Stampman
the 1960's Calgary Stampeders--from 62-69 they went 82-42-4, and only one of those years below .500 (7-8-1 in 1966) They made it to the Grey Cup once--losing 24-21 to Ottawa in 1968.They also had excellent teams in 78 & 79, unfortunately those years overlap with the Edmonton Eskimos' best years...Still in 79 they demolished the Lions 37-2 to take the West semi final and only lost 17-9 to the Eskimos in the Western Final. pittunited
How about the 1994 Penn State Nittany Lions? Unbeaten, but forced to play in the Rose Bowl against Oregon.I remember that. I was so POed that the Lions weren't named champs that year. But did it really have anything to do with having to play in the Rose Bowl? I think it was more a case of, "Oh, JoePa already has a title to his name, but poor Tom Osborne out in Nebraska hasn't won one yet..." And what happens? The next year the Huskers dominate and win the title outright. And thanks to the Penn State-Nebraska controversy, we have the BCS. Cheers to the '94 Nittany Lions... the TRUE national champions. WE ARE... PENN STATE! Me? Bitter? After ten years?? nah.... vicfurth
I'm trying to think of someone that's no one's mentioned...The 1994 Dallas Cowboys: They were poised to win their third Super Bowl in a row, but the evil 49ers just had to win. Or the 2003 Chicago Cubs: They were pretty good. 1966 Dallas Cowboys: I think that's the year of the Ice Bowl.

TFoA
The 1999 Jacksonville Jaguars... They went 14-2 that year, losing only to the Tennessee Titans... They made it all the way to the AFC Championship game, only to lose to... you guessed it, THE TITANS...If it weren't for the Titans, if Jax had gotten just one victory over them, I believe they would've worked up enough confidence to win the Championship, and maybe it would be the Jacksonville Jaguars coming up 1 YARD SHORT
winters in buffalo
As a die-hard Bills fan, I can honestly say the 99 Bills don't belong here. The team really wasn't that great.

rockchalk
1996-97 Kansas Jayhawks 34-1 in the regular season with the only loss coming in double OT against Mizzou in Columbia. Ranked #1 wire-to-wire and end up losing to eventual national champs Arizona in the Sweet 16...an unbelieveable loss that helped cement Roy Williams inability to win in the big games. I've decided to give up hope for all sports teams I follow

MilTownMVP
I'm not surprised this hasn't come up because they're not even respected around here, but I gotta put it down for the Milwaukee Bucks of the 80's.It pisses me off that the 2001 Bucks got a banner at the Bradley Center acknowledging their Central Division championship like the teams I grew up with didn't do that SEVEN years in a row (1979-80 to 1985-86).Had Kareem not been such a punk and insisted that anything but LA or NY wasn't good enough for him, we'd have a lot more than just that one banner hanging in the rafters. MilTownMVP
1966 Dallas Cowboys: I think that's the year of the Ice Bowl. 1967 was the Ice Bowl. But they got their arses handed to 'em by the Packers (at the Cotton Bowl) in the '66 Championship too Dubya's thoughts on "terrorist" nations: "They never stop thinking of new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
