CIF and AFL are joining up, with some exceptions. For now, the Gillette Mustangs are not moving over reportedly due to the arena not being able to support the original AFL net setup.

Crew 2 will be playing Austin FC II for the MLS Next Pro Championship. Apparently the biggest complaint of Capy fans is that the game is being played at LDC instead of Crew Stadium.

He's not wrong about not using the team names. The first year uniforms for the 2009 UFL was atrocious. it was basically the same style of uniforms with different colors.
I think the names are workable, but that first year of the UFL when all the teams used the same 4 colors was pretty ugly. At least they were willing to try new ideas.

Week 7 schedule:
Jacksonville vs. New Orleans
Tampa Bay vs. Atlanta
Las Vegas vs. Chicago
Cleveland vs. Indianapolis
Washington vs. NY Giants
Detroit vs. Baltimore
Buffalo vs. New England
Arizona vs. Seattle
Pittsburgh vs. LA Rams
LA Chargers vs. Kansas City
Green Bay vs. Denver
Miami vs. Philadelphia
San Francisco vs. Minnesota

So apparently the UFL names was previously owned by . . . Vince McMahon! That's interesting. The commentator doesn't believe the USFL/XFL would be using the team names though, just the league name.

Are you referring to the former National Gridiron League, which rebranded as the UFL only to later be found out to be a scam?
Yup! That's the one.

Reportedly the XFL put in a trademark request for the UFL. Other than the ability to use some of the old identities, and to screw over another UFL that was supposed to start last year and who say they'll play in 2024, I don't know how this helps the XFL or USFL.

Um. Not so fast there. Refs aided the Browns on their finals drive and the Niners are in GW FG range as I type this.
Also, Cleveland gave $230M to an alleged rapist and and nearly beat the mighty 49ers with an XFL washout.
Beat them with XFL MVP P.J. Walker.

Probably not, but that is what it was in 2023.
And if they keep San Antonio, I think the league might decide to rename them "San Antonio Bulls."
There's no need to change team names because the original owner walks away

Sheikh Jassim drops out of the race to buy Man United
Good. They've overvalued the price by over $3 billion. It sucks they'll stay in charge but this is taking way too long. They're getting more money now than ever with Snapdragon and Adidas upping their payouts.

So...
Canton
Birmingham
Memphis
St. Louis
San Antonio
Houston
Arlington
And one more?
Also consider that they might be doing four hubs again, with Arlington as your fourth. That would screw St. Louis, but this entity has never been about the in-person fans, so why start now?
Everyone in the XFL except for Houston and Las Vegas have been selling season tickets. I think hubs have to be off the plate based on the amount of money that has to be paid back to fans because all of the XFL fans have paid their season tickets completely.

Vilda has a new job, with Morocco. As good as that team was this year in the World Cup, they won't make it anywhere unless he actually put in the work that he didn't with Spain. I feel sorry for them.

Toyota Stadium was partly funded by Frisco ISD and houses roughly third to half the district's high school football games each weekend. And I'm sure FISD would love to have it all to themselves without working around FC Dallas games.
I think they also would love to turf it over as soon as they could to get even more games in there, including the FCS championship game which is still there.

Hopefully this means we'll have more clarity in the next few weeks. We all know Birmingham was going to survive, but now we can see who's on the block from the USFL side of things.

Come now. This is the AFL 3.0 we're talking about. Just shove a field in the abandoned outlet center and call it a day.
Just raise the roof on the Super Walmart in town and clear out the space on gamedays.

Footy Headlines keeps pushing this narrative that the 2024 template is inspired by 2006, but I really don’t see anything similar between the two. Those kits were defined by multiple panels that framed the entire chest, not just a single stripe at the bottom of the shirt.
That's not as bad as saying the 2024 shirt is "Inspired" by a 2004 template that every Nike team got. Other than the colors matching, I don't see anything that matches.

Seeing where this league is going, I'd say that Bakersfield is probably the most appropriate venue for the California team.
I'd say Barstow is where this league is at the moment, but the only reason that won't happen is there's not an arena big enough out there.

Honestly I find it odd the WNBA hasn't gone to the Bay Area until now. Would have thought The Bay would have been a more attractive location for the league than Sacramento for one of the original 8 teams.
If the Warriors were in San Francisco instead of Oakland that may have been the case. I think the new arena wanting more income helps get the team there as well. I also think the only reason Cleveland was even involved in the original 8 was that Columbus had a team in the ABL.

I'm curious if Inter Miami FC will introduce more than three jerseys in the upcoming season in order to maximize their revenue during Messi's tenure with the club, which extends until 2025.
I'd be surprised if MLS allows it, but they could go the Austin FC route and create some collaborative jersey designs. Austin has a jersey designed with a local company and adidas that won't be worn on the field.
