Gentlemen, I know the playoffs aren't over yet, but college football is.  Who do you think are going to be the studs and duds of this years draft?

Studs:

Karlos Dansby, LB, Auburn

Steven Jackson, RB, Oregon State

Ben Rothlisberger, QB, Miami of Ohio

Eli Manning, QB, Ole Miss

Duds:

Chris Gamble, CB, OSU

Chris Perry, RB, Michigan

DJ Williams, LB, Miami

I agree that he will be a star, but I doubt he will revolutionize the position.  He lacks great run blocking skills and his pass blocking need some work as well, especially considering the kaliber of d ends in the league now.  A great tight end is not only a receiver, but he must block just as well.

3 Studs-

Eli Manning, Ole Miss (if nothing else, he has great pedigree)

Roy Williams, Texas

Teddy Lehman, Oklahoma

3 Duds-

Jason White, Oklahoma

Philip Rivers, N.C. State (sorry, Pack fans, but I'm going with him on my dud list. The ACC has had some draft duds in the past that were highly touted, a la Chris Weinke and Danny Kanell.)

John Navarre, Michigan

white got an extra year cus of his knees, so put him on 'next year's duds' list next to berlin :;):

matter of fact, i'm gonna put Drew Henson on my Rust List, meaning he could be a dud like he was in baseball or he could shock the hell out of us and be great in a couple years.  cus i don't think he ever signed with the texans, so looks like he'll be in the draft again.

Isn't it amazing that the NFL draft is really the only one we actually get worked up about?

I put Jason White on my dud list for a couple of reasons...

1) He's got bad knees. NFL DE's & LB's will go for his knee like crazy.

2) Heisman winners have general not done well in the NFL the last few years. Just to prove a point, all the Heisman winners from the last ten years (starting with Carson Palmer)...

2002: Carson Palmer-don't know yet

2001: Eric Crouch-currently retired, therefore he's a dud

2000: Chris Weinke-so far, dud

1999: Ron Dayne-dud

1998: Ricky Williams-stud; one of the NFL's best backs

1997: Charles Woodson-stud

1996: Danny Wuerffel-dud

1995: Eddie George-stud

1994: Rashaan Salaam-stud, then complete dud

1993: Charlie Ward-stud... for the NEW YORK KNICKS

Therefore, winning the Heisman doesn't necessarily mean you're that good. :blues:

Ward reportidly is about to become a NJ Net.

As for Jason White, he got a 6th year of elligabillity due to losing 2 years due to injuries, and he says he will be returning to Oklahoma next year, a wise choice especially since he would not go very high in the draft.

Chance are likely he will be a dud, but he will have another year on campus before he becomes the latest Hiesman bust.
