Stampman Posted July 16, 2005 Share Posted July 16, 2005 My problem with shootouts is that they are contrived--2 teams battle it out for 60+ minutes and now you settle the game with a contrivance?And also hockey is a team sport--yes individual effort can make the difference in a game--but it flows form the game, not something tacked on at the end.I have no problem with a tie...Or if you want no ties--sudden death OT is the way to go...And trust me - the novelty will wear off. I was an avid Penguin fan since discovering hockey during my early teens.I followed the Hurricanes when they came to Raleigh, but wouldn't exactly have classified myself as a fan of the team.Now, after this horseplop between the owners and players?
