The Yankees acquired Sean Chacon from the Rockies for Minor Leaguers Eduardo Sierra and Ramon Ramirez. Obviously, this is old news from Thursday, seeing as Chacon is pitching right now for the Bombers agaonst the Angels.

In a story that just broke moments ago, the Yanks also signewd ex-Red Sock Alan Embree to a major league contract, and desigfnated Buddy Groom for assignment to make room for him on the 25-man roster.

The 35-year old Embree was 1-4 with one save and a 7.65 ERA in 43 appearances with the Boston Red Sox in 2005 (37.2IP, 42H, 33R, 32ER, 11BB, 30K).

Not good numbers this year. The Yankees are desperate for pitching now because of all the injuries.

Absolutely. Imagine if someone said at the start of the season that Nomo, Leiter, May, Redding, Chacon and Embree would be Yankees at one point or another. Leiter is the only one remotely feasible, and wouldn't have happened if he hadn't pitched so poorly for Florida.

This is why I hate the Yankees. They just keep funneling in talent, and the minute you blink, half the team's replaced.

Yea, they keep funneling all this great talent that all the other teams just let go. Lieter and Chacon were the only guys the Yankees traded for. And Leiter had to be traded or the Marlins were going to have to release him because he was designated for assignment. The rest of these guys we realeased by their former team.
