oakland, they wouldn't be sandbagging for the past 3 seasons. Nothing short of bending over backwards for that ownership would have kept the A's in the city with Fisher and Kaval in charge.

I think you're really onto something with the flying ball occupying the negative space inside the "R," and I love the idea of the green latticework forming the stitches of the baseball. However, the shape of the "R" looks a little awkward to me. I know you're trying to do something really different, but I can't help but think the ball would work better inside a Colorado "C."

Thanks for the feedback! I think we can all agree that at this stage, the Rockies could do with something different and that's why I went with an R. I tried with a C, and here is the result.

I also came up with a home script, based on the font used for the Coors Field logo.

Not sure to go with a different font for the road script or use the same one as the home.

  14. I think going back to Anaheim is the right choice for the Halos, but I wouldn't want them to drop the trim on their shirts entirely, as it looks pretty good on the home and road, and just needs the silver dropped on the alternate. That said, it looks pretty nice without the trim here. The white outlines on the road could be dropped for an even cleaner look

The alternate red is a big improvement over what they have in real life, the cream looks good, though it really needs a matching batting helmet like the current City Connect has. The cream wordmark, name and numbers are all really nice.

Back to the project after quite a break, here are the kits for Colorado Rapids and a new emblem, with a football carried along by rapids in front of three mountains and a sun.

The home and road are both burgundy and sky, and both have a subtle pattern on them representing rapids, for the home the pattern is between the burgundy pinstripe pairs. On the inside of the home and road shirts is the rapids pattern and underneath is a slogan, "Look up to a Burgundy Sky" for the home and "Since 1996" for the road. The jock tag is a columbine flower.

The third is in gold and blue, with a recoloured crest.

And here is the home sleeve patch, with the fly ball with the details from the Coors Field logo as stitching on a home plate, in front of three purple mountains. The CO lettering is also on the logo, with a drop shadow in order to keep some black in the colour scheme.

    Next, the road sleeve patch.

Yes and you suggested the A’s would even think they’d have some grounds to demand payment from MGM for being in view from the ballpark… which is ridiculous (I was mocking the very idea in reverse). Then again so is the whole A’s organization is ridiculous so they may just be dumb enough to try something like that.

So expect an announcement from the A's threatening MGM with legal action in the next few weeks.

  18. So, why the Rockies? Well, except for a change in the shade of purple used, the team has had more or less the same look since starting in the MLB, and it's not only a look that strays close to the White Sox, it's also one that is pretty dated IMO.

So, a brand refresh is well overdue.

First off, the purple stays, but with a new shade, and is joined by Pretty Columbine. The green used on the Coors Field logo will be used as an accent colour on the secondary logos, and while it won't appear on any logos, gray will still be the base colour of the road uniform and alternative road uniform pants. And on those uniforms, Pretty Columbine and Gray will always be separated by purple.

As opposed to Tampa Bay and Arizona, two teams that also had purple as a main colour when they started, I wanted Colorado to have a cool colour scheme as opposed to the gradient and the copper the other two have respectively. It was also a choice to distinguish the team from the other major sports teams based in Colorado, who all have warm colours in their scheme.

I decided to reduce black to a supporting colour,  appearing as an accent colour on the secondary logos. I didn't want to get rid of it entirely, but I wanted to push the concept of the Rockies as a foremost purple team, with the colour of the state flower of Colorado as support. Between the Diamondbacks, Rays and Rockies, I thought the Tampa Bay (Thunderstorms) and Arizona (Copper compounds) had more of a reason to use the colour than Colorado did, so black takes a back seat.

PART ONE - THE CAP EMBLEM

    eb2dcb28dfdf30d6776896a1dbb9d22d289d2b1b

For the main cap emblem (home and road caps), I decided to just go with an R, and incorporated a baseball with trails similar to the current Rockies logo. On the ball, inspired by the Brewers Barley Ball logo, the arch detail from the Coors Park logo comprises the baseball stitches, and in the negative space between the two legs of the R is a purple mountain outlined by columbine.

I wanted to incorporate a baseball in one negative space and a mountain in the other, and Coors Park is worthy of being represented in the teams logo, and I wanted green in the teams colour scheme somewhere, as it's a very Colorado colour.

So that's the main cap emblem, next it's the main logo!

  19. So, this is going to be a top down brand refresh for the Colorado Rockies, with new parts being unveiled, tweaked and perfected. This thread will see the debut of new templates for uniforms and other articles of clothing, and by the end, a full set of concepts, along with reasoning explaining the design choices shown.

Edit - well, this was a CR thread, but now it's a Baseball logo design thread, just wanted feedback on logos and I think this way will help me perfect them in order to build to probable all MLB team series in the not too distant future.
