Tampa Bay Rays to go after Barry Bonds?

As for Wade Boggs, that actually was probably the best move theyve made ever fanbase wise, because Tampa's only major moment in history came when Boggs got his 3,000th hit (also the only man ever to have his 3,000th hit be a home run).

Didn't know that...

I wonder how many players hit a homerun for their 500th homerun.... :D

With or without Bonds, Tampa will be alot better than people are giving them credit for. Theyve got alot of young talent and they also have the next Lou Brock (with alot more power though) in Carl Crawford. Also, don't forget that Carlos Pena reanked third in the AL in homers.

Tampa Bay's minor league system is ridiculous. They've got 7 players in the Top 100, 4 of them in the top 17! Add that to a solid young core of Crawford, Upton, Baldelli, Kazmir, Sheilds, and Garza. There is a good chance they'll improve much like the Tigers of '06.

Bonds would be a mistake IMO. He's not the kind of guy they need in the clubhouse teaching these young guys. I can only imagine how horrible it would be if the Rays still had Delmon Young and Elijah Dukes.

If Bonds has any sense he would thank the Rays for their flattery, politely decline, and retire with some sense of dignity (IF thats even still possible).

Rays fans (are there Rays fans?) have been down this road before. First time around, it was Vaughn and Canseco. Now it's (allegedly) Bonds, Piazza, and Lofton. If the best they can offer fans is the last stop for old talent on the wane, well, brace for another year with three digits in the loss column.

And would Bonds really be a draw? I mean, all the records have been broken already. Maybe a short-lived boost if he was approaching 800, but I don't see him sticking around long enough for that.

Note to Rays management: Rickey Henderson is available.

The Indians need to re-sign Kenny.

He is my all-time favorite player, and if he doesn't retire with the Indians I will be very dissapointed.

And I sure hope he doesn't end up playing way past his productive years, like Rickey Henderson.

I hope someday he becomes a part of the Indians organization wether it be coach, manager, front office, or whatever.
