I had a guy once tell me "If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport." I had no reply as I was so completely flabbergasted. Where to begin with this mentality?

Isn't that the same as: "If it's not one of the big 4, it's not a sport?" Or: "Turning left isn't a sport?"

(Also, I'm not arguing anymore about NASCAR, I hate the changes, and that's what matters to me.)

Agreed, they're both equally ignorant statements.

Do you think driving your car is a sport?

I think competitive offroading/rockcrawling/desert racing is a sport. However, the way I offroad my Jeep is a hobby or a form of recreation. I also think that all forms of racing; motor assisted and otherwise; are athletic sports. However, for someone to say that in order to be considered a sport there needs to be an engine involved is ridiculously stupid.
