Well, thats good then. At least I won't have to worry about them replacing guys I mostly never heard of with names I can't pronounce with other, less talented guys I mostly never heard of with names I can't pronounce.

Tyler: That's neat.

Dr. Kelso: No, it's not.

the greedy owners caused this mess by throwing billion dollar contracts to players. its bad enough this season is cancelled, but next season could be cancelled as well.

i seriously hope that both sides realize the longer they go on with no hockey, the worse off it is for the sport. lockout-gate will all but kill the NHL. I don't see the NHL lasting much after this, EVEN WITH A NEW DEAL in place. Baseball the former american past time was almost destroyed as a result of the strike.

My team is the Chicago Blackhawks. Would I have noticed?

Now that is funny!

And sadly true at the same time.

I personally think the owners made the best choice, because it would be a joke. A lot of teams have worked hard putting together a great team, then to have them replaced by hacks. Can you imagine the Avalanche, or the Devils, or the Red Wings, or the Stars slumming down in last place because a former third line player from the ECHL is their leading scorer?

But this decision also marks to me that the owners understand that the league is hurting big time. It is going to be hard enough to get fans back in the seats when the likes of Joe Sakic and Ilya Kovalchuk come back. They sure aren't going to get them to show up for replacement players.

I think replacement players are the one piece of leverage the owners have other than time; but using time to it's full advantage would cost them a lot by throwing away another season.

If the NHL uses replacement players, I think it would be more like the NFL than MLB, where guys would start crossing the line to play. But the longer this goes on, the more guys like Joe Sakic and Jeremy Roenick are going to look at their ages and think Do I really want to lose these last productive years to a labor dispute?

Of course it's all the Rangers and Bobby Holik's fault anyway.
