BJ Sands
Here's a summary screen of the color in question:I would call that Purple.Thanks. I'll go looking for a photo of the jerseys to see if those are actually purple too.
EJ_Barlik
In the words of the 2 guys from the beer commercial.......Brilliant!Love the entire thread!!!!!!Sheer genius. That, and the color above looks more like a dark blue than purple on my LCD monitor. But I think that is because there is white around it. I'm sure it looks purple everywhere else..... 5-time Defending NL East Champions
AsM29
That could mean that your monitor needs to be calibrated.

EJ_Barlik
I think Pantone, ah, Colorwerx is way ahead of the curve. Me, personally, I am a stickler for exact colors, so much so that I hate when NFL merchandise is issued with clearly the wrong colors in stores and refuse to buy it. Now, mind you, I don't go around checking the fabric swatches to see if it matches, I just kinda eyeball it. Substituting dark navy blue for black is gonna fool most people. Pantone isn't one of them. But sustituting burgundy for crimson, just won't do, as most diehard SF49er fans can tell you (hope my analogy sticks, here). They just don't look the same. All that being said, I'm just not going to spend $100 or so to get a program to tell me my color monitor is off by 3 candlepower or 20 lumens, or whatever-the-doogie it measuires color by.....I think if the color is called purple and it LOOKS purple to my eyes, I'm just gonna stick with what I have. And in the above example, I can see enough purple in the swatch posted to justify leaving my monitor the way it is for now. I think it's pretty close to being correct in the first place.I was just hoping for an answer so future readers can search on CCSLC for how to get their monitors (if not their eyes) fixed when there is a problem. In some cases, people's monitors will be ok, but they will be using a bad graphics card, or the graphics card is fine but they will not have it adjusted to the highest possible color resolution for thir monitor (what is it now, billions of colors, or is it still millions??), and therefore, they will not see the correct color (for example, I believe the midnight green on the Eagles jersies to be a bit lighter shade than the black on the jersies, but on color monitors, they look virtually identical).Just like the human reflexes cannot physically determine .01 seconds, the human eye cannot usually determine when a color is off by a few values R, G, or B (on an RGB monitor) or off a few C, Y, M, K (on a CYMK monitor) in either direction. Anyone who is that good has way better than 20/20 vision. In Colorwerx case, I think he has a better perception of color than most on these boards, as time and postings have borne out.So in this case, I'll give the nod to Colorwerx and his incredibly complex gizmo and his eyes. I think I'll stick with what I have, and just call it a day.CW - any other thoughts? Any I way off base here on my color statements? 5-time Defending NL East Champions
TruColor
I'm a total color dork...what can I say? However, I truly feel that all professional designers should use some sort of calibration...for example, what I see on the screen almost completely matches a printed version. Really close.Moving ahead...San Diego Riptide - 2002 through 2003, Primary Logo:San Diego Riptide - 2002 through 2003, Alternate Primary Logo:San Diego Riptide - 2002 through 2003, Secondary Logo 1:San Diego Riptide - 2002 through 2003, Secondary Logo 2:
