    Uruguay has joined Nike.

    https://www.footyheadlines.com/2024/04/uruguay-announces-nike-kit-deal.html

"The 2024 Copa America will be held in the United States, with the tournament kicking off on 20 June. Uruguay's first match is scheduled for 23 June against Panama at the Sun Life Stadium in Florida. There is also a friendly against Mexico scheduled for 5 June, which could mark the debut of the new Nike uniforms for the Celeste team".

The Desert Hawks look like they're from Buffalo. 🙄 Needless red and blue at the highest level.

They were previously the West Texas Warbirds and kept their colors when they rebranded. Phenom Elite would have been the better option for the league than BSN.  All they had to do was not allow the insane pants designs that they gave them when they were in charge of the league. Someone said that at least one of the teams (Philadelphia) will not be wearing the clunky numbers that are shown on every single uniform. I hope that's the case for the rest of the league as well.

All they had to do was keep this design. I also wonder how much more form fitting the gameday uniforms will be, because they didn't even attempt to make the jerseys form fitting when doing these shoots.

People like beard dork and local sports radio hacks who need the topic are the only ones who give a single :censored: about this "move."

He's a councilman for the city of Cleveland. Of course he's going to have issue with the team moving out to the area around the airport. Nobody else in Cuyahoga County or the state of Ohio would care if the browns were in the suburbs.

Hell, I think a stadium in Richfield would probably be more beneficial for all the fans driving to the games. The lakefront location only really benefits the Mentor and northeast Ohio shore fans. Everyone else would be better served by a stadium south of town along 480 or 271.

Ruiter is also constantly crapping on the Browns and Guardians, I don't know why he bothers covering Cleveland sports if it brings him so much pain. Moving off the lake to Brook Park isn't like packing the team up for Oklahoma City. Why that councilman is upset, outside of having to travel that little bit farther on game days, is beyond me.

A foreign national shows up big time for a league seeking an identity. Welcome Brandon Vasquez!!!! Inter Miami, , actually Tata since he's in charge, has proven once again  that just doing the same thing over and over again that doesn't work is the style he's comfortable with. Not paying for defenders and shipping out Yedlin also bit them pretty hard last night.

Luis Suarez also went back to some of dark arts, twisting arms and such. When it gets to that point, you know the game is over. But it was only 1-0! As much talent they have, Miami needs to add a lot of youth, right now! Otherwise, they may not make the playoffs if they aren't in the top 4 or 5 spots before Copa and the Euros kick off.

  5. Columbus Crew survived a pretty Concacafy evening thanks to Tigres refusing to stick goals in the back of the net in the first half. After spending 10 minutes to decide if a Tigres player was offside, VAR refused to have the center ref look at an obvious penalty by Tigres that would have given Columbus a chance to tie the match 1-1. Fortunately they would eventually do so before winning 4-3 on penalties, with Patrick Schulte making two saves and almost making a third.

Club America took their time cutting New England Revolution to pieces, winning 9-2 on aggregate.

Columbus gets the winner of Monterrey vs Inter Miami, and Club America will most likely face Pachuca, who has a 5 goal lead over Club Herediano of Costa Rica.

Our long national nightmare of hideous recycled plastic MLS jerseys have been relegated from game use to strictly prematch use! 🙌 A great cause but they always looked terrible.

I'm betting they end up getting used in game, since the Crew have Ohio Health as their pregame/practice shirt sponsor.  I'd be happy if they aren't though.  If they treat these like the Love United shirts I'll be fine with that, but with different colors it makes me think they'll be game wear.

MLS One Planet jerseys. Three different jersey color sets this year! They're also using the 2024 adidas template.  MLS lists them as pre-match shirts instead of game jerseys though.

#1 - Hey, do you wanna go see the Pantbers play this weekend?

#2 - I would, but their end zones don't match their uniform colors.

    Said no one ever.

I'm saying they look like they don't plan on staying there because of how the field is laid out. At least DC has a reason why they don't have all of the same markings as the rest of the league. Fans that are already hesitant to get involved with the league will look at that as a sign Detroit isn't taking the league seriously.

Michigan’s mistake is playing in an NFL stadium where lack of attendance is noticeable. They’d be better off play in Ann Arbor, East Lansing or any smaller Michigan university.

It only works for St Louis because the local population craves football to be there.

The big issue I see for Michigan is that the Lions Honolulu blue end zones can't be painted over with anything other than white paint apparently. That gives the impression of a temporary venue, similar to what Rice actually is for the Roughnecks. That alone could turn off locals that aren't coming in to watch the Panthers play.

Yeah, when I first saw a picture of what they were wearing, I wasn't looking forward to it. But the two teams against each other didn't look awful. Burgundy vs. red and white with gold mixed in on both sides; it wasn't a bad looking game. Not ideal, but I would take that over the San Antonio/Memphis matchup from yesterday.

I also thought, for as red-heavy as it was, Houston/DC wasn't terrible either. Houston's helmet is garbage, but I liked the other three contrasting elements: white jerseys, blue pants, and red socks. And DC is just a pair of white pants away from having the best (OK, maybe second or third best) uniforms in the league.

Lots of caveats there. And everything I said was "this is not bad" vs. "this is good". Ha. But my point is, this league is at least colorful and the matchups are pretty easy to watch (both aesthetically and it terms of quality of the games, come to it).

Houston needs to just wear either a white or a blue helmet and call it a day. The all red for the Panthers works when playing the Stallions as well, I just don't like that look. I think if they had a blue jersey for Michigan as well, this would help add some color to the league as well.

A player on Memphis had to get his cleats spray painted. Presumably because they weren’t completely white or included a team color.

It must have worked because he forced then recovered a fumble.

In the sunlight, SA looks yellow, but at home last week, they looked all shades of yellow, including athletic gold!

I'd say they are closer to athletic gold, but the shoulder loops on the home jerseys are a darker yellow than that of the logo sets. Granted, this is a replica instead of an authentic so the colors may be off. Playing in the Alamodome, they should go with the lighter gold that's on the logos anyways.

    san-antonio-brahmas-v-memphis-showboats.

san-antonio-brahmas-v-memphis-showboats.I also think, today would have been a good day for Memphis to go all white and San Antonio go all grey. I can see how confusing this game was to quite a few people, myself included from time to time. It's not normal to force teams to change colors, but I think it may be necessary next year just to help balance out the preponderance of red and navy blue/black teams in the league. I can already think of a new look for the Brahmas.

    5BoinUq.jpg

Just add a teal helmet instead of gold and kee the current uniform designs!

  12. Watching Brahmas at Showboats, it's interesting that they are not using drones. They're going with the skycam. So far, Arlington and Houston are using drones, but no one else who's hosted games.

Brahmas have been their own worst enemy. 6 penalties on 3rd down kept Showboat drives alive today.

Also, for anyone who has wanted a Tan or Sand primary or alternate for a team, they pitched one for the Browns and it was beautiful:

    efe956f9-e833-4ef7-be3f-db2e54e375c7_264

Perhaps not right for the Browns, but swap out the Orange for Arizona's Cardinal Red, and that could've been a strong and unique look that made sense for that particular franchise.

Another fun note on that:  they pitched the 49ers on an all-Gold uniform, but since the 49ers' Gold is so drab on the new matte fabrics, it didn't look great.  That's why they pivoted to the Black Color Rush uni.

I'm glad the Browns didn't go with the tan design. It's like trying to put two different shades of brown together and it doesn't work.

You know, I always wonder what Nashville will also look like if the Houston Oilers still existed... (But, I honestly think that Nashville will still be called the "Titans")

One of their potential nicknames was Copperheads, I think that would have been an interesting rebrand as well.

  15. I think any updates would probably be closer to the 2020 version, but I would think this is just the next evolution of the derrick. I almost wish that the UFL had flipped the colors for Arlington/Dallas and Houston but with the NFL throwing out lawsuits left and right, it wasn't going to happen. I like this recolor, I just wonder if they'd have Luv Ya Blue helmets as well as the white helmets now.

NFL Network made a few roster cuts today. Siciliano is a pro, will easily find other work (would be an instant upgrade to Prime or NBC's pregame shows). There are like 3 dudes on there who look like and bring the exact same thing to NFLN as James Palmer did.  So his pink slip's not really a shocker.

I wasn't even aware Melissa Stark was there. I obviously don't watch NFL Network enough, though. IT only came back to DirecTV Streaming before the start of the season.

Also a small note about Philly, the numbers won't be that "chunky" on the game uniforms. They took those promo photos before we gave them corrected numbers.

I was hoping to hear this! I know Orlando fans want their slash through numbers as well. Not sure if that happens this year, or they wait until next year.
