In my opinion, the portrait is too detailed for this use. On a flag I would prefer a rendering similar to the recently-changed Lincoln Financial logo.

This only seems necessary if you are following the "rule" that "all flags must be able to be drawn perfectly  from memory!"

 

But I don't think most people would be able to accurately draw Lincoln's head anyway, regardless of how detailed it is

My concept for a Nebraska flag:

Red (of course, that's the only color of flag they're going to fly in Nebraska), with the art deco "Golden Sower" in the middle (best online picture I could find). I grew up in Nebraska, and this is a symbol everyone knows if they went to Elementary School in the state.

 

 

Of course, there is already an unofficial civil flag, the red "N" flag for the Huskers, but I think mine is okay
