worst. jersey. ever.

And although winghaz beat me to it, the Rockies are the mountains that inspired the line in "America the Beautiful". Purple can work if done right - look at the Lakers and the Vikings. The infatuation with every team needing to wear black needs to die out, and the Rockies should ditch the black and silver look. Nobody wants to be the Oakland Raiders anymore, it's not 1988 (although I miss N.W.A.). Look at the teams scaling back on their black: Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, KC Royals [FINALLY!]. Purple and silver (and my choice, forest green) would set off the Rockies' set perfectly.

I have to say I agree with the purple, silver and green color combo for the Rockies. IIRC, those were the original colors when Denver was awarded the team back in the early 90's. Black displaced the forest green before the first pitch was ever thrown in 1993.

I was really pissed off when the Astros changed to their current design. I think the mid 90s design was their best. The current set has grown on me a little, but I still prefer the mid 90s... that hat is one of my all-time favorites. One thing that I hate about the current Stros uniforms is that they have too many shades of red - the BP jersey red, alternate hat red, alternate jersey red, and home jersey number all look slightly different.

I love the DBacks look, I would just get rid of the sleeveless roads. I love the black alternates, and the snake D cap is going to be the next MLB cap I buy.

I cannot figure out for the life of me why so many people really dislike the Stros unis and colors. The brick and tan are two of the most unique colors in baseball and represent Texas way more than either the Orange and navy, or the gold and navy ever did. Not to mention the addition of the train. Could you imagine it if every time Bags smashed a home run that a Navy and gold, or God forbid navy and orange train came across tracks:blink: And on top of that the star that htey have right now is head and shoulders above anything they had before. Isnt that usually the reason for a redesign? Because the newer design looks better than what they have had in the past? :therock: Unless of course your the Jays or the Bills. Anyway thats just my opinion

I must say that teams like Arizona, Florida, Tampa Bay, and Toronto need a change to something more "classic." Their colors seem to 90ish and blah, I don't think of baseball when I see their logo. No good.

In addition I would like a return to classics by Minnesota, Milwaukee, Kansas City, NY Mets, and even Toronto.

Look at Northwestern, TCU and of course the Minnesota Vikings.

Purple is a great color !

Arizona and Colorado have to keep the Purple.

No more black. Too many teams use the black.

But i think Arizona need a more old school style jersey for the road (really ugly)

The home pinstripes are great !!!

pinstriped unis always looks great (yankees, white-sox) are old school style and talking me about baseball !!!!

Ignoring for a second exactly how brick, sand and black represent Texas (I think burnt orange), here's my beef with the Astros' current colors.

Houston is the Space City. NASA. Very futuristic and all that. The team was rechristened the "Astros" to honor the developing space program. The orange shades represented the sun and stars, the navy represented the sky and outer space. They played in the first domed stadium on the first fake grass. Simply put, those colors meshed better with the nickname AND the city. Your contention is that the present colors match the state. Fine - but the team in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area bears the state's name in its team name, as well as a nickname paying tribute to the famous law enforcement group.

I find it better to have the colors and designs match the nickname, which should play off the city/state where the team plays. A perfect example is "Milwaukee Brewers". (Now, if they could only get a color scheme that fit that name.) The Astros did that - a tribute to the bustling Space Age (in the 1960s, anyway), and had colors to match. Everything about their new look - including the train - has almost no connection to the team's nickname, and takes the connection to Houston in a different, and more confusing direction. Every major city has a train station, so wouldn't every team be able to include train designs? Rogers Centre [skyDome] is built near a rail yard. The Phillies almost did the same with their new park, over 30th Street Station. The subway rumbles through Yankee Stadium, and just outside Shea and Wrigley. Having a train station in your city isn't that special. Having NASA's headquarters in your city at the dawn of the Space Age, that was significant.

Bring back the orange & navy.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

New here.

On the Reds: get rid of the pinstripes, the black bill and black sleeves; make a red cap with white wishbone C and black shadow the only hat, and you have one of the best unis in the majors. Too much black on a team called the Reds. Pinstripes too busy for most teams.

Graphite Jays: go back in time, like most say. I remember hearing it said that the older Blue Jays logo (Joe Carter) was the most recognized image in Canada. Doubt the new one is. Most reviled, maybe.

D'backs, etc.: some logos on hats are too big and too busy. Both their A and their D are huge, so is the new Jays, the photoperfect Oriole, among others. Some logos are iconic and simple--these not as much.

Good observations. The only thing I don't agree with is the black shadow on the Reds' caps. They don't need black anywhere. They are the Reds and should only be red and white, no black, no blue, no nothing...lol.

I myself like the Astros' new set. Probably, the brick/black set is the best they've ever had. The Padres at one point had navy/orange as team colors and the Tigers still have those colors. At least the colors Houston has now are unique.

Also, I think the Rockies should keep purple as one of their colors. If they did, they'd look too much like the White Sox, and to an extent, the Oakland Raiders of the NFL. Rather, the Rockies should find ways to get more purple into their uniforms, especially at home.

The only uniforms I would say that look completely awful would be the ones that the Blue Jays wear. Anything they wore before 2002 would be an improvement. I'm fine with the Reds' latest set, but they should mix it up more like they did when they first introduced it. The Giants used black as one of their colors and the Mets uniforms are said to be combinations of the Dodgers and Giants uniforms, so I guess it's justified to keep the black. It's really the pinstriped home uniforms that need to go. The only other major change that need to be made is with the Marlins, as the teal is being downplayed in the newest set and silver is being pushed more.

The Astros were wearing orange and navy before the Padres EXISTED, and decades before the Pads dumped the brown/orange/yellow scheme for nave and orange. The Tigers and Astros never crossed paths until the advent of interleague play, so no National League fans saw navy and orange except when the Astros came to town. Think 1960s-1980s: no cable TV, no internet, more parochial rooting interests. The leagues kept to themselves except for the All-Star Game and the World Series. The Tigers having the same colors would've meant next to nothing to National League fans.

And brick and black aren't that unique. Before everyone went upscale with the names of their team colors in some attempt to be novel, brick was red (and sand was tan). Red and black are fairly common, though curiously not in MLB.
