Bill Clinton is correct. However, what I had in mind was who was president when the last back to back 4 game World Series teams involved 2 different teams.

Clue: he was sitting behind home plate.

Your question is kind of flawed, unless you mean the current World Series. Any other WS with consecutive sweeps had at least one team in common in both years.

There were sweeps in 1989 (Earthquake) and 1990, the A's were in both of them. Before that you have to go back to 1938 and '39, the Yankees winning both of them.

So there have been 3 consecutive World Series sweeps since 1903.

  • 1938, 1939 New York Yankees
  • 1989 Oakland Athletics and 1990 Cincinnati Reds
  • 1998, 1999 New York Yankees
  • 2004 Boston Red Sox and 2005 Chicago White Sox
